I only just began reading the Discworld books!! I'm 32 years old and had truly never even heard of them until a few weeks ago. Great video, I subscribed :)
Massive bookhaul! Scalzi, Beagle, Card and Halderman are also on my TBR. Curious what your opinion of them will be. I read Elric of Melnibone few years back, really good actually. But confusing what the right reading order is exactly... 🙂
I made it to the same book fair. Got some great sf too. Bruce Sterling, Harry Harrison (very rare Faber hc edition from early 1970s), a couple of early pb editions of Stanislaw Lem, Barrington Bayley, Joanna Russ Women’s Press editions … best score of the day was a first UK paperback edition of Asimovs Second Foundation from 1953 in great condition. Plus a couple of titles from new writers. Guess that leans towards my tastes in sf … great to see your book haul!
Thanks - I cannot stop fondling the beautiful hc Faber copy of The Stainless Steel Rats Revenge. Also got a first UK paperback of Octavia Butler’s Mind of my Mind - a rarity too. Might see you at a book fair soon!
Never been to that one - I do get to the Wollongong book fairs, where I’ve got some truly amazing things in the last few years. I’ll definitely try to make it to Barker tho - bit of a journey, I live in Bundeena!
I like the Scalzi book, as that's the one that got me into his work. The Forever War is unusual as it is one of the very few audiobooks I have ever enjoyed. Shame there aren't any decent book fairs near me.
I too have a loving wife that I feel the need to hide my book purchases from. I'm also reading through the entirety of Discworld. I read the Harlen Ellison back in June, I have to say I had issues with it. Hell of a haul though
That sounds like an awesome place to be every July, you picked up some good stuff! That cover of The Door into Summer is indeed odd, lol. Hopefully your wife isn't subscribed to your channel 😂
Hi! Good day! I wrote a novel, titled: Archangel world at war. I watched your informative videos and it's my pleasure that someday you will consider to review my book on one of your vlogs. It was not edited yet, nevertheless I published it to major EReading apps like Amazon and Kobo. Thank you in advance. Hopefully I can send you a physical copy in the final format of my book in the future. God bless.
Gosh, I would have died if I had gone to a book fair like that! How awesome an experience! :) What are your thoughts on Discworld? I've heard mixed reviews. New subscriber! Thank you for your kind comment on my channel. It's appreciated!
Thanks Ted. I love Discworld! I started reading it back in the 90's when they were first coming out. But definitely don't start with the first one - it's quite rough. Either Guards! Guards! or Mort are a good starting point.
@TedReadInstead there’s not really a plot. It’s quite random and some of his early writing can be a bit confusing, so it’s not a great introduction. But you should definitely go back and read it later! Guards guards is a good one to start with because it’s all totally new characters
thers a device called kindle.. try that, why u kill all those forest by buying 38 books? do you even had any idea how much wood is consumed to make that paper you just bought? yes i love trees
Great finds! Wish I went book shopping when I was in Sydney last year. I cannot find that Ellison anywhere here in the UK.
And that’s one of his better known ones

Thanks Alyssa! Which Discworld books are you starting on?
Hmmm, 38 out of 110,000. Rookie numbers!! Must try harder Nev. 😀 nice haul. 👍
Heh. I’ll try harder next time Jon!
I just loved your thumbnail 😭😭😭😭
Thanks!
Hello! I'm just discovering your channel! It just came up in my feed today. Great book haul! Looks like you're ready for some fascinating reads!
Thanks!

@@NevsBookChannel Cool, good to know, thanks!

Oh wow, that’s a hike. Must be some book fairs down around there?
Nice haul...!
Thank you 😊
Very nice haul Nev, unfortunately I wasn't able to get out there this year. Probably a good thing for the marriage lol
Yeah, wives and bookshelves can only take so much!

Whereabouts do you live? Can you drive to somewhere kind of nearby? Forever War is great!

If you want a place to hide, I suggest Queensland.
Cape York?
@@NevsBookChannel No. Cairns will do. :)
