    Although used as a medication, the blue color acted like a distress flare that alerted this couple. The farmer that sprayed the blue medication saved the puppy's life just as much as the couple and vet did. It was a team effort.

      What’s the blue medicine for

    • @MariSheWolf
      @MariSheWolf 3 роки тому +828

      @@kathyr.8135 Its an antiseptic, anti-fungi and it kills/prevents larvae in livestock. It creates a barrier in open wounds and helps it heal without getting infected, while the colour helps the owners to know which animal to keep an eye on in case it worsens. The problem in this case must've been that the wound was too deep.
      If it was a shepherd, like the vet suspected, they would be carrying it in case any of their animals got injuried.

    • @Abigail-hu5wf
      @Abigail-hu5wf 3 роки тому +309

      @@kathyr.8135 It's a spray-on antimicrobial that shepherds use on their flocks to try to limit infections and infestations when the sheep get injured and might be infected. They're always a very unnatural colour, usually blue but sometimes purple or pink, because it allows the farmer to recognise which sheep is the one that needs additional care whenever the shepherd drives them back to the paddock they sleep in. The farmer can go "oh, the one with the massive blue stain, that's the one that will need treatment for flystrike".
      In this case, it functioned to alert passersby that the dog was injured and needed help. So, it basically did the job it was meant to do.

    Ok, so for those who missed it in the video. It looks like the blue "paint" the puppy was sprayed with was likely an antiseptic spray often used for livestock and other animals that you can spray from a distance. Likely he fell off one of the cliffs and either the previous owner or a local shepherd found him first and sprayed the antiseptic on him to avoid infection. Clearly that is not enough help for the animal but it looks more and more like the puppy had a legitimate accident, someone used a very colorful medication on him, and he was picked up and given further help by this nice couple. The vet even says that it was likely antiseptic so it is not likely that a human went out of their way to beat up this puppy and spray paint on him.

      I think that's true, but I think it's also a bit harsh on dog skin. But someone was probably trying to help. They briefly mention it being the dog's last day in Turkey, which could mean they were in a rural area in a country where it may not be as easy to get care for feral dogs. (Though I can't say that part with certainty.) like a cattle rancher/herder ior some kind. Someone who would have this disinfectant on hand but couldn't stop to help otherwise.

      @intriguing Woman I don't infer ownership by using the term "ours." The terms is meant to express a caretaker - if you will - relationship. We and animals are here together. And if you'd ask me, humans have that responsibility. Good intentions aside, we generally tend to generally fail at acknowledging and understanding it. At the end of the day, my dogs are mine as I am theirs. I care for them and they care for me. Pretty simple.

    Turkey has an ungodly amount of homeless dogs…it’s so sad, so many ppl do their best to feed them…and the dogs like that puppy do get enormous, I follow few groups on social media that feed the street dogs and cats…

      But who is to blame for that many dogs? It must the puppy mills in Turkey that keep churning them out. The public can only do so much.

      Well, there is no option as extermination in Turkey, goverment owns all stray dogs by law and spray them as much as possible. I believe this is still a better solution than killing all stray dogs like many countries do.

      They need a spay and neuter program. Most countries do, they are breeding on the streets due to human neglect.

      @@thejanusproject32 Do you know what a puppy mill even is? Your comment is just stupid. Its stray dogs having stray dogs. When I lived there in the eighties we took in a couple dogs and a cat. There wasnt a huge amount of stray dogs back then. If there was I would of had alot more. Im in Arizona now and have 12 dogs. I lost one dog last week from old age and got another from the pound two days later. I have to keep saving dogs for as long as I can.

    Aww, that's such a wonderful story! I think it was good of the shepherd to help the pup likely in the only way he could. But I'm very glad this couple stumbled upon Blue and were able to save his life!
