July 10th, 2023 Question Timestamps: ------------------------------------------- 1:37 - In a very old Q&A Miles said he used his Magic to boost Dr Kintobor's Globe Posts to reach across to the Mobian Star Posts. Now i wonder how powerful is Miles with his Magic? 3:15 - Ian! Kyle! Long time no see! Which do you think is more likely (with regards to IDW): Mighty, Ray and other "classic" characters returning to the modern setting, or humans showing up again? I'd be interested to hear what you think the specific challenges are with both of these. 5:02 - SEGA has given you their blessing to bring back two of the characters featured in Sonic Spinball. What new adventures would you have in store for Hip and Hop? 7:04 - Would Eggman and Starline fit in with the Guild of Calamitous Intent? How would both sides view each other in terms of villainy? And most importantly, how would Starline's interview for the Revenge Society go? 9:02 - Did you have any plans for how Dr. Cossack’s Citadel, Proto Man’s Castle, and Mr. X’s Castle would have come about in preparation for their respective game adaptations as well as every future Wily Castle? Would Dr. Wily have kept sending Robot Masters to build every castle? And I might as well ask where Dr. Cossack lived. Was it in his Citadel? 11:03 - Recently, I had a small conversation with a mutual on Twitter over the recent IDW Sonic issues. While I have enjoyed them myself, they feel that many of the stories after your run have been underwhelming and aimless, underusing a lot of game characters and feeling that the recent arcs are half-baked. Since these criticisms are for the current run, they know that you can't answer for Evan, but do you have any response as a writer for these criticisms towards the book? 12:19 - I'm not a huge fan of how Sega wants Shadow to be characterized these days, personally post-reboot Archie Shadow is my all-time favorite incarnation of the character. Now let's say you're tasked to rewrite the story of issue 6 of IDW Sonic as well as the Battle for Angel Island arc but with the freedom to write your ideal version of Shadow, what changes would you make to these stories? 14:12 - What if the boom cast Eggman, sonic, Knuckles, sticks, Tails , and Amy were separately taken into black and white rotoscope comic Dimension from the A-Ha take on Me music video? 15:32 - *[Minor spoilers for Spider-Man: ATSV]* Have any of you two watched Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? Without spoiling much, it questions the overall mythos of Spider-Man and examines if suffering is necessary. So I ask: What would a Sonic story in that same vein be like? What ideas and tropes of Sonic stories could be challenged to such a degree? 17:12 - A recent reoccurring discussion I've seen on the warzone of Sonic Twitter is that "Sonic is not a hero, he just does what he thinks is right." Ignoring the fact that this is essentially the literal definition of a hero, what moments in Sonic's history do you think best showcase this idea, and what kind of story would you write to specifically showcase Sonic's lack of inherent heroism? (or do you personally believe this idea to be untrue to his character or whatnot?) 20:21 - silver has to go back to the future (sorry folks). but he decides to bring one person with him from the past. who would he choose and why? 21:15 - asking for a friend about new crusaders! did you have any plans about the character ivette that you remember? 22:59 - Classic Sonic being mute is something I relate to alot, If you had to come up with a reason why he doesn't speak, what would it be? 23:42 - According to an interview of Johnny Gioeli done by the Crushcast, when asked what species of mobian he would be, Johnny answered he would like to be a gorilla. What will you do with this very important information? (Fan artists are gonna go wild on that.) 24:24 - Is Archie Sonic Comics supposed to be based on Sonic SatAM cartoon plus games? Archie told me that it’s based on the games but we had Sally Acorn and Bunnie Rabbot for the whole series canon! 25:28 - Are there any animals Sega won’t let you use besides hedgehogs or echidnas? Some animals don’t seem to make any appearances like horses or pigs while some more out there animals like apes feature only in smaller roles. 28:07 - I know we already have the game Shadow the hedgehog explaining Shadows origin of creation but do you guys think could ever get a game explaining where shadows abilities come from such as Chaos blast snap etc or do those all come from his relation to black doom? I 28:30 - Lets say Sega wants you to write a new Storybook Sonic, and are willing to allow the IDW cast in. But the book they choose is Jurassic Park. How do you retell the story? Who plays what roles? Is Eggman John Hammond? Did he clone dinos, or make robot versions? Am I doing this as a desperate way to grasp at an Ovi-Raptor joke? (Yes. Yes I am.) *THANK YOU, Dove!* 36:32 - In IDW, Starline talks about how he spent his whole career, implying he spent years, studying the powers of the Warp Topaz with his hand being evidence of just how much he had to endure to perfect the technology. However, the same is not truly said about the Imposters since Starline seems to accomplish that project relatively quickly without much issue aside from the Imposters' eventual rebellion. Because the timespan is kept ambiguous, my question is this: Is it possible for Starline to have made a prototype to the Imposters, like a "Bizarro Sonic", similar to how Shadow's prototype was the Biolizard? 37:40 - Hello Ian! I’ve recently finished My Hero Academia so my question is inspired by the series. Starline’s isekai’s adventure continues! But this time he’s in the world of MHA. How would things play out for the good doctor? What arc would he survive til? ------------------------------------------- 39:34 - Outtake 1 40:44 - Outtake 2 (that makes Kyle’s part of the intro more understandable) 41:01 - Outtake 3 42:05 - -Outtake 4- *Blasphemy*
How would you like a canon game using detective team from Sonic's universe? In that game you play as them and try to solve a misteri. Sonic will not be in that game and playing it would be more like Detective game then Sonic game.

