Loving this series so far. I appreciate how you touched on what was the real world mythology inspiration for the game lore. Keep up the great work.

I will never forgive Maraketh for treating Nenet like that. Especially that other Maraketh woman from Heist. What kind of rituals and traditions are these? This just makes sense even from practical standpoint, because they reduce their numbers. Mygonist jokes tell themselves. ._. Maybe it's better to have less people to feed as resources are limited but still more people more power and opportunities.
I have no idea how they managed to match proper armies of Eternal Empire, Vaal or Karui, Templar is beyond me. Not only they onsist of women but they should have less warriors and these warriors would probably be more thirsty and hungry. Wait, not only they matched them - it is impliked that they were the strongest. Or maybe Maraketh legons are rarest and most valuable, because they didn't get to have many battles and would usually lose quickly. What do you think?

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. That is a tough question.
In my opinion, the maraketh are an allegoric way of showing misoginy in a theoretical society where women rule over men.
I dont think men are not used in war, they could very much compose the frontline and more dispensable infantry. The title of dekhara carries a trace of nobility, which maraketh men cannot achieve.
In war, I believe the maraketh trive due to quite some factors.
      - they were raised in the desert, so they were far more resilient to the environment. There is in fact evidence that deshret used guerilla tactics. There is an item description that says that they used to play tricks with enemies to convince them that they had far more units than in reality. I will talk about this in the next video!
But yes, it is a valid debate. The whole theme of the maraketh is about the dilema on societies holding on to outdated traditions - symbolized by the sekhema feather quest where you choose the next sekhema - irasha, to keep traditions - or tasuni to start a "revolution"

@@The-Lore-Weaver on the other hand their Sekhemas must be badass as fuck if they need to complete full Sanctum run with 4 floors. xD I wonder if they can cheat during the run like people cheat in lab (remember Chitus?). It doesn't seem like you can cheat much there.
As for querilla tactics. Legion portrasys head on battle between equal size formation of warriors so it implies balance between powers. But as I said theory that they are rare because they would get swiftly annihilated weirdly makes sense. :D Though rarity probably linked to power still. Their archers are insane too iirc.
PoE lore is awesome bro. Wish we get more cinematics or even just semi-animated cut-scenes in the future. Wish PoE 2 delivers here.

I believe the maraketh is the real life counterpart to the Spartans of world history but with an Arabic twist. It would make sense for them to survive so long as nomads in the plains (like the small band of mongols who grew to an empire) and as the nomads of the sands as well (just take a look in real life of how hard it was for the United States to fight small groups of terrorists in the desert even with all its advantages in technology and political power). Guerrilla warfare has an inherent advantage as shown by the loss in Vietnam as well.
With a strict code of survival of the fittest they would be lightweight (maneuverable) as well as resilient due to the fact that they are a warrior culture.
A lot of real world empires fell to the instability of growing too large or of their populace being too weak and unable to contest against the surrounding powers.

Surely! Someone once asked me how did the Maraketh win battles against the Eternal Empire. Well, guerilla tactics of course! They outsmart and outlive enemies in the desert. They even say that the maraketh had an use of blind dekharas ( warriors ) in the battles in the desert, because they could fight enemies in the midst of a sandstorm and not be capped by the lack of vision.
