My son just got one of these from his uncle for his birthday...it's Awesome! RC cars have come along way from back in my day. The Stampede will be a car he can grow with and get years of enjoyment in this hobby. Enjoyed the review vid!
The traxxas 1/10 scales are really hard to beat for any hobbiest. The 2wd platform used on the stampede , rustler, bandit, and slash have stood the test of time. I've owned a number of rc cars in my time in the hobby and have found that my traxxas stuff was by far the easiest to repair. Is their stuff the most durable no, cheapest definitely not but name another brand you can walk in and 99 out of 100 times get exactly what you need. I had a stampede for a short time about 12 years ago and it was a blast. I have since jumped back in the hobby with 3 2wd slash, 1 4x4 stampede , 1 rustler 2wd, and a pair of 2wd stampedes. All used and all at the $100 price point or less. Parts are cheap and plentiful.
Since you own so Manny Traxxas, could I please get some advice. I am considering the Rustler 2wd VXL/TSM For all around bashing. And then I thought for sand, snow, deep grass, etc. I would get the stampede in 4wd. Do you think those would be too good vehicles? Also, is the stampede worth bumping from the 2wd to the 4wd? Thank you so much for your time and any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Craig Hellberg the rustler is a fun little truck, and the front and rear ends are identical for the stampede 2wd and bandit and much of it for the slash platform. The suspension arms and camber links change, but there is a rather large amount of cross over. So you could buy a rustler 2wd and build it into a bandit or stampede 2wd if you get bored. The stampede 4x4 is built from the slash 4x4 platform, and the rustler 4x4 is s also based on this. A stampede 2wd is more then capable for each of those terrain except for the snow. The 4x4 would be the better performing option in that case. A rustler should stand up fine for general fun and short grass. But keep in mind it is a low slung truck
I like that its 2wd. I would love to get my hands on a used one. You can do so much custom mods on this little guy. Everyone should own at least one 2wd. 😀
I totally recommend this car i have had nothing on it brake other that the left front caster block from running one tire in a deck going 24 mph. Great, Awsome, cool, capable, RC car
Great review, great car! Have one for over a year now. Converted to brushless as my son is now more confident with it. Lately been to a skatepark and made some jumps. First times landed a little bit nasty and the cap of one of the shock absorbers popped of. Filled it with oil and could use it again. Maybe someday will replace it for aluminum as you suggested. 👍🏼
Thanks for watching! It is worth noting that out of all my cars that have the same shocks I only had one that the top poped off. It just happened to be the stampede. I have not had that issue since changing it to an aluminun top. So if it happens again you know what to do. :) Thanks for the comment!
I think of a new xl5 model as a beautiful blank canvas. Velineon brushless stock systems don't empress me. Youre or better off starting here and upgrading cheaply with no-name Chinesium stuff for more torque and speed
Great rc. Had one for 11 years now. Very good for a beginner to advanced cause its very upgradable. I learnt by destroying this truck and putting it back together with better parts. Ive changed literally everything on my truck in the 10 years ive owned it. What i have now is not a stampede. Its a complete rebuild. The only original part on mine is the chasis. That being said it was the perfect rc to learn on and progressively transform the ultra fast indestructible beast i have today many years later. The only gripe i have with this traxxas truck is that damn titan brushed motor. Its a giant piece of junk. I dunno if they come with a velineon upgrade option but any new buyer id suggest that. I upgraded after 6 weeks when my titan crapped out and didnt know much. When i did my truck doubled its speed and allowed me to use lipo batts which give you double the run time.
We have the Rustler 4x4 VXL, Bandit VXL, and the new Maxx. We recently bought the 2WD stampede and it is a fun little monster truck. Check out our channel and check out the bashing and high speed runs.
My local store isn't the best so I typically just order from Traxxas but there have been delays or sold out. Still a fun hobby and I am sure things will get better!
The Traxxas Stampede was my first Traxxas RC car and I still love it! Thanks for Watching! Don't forget to Like, Comment, and Subscribe!
This one was my first as well!

I have 2 of them that are 9 years old. Just converted them to brushless. Love those stampedes
Love this truck. I have a brushless Rustler too but keep going back to the XL-5 Stampede. Wheelies everywhere. Plenty fast. So simple. So fun.
Just picked one up for 120, almost new at a paw shop. Got 1 more battery and charger at the local hobby shop

I agree!! Traxxas all the way! 😃

Well made video, thank you. Been looking into getting one. My brother has a Traxxis nitro truck but that takes a lot of time for tuning and upkeep.

This was a really helpful review. Great job!
Thanks! I really like the Traxxas Stampede, its probably my favorite. Hopefully I did it justice in this review.
Nice review/showcase. 🙂👍🏻
Excellent video. Very informative.
How would this truck compare to a laegendary legend and which would you recommend, thanks
I have never owned a Legendary Legend so could not really say. However, I do know a Traxxas will last you forever because you can always order parts.

Imagine one if these with a 3s velineon motor in it with the speed gear
Me watching after i ordered it 😅
You will enjoy it! One of our favorites! Thanks for watching!
Me too 😂
Lol im better im watching after buying 2 of them😂😂😂

Can you also run 2s lipo on the standard titan motor an esc?
Looks like fun!
Subscribed. Thanks for the cideo
To anyone that reads this, please put the optional pinion gear in you will love the truck so much more
Thanks for watching and your comment!
I put a Tekin pro4 in mine and it wheelies for days.
Wheelies get boring when you're trying to actually run around a track or race another r/c
@@grandwaha doesn’t matter to me. I don’t even race on the track.
My dad has a traxxas stampede I am building it rn he got it like 7 years ago
My first r.c and my favorite mine is vxl
One of these days I would like to upgrade to brushless but then my kids would probably run it I to a tree!
4:41 - please :) Engine=IC - Motor=Electric...
Wheelie bar + $40 ebay brushless system + WEIGHT IN THE FRONT = controlled insanity
Sounds fun!
if you don’t get upgraded diffs im not kidding it will literally explode
just ordered one for my 9yr old daughter

Traxxas are good products
Fun
Thanks for watching!
It’s fun until it breaks and because of the stupid stuff in the world rn parts are hard to find
My local store isn't the best so I typically just order from Traxxas but there have been delays or sold out. Still a fun hobby and I am sure things will get better!
It even does some sweet jumps. Then proceeds to do a very mediocre jump.
Get the 4wd version
Also fun!
Buy a brushless!!!
Get 4x4 model
You’re a nerd😅
