Just stopped by to say thank you for this video (and many others). I am so happy with my new stamp and I didn't have to resort to some stock image on a branding iron!

You are so welcome! That's really neat to hear that you did that for yourself, glad I could assist :)

Really easy and kind of an extension on lino block printing. Cool pink material! Thanks...

This looks like one of those things that's immensely satisfying to do - one of those things that just gives you that sense of satisfaction that you can't wrap words around. Like cutting Silly Putty with a sharp pair of scissors.

Whoa whoa whoa, I've never cut silly putty with scissors, what am I missing out on here?

@@Craftswright Ohh boy.. get you some, roll it out about 2-3mm thick, and feel the satisfaction. haha ^_^

Thanks fore putting one the idea off using stamps. I had forgotten all about this and still has my fathers old linoleum cutters lying. I am about to make a new and better logo and will start with a stamp, branding iron would be later. Best regards from Søborg, Søren

My brother from the North! Love to hear that something I did inspired you to craft something. LOVE it! I'm in the same boat as you, brand will be coming later, just not in the budget at the moment. Make sure to tag me on insta when you make that stamp and post it!

Really, really interesting! Fantastic work, dude! 😃
But I really didn't get it. What exactly is the pink stuff? Which material is it?
Anyway, another way to make something like that is 3d printing with a semi flexible filament, like TPU. Should work great. 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Haha if only I had a 3D printer lol one day maybe. Honestly, I have no clue, I just know from trial and error that whatever material Speedball uses for their Speedy Carve blocks, it's the best haha
Always happy to hear from you my friend. Cheers! 😁

      @@Craftswright Yeah, I don't have a 3d printer yet either... 😬

This is cool and all, but I have a laser engraver... so even though I can't do paper and t-shirts, I can do everything else, and use colored sharpies if I want color.

Thanks for the flex Hexx lol
(not gonna lie, I wish I had a laser engraver so my comment was meant to be light-hearted)

Will this survive being washed with soap and water? The ink on wood that is.

0 to 10 how good does the ink hold up?

I have to admit that I was waiting for the punch line of banging your head on it to get the best impression. Or, you could always advise that REAL craftsmen use blood to stamp their creations; see how many people go Red Violin.
As I only do woodwork, for now, and my family used to raise cattle, I want to use our old brand. We even have a handful of branding irons, they are just a bit too big (6"x6"). This might work if I do it the opposite way and cut out the image and mount it on the block. The brand is only 3 elements: a splay legged bench over a "4" over a rocker.

I thought about it haha which reminded me of Dustin Penner's stamp mallet - cool video if you haven't watched it already.
That's so awesome that you have a unique piece of family history to use like that! Not gonna lie, a bit jealous now. Also now inspired to make my own brand haha
