There is a video coming out in a couple of weeks on Butte copper mines and some is on the Anaconda copper. Thank you for watching. New videos every Saturday.
I lived only a few hours drive from these mines. I could have visited had I known. Heck, my sister lives just a few miles away, and she never told me. 😒Dang it! Now I'm thousands of miles away.
Spaced approximately 100 feet apart downward the inclined shafts, 83 levels of the Quincy are under water now. The remaining 700 feet (topmost 7 levels) of the oldest underground workings remain forever free of flooding thanks to the Arcadian adit. Commercial public tours enter mine workings dating to the Civil War through this sole tunnel, which lies down Hancock hill.
The hoist is really something to see! Fully restored, it's a work of art!
