Keith's right, i interviewed him 15 years ago, out of the blue, after a wild concert, lol, backstage, man i will never forget it, how cool it was, it was awesome, the nr 1 MC- a true humble guy also, and a true MC .
Just read your comment and check its out, dam you got point. Why I never hear it before in my younger day sorta makes me sad. It was a good listen. Thanks.
Keith's style is unique .. I listen (get my keef fix) every day for 20 plus years.. Prince Paul is a legend creator too, stet, wu, de la, digaz ect. wow man! nice interview thanks for post
Keith, you are a the MAN. The full spectrum doctor of lyrical creation. A abstract artist of Galactical proportions. Red Hot, nothing but. Keep it coming, please! 🙌🏻
ED LOVER - KOOL KEITH - PRINCE PAUL - ALL MY LEGENDARY PEPS FROM THE GOLDEN ERA OF REAL HIP HOP... WAS IN THE STUDIO MAKING MY FIRST LANCE ROMANCE HIP HOP ALBUM IN 1987 AT CALLIOPE RECORDING STUDIO, WHEN PRINCE PAUL WAS WORKING ON THE CLASSIC STETSASONIC ALBUM ON TOMMY BOY RECORDS 1987...
This two are an absolute perfect left field fit. Never understood why they didn't put out more project together. Must be a lack of financing. Weapon World and the Blue Flower remix are the only tracks that come to mind.
Hella fun listening to you O G! It's MEGA safe to say this is one of my top favorite rappers of all time and has been for a while since Critical Beatdown I been Ultra proud of you! Thanks for the Super Hero joints not to long ago also my favorite song won my heart!!!
@@tonejh Okay, so this is something he came up with, lol. I heard him say that and at first I was like, "nooooo..." but if it's a conscious thing, then it's definitely clever.
They go deep into the story in one of Brian Coleman's books (forget if it's Check The Technique 1 or 2). The group came together around after Paul got jerked over by Def Jam over his Dew Doo Man sub-label and other industry drama, and he basically hooked up with three Tommy Boy ex-pats, one of which was a pre-Wu RZA. When the Gravediggaz album finally came out, the Wu had already blown up, which probably helped the sale of 6 Feet Deep, but RZA was recruited to Gravediggaz pre-"Protect Ya Neck." I highly recommend both of Coleman's books; they're indispensable.
Kha Renaissance Yea I was before I moved. And I use to go to the busy bee mall /flea market to get sneakers in bulk for cheap back in the 90's. Was sad when they were bought out by kohls!? When I was 17 I learned how to do my 1st donuts in my 1st car in that parking lot. At night of course lol. Good times :-) And I like to leave a smiley face every time Amityville comes up anywhere. I had fun growing up in the 80's & 90's in Amityville!
Lol...salute to Busy Bee Mall! The Wiz, "the Mall", and Busy Bee was the hot spots. You went back with that one fam. I feel you...everytime I see Amityville, I'm like yooo! You went to Amity Memorial as well?
Kha Renaissance yes I did, not gonna tell the whole internet how old I am tho but I'm up there lol. And the wiz was were I used to get lots of maxwell 90 minute cassettes. The blank ones so I could copy everyone else's mixtapes, back when they were actually on cassettes. And when the radio I had - also from the 80's - use to fuck it up, I had to use a pencil and spin the cassette like a helicopter to wind the tape back in :-) Good times. Respect to you for remembering too!
+ik1llpeeple4fun Peace! I feel you. I'm not trying to air it out on the net, but check it. I definitely would like to build for a sec. You have IG or FB? my email is renaissancemusicllc@gmail.com...let's chop it up off line.
His name is Brian Coleman and he should be mentioned in the title video. He is a writer, a journalist and we should respect guys like him defending Hip Hop as a culture in every newsrooms he could in the 90's. If you Matt doesn't know why he was there, this could explain : "The funniest thus far has been Kool Keith tweeting out that 'This book should be in every library and brothel' -- I consider that to be high praise coming from Keith." Sometimes our own people are not the real Hip Hop useful defenders.
Did Prince Paul copy Kieth's production style of making dark beats for the Gravediggas album? Was Keith about to elude to that fact before he was cut off by Ed Lover? Also...where can I see the rest of this video?
We need an EPIC album from Kool Keith and Prince Paul.
Kool Keith is the the most under rated rapper ever. Most original and a real artist.
And his skill out paces his style - always - eclecticnithicy
Where he’s now???
Timeless.
I’ve never heard Kool Keith this lucid, the stories he tells are amazing!
"You look like you's from back in the day. Fool, you's looking like you's from back in the day."
LoL
The original abstract rapper. Kool Keith gave birth to De La, Tip, Outkast.
And plucked their cards too
Keith's right, i interviewed him 15 years ago, out of the blue, after a wild concert, lol, backstage, man i will never forget it, how cool it was, it was awesome, the nr 1 MC- a true humble guy also, and a true MC .
Prince paul prince amongst thieves is one of the great hip hop albums..Listen to it!
Just read your comment and check its out, dam you got point. Why I never hear it before in my younger day sorta makes me sad. It was a good listen. Thanks.
Welcome to Weapon World
I have yet to hear a hip hop concept joint that reached the level of p.a.t.
put the next man on is a quiet classic!
DrezNoir good comment.
Yeah bro I would have to agree
Prince Paul talking about riding around in a limo with no tint! So funny. This is an awesome interview. Thanks for sharing

Love me some Kool Kieth, but did he just say, "Longjepordy" ?
Yea, you gotta overstand that cats in the game for longtime become a liability, hence the Kool Keith term "Longjeopardy".
@@tonejh Okay, so this is something he came up with, lol. I heard him say that and at first I was like, "nooooo..." but if it's a conscious thing, then it's definitely clever.
thanks for this!
Keith is the GOAT. Rakim is up there. I'm a middle class wanker from Edinburgh. My first records in 88 were PE, Kane, BDP etc. It's Keith.
Just realized Keith is one of the few rappers that goes with the clean shave.
thats crazy about Gravediggaz starting before Wu did. I never heard that before.