I'm really loving these Shadow questions recently, more Shadow is aaaaalways a win! Although you guys make any subject entertaining to listen to honestly.
Up to the Metal Virus, I didn't really mind Shadow's portrayal. In the Battle for Angel Island I kind of understood his mindset. Rouge said he was going after the biggest threat, not toughest foe. Shadow thought skipping the enemies and going straight for the boss was the most efficient route to saving the day. To him, the army of robots were just an impeding force, costing the Resistance precious seconds. Most of Shadow's issue in the Metal Virus was okay, up until his last words. I think Shadow believed his status as the Ultimate Lifeform, specifically in the sense he could survive any aliment, with Maria's situation as evidence, would protect him from the virus. If I could change anything, I'd change his last words from "I don't run" to a resigned but determined "Too late..." Shadow would've realized and accepted his corruption. He couldn't stop it, so he could only do what he could with the time he had left. Winter Park... I'd have it emphasized that Shadow is suffering from tunnel vision. He recognized Starline, knows the threat he represents, and focused solely on that. People were in danger, but if Starline escaped, countless more would be too. I don't agree with that mindset, but it'd make more sense for that to be Shadow's mindset than him being an arrogant egotist.
20:21 I really wish they'd let Silver interact with more people than just Blaze. I mean, Silver and Blaze are siblings (yes, they are SIBLINGS. People often forget that's a canon thing, maybe not by blood but still siblings nonetheless!) so it's understandable why he'd want her to hang around, but what about characters like Espio for a change? It'd be nice to see his other relationships explored. Blaze's too - tired of her always being the accessory to another male character.
I would love to hear Ian speak on his feelings about Sonic Frontiers from a gameplay perspective, as a fan. I am deeply curious if he has tried the new spindash, and what he thinks of it being added into the game.
I think a Sonicverse might have a focus on the emotional collateral of Sonic's adventures. Chaos destroyed Station Square and after stopping Chaos from destroying more, Sonic ran off into the sunset, nevermind all those people who are now homeless, if not dead. Maybe the antagonist could be a member of the Restoration. They might argue Sonic doesn't deserve to be even an honorary member. For awhile, I thought Lanolin might end up like that.

I wanted ask the simple question on if Nine from Sonic Prime Doc Ock'd himself or if the 7 mechanical tails are removable. Like are they permanently stuck to his body like Otto Octavious or is it some device he can simply remove at any time? I don't think this would be considered a spoiler/NDA kinda question.
Hello Ian and Kyle! I heard that you guys do Q&A Podcasts. If you don't mind, I have a question for you Mr Flynn. Is Amy hard to write? Some Sonic fans have warmed up to Amy in recent years, while others are dissatisfied with her current direction. Some Sonic fans are pleased that 'Sonic Boom,' 'IDW,' and 'Sonic Frontiers' redeemed Amy by allowing her to be independent and powerful, letting go of her infamous attributes such as her Sonic infatuation. The other portion of the Sonic community believes Amy's current incarnation is melancholy in 'Sonic Frontiers,' nagging wet-blanket in 'Sonic Boom,' and under-cooked in the IDW comic books, having her love for Sonic heavily toned down to the point that apparently loving Sonic is a bad thing. Amy is one of the most divisive characters among Sonic fanbase, so I absolutely understand how tough it must be tough to cast Amy in pivotal positions without offending anyone. What are your thoughts?
@@galten7361 I agree that Amy's personality remained consistent across the games... for better or worse. Amy is a lively, kind-hearted girl that cherishes her friends, follows her heart, and adores Sonic. Unfortunately, some writers who were unfamiliar with Sonic's history took her for granted, emphasizing Amy's infatuation with Sonic in a negative light while ignoring her other key aspects of her nature. Amy appears to be a bit of a handful in some games, such as Sonic Adventure and Sonic Rush. In other games, such as Sonic Forces, she is simply there with no personality. Granted, she is the same in some games, but it is the way her personality is portrayed. Also, I'm not applying memes here. I'm simply addressing the issues that Western fans have with Amy. I'm interested in Ian's view on this subject matter.
