Part 4: this is the exact reason that so many people are afraid of bullet journaling. It's devolved into extravagant nonsense on social media. You're not journaling for other people. You're journaling for yourself.
I always start by journaling with my Daily 321: I write down 3 things I am grateful for, 3 things I like about myself, and 3 things I want. It’s a great way to ground my day.
I journal every night on my Samsung tablet. It's the best tool to process thoughts and reactions to any matter, situation, or people. When I go back and read it, I realize not all my opinions are justified or correct. Rather than be impulsive and jump to any conclusions. It helps me rely on myself rather than depend on the external world. It's building the habit of trusting my gut.......
i also journal to catch my thinking errors (for example when i'm depressed or angry). first, it calms me down when i have those bad thoughts and then i can actually correct myself and my thoughts when i am feeling better
Whoever is reading this…Keep going ,you’re doing fine! No matter how slow your progress, each new week is filled with tiny steps forward. Be proud of yourself.
Journaling has helped me to reduce procrastination. But I’ve been just doing it randomly, I will take it more seriously because honestly I’m able to point out what I’ve done in the day. Rather than just doing the day the way it comes.
I sometimes find journaling gives me the same relief as venting 😅 It really helps rationalise my ideas as well as feelings I can’t otherwise articulate.
I actually write on anything and anywhere, I find paper and I just write, my thoughts are every where, I look back at them like wow I wrote that during my training day at work or I was just waiting for my drink. Thoughts come to mind and I write it, it's like an itch - I have to write it so I can remember! My writing are nostalgic it's always remind of person, place or thing, similar to photographic memory! It's a beautiful healthy way to engage in life aspects, understanding and as well as myself!

I've been journaling everynight for 22 days straight. My intent is to do it for 180 days. Instead of dates I count down from 180. I also only write 2-3 lines per entry summing up my day and things I am grateful for (e.g started on entry no. 180 now on no.160.) I also deleted all of my social media profiles. I have been really content with life these past few weeks.
I love journaling, i journal every day in the mornings and sometimes even before bed 😊 it helps me concentrate and plan too, and release any anxiety that builds up
when you feel blank and have nothing to write, you can try writing about your day so far and your feelings during the different situations in your days events. I find this really helpful especially when trying to analyze yourself to be your honest self and increase your productivity.
I don’t agree. Creativity stems from pushing down barriers & walls. At least that’s how I see it. Tell me what not to do, and I’ll be creative af to do “forbidden” stuff
Just remember this: your journal is simply a conversation with yourself. A problem shared is a problem halved, and this is true of journalling. You're not doing it for anyone but yourself. It's about slowing your stream of consciousness, reflecting on yourself, ejecting mental static and discovering who you really are.
the things I learned from this video. how writing your every day thoughts will improve your your life and your brain and help your way of thinking of things. for me it help me alot, back then where I didn't write anything my brain was so slow to the point where I need someone's help, and this is where I found ali he helped alot of things especially helping me discover The wonders Of Journaling. so thank you Ali for friking restoring my life
Thank you for inspiring me. I could not begin to write because I could not find the way which fit me. But this is exactly fit. I started from this morning, and feel very nice. I am difficult to understand English completely, but I will try to listen you again.
Hey! Writing here to improve my writing skills in English. Actually, this is my first time commenting on UA-cam. I'm a Brazilian and I hope that one day I will became fluent in this language. And just one more thing, Thank you for this incredible content!
Coming back almost a year after watching this. I have been using Day One and am LOVING IT. Everything you comment on Ali and suggested has also happened for me. I have gained traction and have a significant record of the year, my process of thought and making my life what I dream of.
i do this for years, its like time traveling when you read your previous notes, but what i really like is i can optimize my storage memory in my head, its ok to forgot some moments just to free my mind in holding datas and infos.
Thank you so much Ali. Journaling is amazing, but you're so much more. I can't express my gratitude enough towards you. You're one of my best teachers ever. 💯
I completely agree that journaling clears the monkey mind. Just writing until the mind feels free then comes the thoughts of “what is most important to me?” Or others that help me clarify my direction.
I journaled every single day in 2023❤❤🎉🎉.....that was a big deal for me. It was wonderful and really helped in so many ways. I used free style and guided prompts depending on the day....sometimes I journaled in the morning or night and sometimes both. Some people really benefit using a commonplace junk journal which is everything and anything....journaling, painting, sketching, collecting plane tickets, movie stubs, concert tickets, menus, recipes, song lyrics, quotes, good books....whatever but some people say that opens a new world for them. ❤
Fantastic! I Love Day One . I can’t believe you don’t use it’s best feature and that is being able to take entry from just audio. I use this daily on my commute into work while I’m driving by myself. Because I like to read the text as well I will use justpressrecord and then import into day one. Extra step yes but it removes all friction of typing if you are not able to when the mood strikes.
Thank you! I’ve fallen off journaling and want to get back to it. Love the advice that I can journal anytime of the day it doesn’t have to be in the morning. Also it doesn’t have to be 3 pages. I’m gonna include you in my journal entry for today! 😀👍
I've been journaling for most of my life and have tried many different kinds. Leuchtturm 1917 journals are always my favorite. I love the ruled and dotted versions! Totally recommend.
I lately learnt that writing by hand involves different parts of brain than writing on laptop. By writing by hand we are in touch with emotions, so for example it’s more convenient when we write about resolutions etc
Wow what an excellent video Ali! It’s definitely therapeutic to be able to solidify your thoughts down on paper and be able to reflect on your day! I think its Great i started as soon as i started watching your VIDEO
James Pennebaker, an American psychologist, has been researching the benefits of journaling since the 1980s. The benefits you're describing have been established (multiple studies with same results, not contested) for 30s years, its almost mind-boggling that people are still discovering journaling
There’s no video I’ve watched of yours where I’ve not learnt something that has helped me. I’m going to start morning pages tomorrow & download the journaling app.
You know what. I just finished my own short book that the main point is to analyze my diary and journalling from my past 2 years. And amazingly you made this video, OMG 😲😲
I went through this video and by the end of it I had to check whether I changed the playback speed to 1.25 which I usually do and to my surprise Ali just really talks at the speed I like people on UA-cam to talk at.
Journaling isn’t really something indie screenwriters do when they’re writing their stories. We keep a journal but it’s more a sketchbook with notes and doodles of scenes
Day one is available on Samsung android, been using it for several months on my Samsung S9 and it works awesome. It syncs nicely with the apple ecosystems.
So, any distance that you can create from your own mind and body functions as a lubricant for life. Essentially when you pen down your thoughts or journal, you distance away from them. This distance is the lubricating factor which helps you firstly to calm down, be less overwhelmed and be more motivated to manage your thoughts (because they don't scare you now).
journaling is really fantastic, once you develop the habit, you'll be obsessed with it. For me, it's a kind of recording of my daily life, and it makes normal days meaningful.
If you journal while you study by adding time for each and every action you take. You can easily filter what you know , what you don't know and what you need to know. You can track where you spend your money. Even while you work with a physical activity you can journal by taking photos and voice recording.

Journaling helped me in improving my productivity time
Somedays I think, overthink and daydream too much. If my brain can't seem to shut up, I journal for an hour and boom! I feel calm again
