-- The Story:
Hi, we are Jess and Rob and we currently live in Prague, in the Czech Republic.
Before, we lived in Switzerland and we actually have met in Florida. We share the passion for travelling and
exploring new places and all together, we have visited 6 continents. Still, there is so much more we want to see
and this is why we are moving from backpacking to van life.
We have bought a 2006 Mercedes Sprinter van and converted it for about a year. Now, we are almost done
and only fine tuning the last details.It really starts feeling like a little home on wheels and the first weekend
and vacation trips we went for only proved us that this is what we want to do.
With the current situation, we had to change our original plans, but one way or the other, our new plan will
definitely include a lot of travelling and exploring.

Since we don't have the garage and the electrical takes up a lot of the space, we were worried about having too little storage space..
However, we are working on a mobile toilet solution that incorporates the closets 👌😊

What a great job you guys did! Of course different people will want different things, so? That’s called individuality. Let them get great ideas from you and go build their own. Haha!

Unfortunately, there is only about 25cm space as the slide out bed comes very close to that wall. There would have been a way but we decided to prioritise differently and solve the shower/toilet differently 😊

For showering we bought an outdoor shower, for the toilet we are still looking. Don‘t think we will install anything fixed but at least some emergency solution has to exist 👌🏻😊

Is it a coincidence, or did you inspire yourself from the van Max and Lee built before they broke up? The layout is exactly the same, down to the fridge, barn style doors and cupboards, antique tub as a sink, chalkboard backsplash, etc...

It is not complete coincidence, the general layout is indeed inspired by them, however we took other elements from other vans as well (for example the kitchen is inspired by our friends from Oskar the Explorer)😊

The bed is easy to set up. When planning for a toilet, think of an enclosed space. You're together in one room. Maybe a bit less closetspace.
Thank you for the tip. We have a mobile toilet now so when needed we get a little privacy by opening the closet doors using those as ‚barriers‘.
Closet space is used up by 1/3 by electrical, dry food storage and bathroom, so not that much room for saving 😅

It looks really nice but I don't think it would be practical for full time van life. The closets would have to go as no one needs that amount of space. A shower/ toilet would be way more useful. Flapping about with the bed would be a nightmare, a fixed high bed with loads of storage under is way more practical. I suppose it comes down to looks V comfort, and for long term, comfort always wins. Very nice workmanship tho and nice decor.
Hi Linda, thanks for watching the van tour. Sure, opinions defer and many will say this layout is not practical.
To the space in the closets, this layout actually offers total less space than the garage one as we also have our electrical in the closets.
Anyways, we believe people have different preferences and in the end it‘s up to every individual how they prioritize 😉
Hellow again all those cupboards you will miss a look and shower I think...

You are right, missing that for the moment but working on mobile solutions. We have an outdoor shower and for the toilet we are narrowing down our options now.
Love thr white decor and your sink. That giant wardrobe is awesome 👌 but 4me....hanging space is important so one side would be hanging space 4 some pretty 👗 dresses....gotta have my cassette toilet too....THAT is non negotiable.

That gas detector is very high up, you'd have to fill almost the whole van with gas before it hit that thing.
You are right, the one that's visible is very high up. This is only for certain lighter gases (e.g. KO gas, etc.). However, this detector has an additional sensor only little above the ground to catch the heavier gases like propane/butane and others😊

I love the kitchen being at the back it's a unique layout plan. The storage space is also great and the appliances being hidden when the kitchen is not in use is also quite convenient and beautiful, it gives the space a minimalistic look.👌

@@ChirpyTravellers Yesss , same as mine. Its really helpful to see what is possible with the shorter wheelbases vans. Often disappointed after watching a tour and it way more room than what I actually have to work with. Thanks for the reply. Happy travels 🚐
@@longhairmullet so true, very often vans with full equipment turn out to be the longer ones but we feel like this one is more flexible and mobile 😅

I would say it really depends on one‘s priorities. We didn‘t have a bathroom ranking that high so we chose a design that reflects what we wanted to focus on. You could also say a bathroom takes up a lot of space compared to how often it is actually used :)
But it‘s a very individual thing anyways, understand it‘s not for everyone :)

Where is toilet & shower ????

We have an outdoor shower and currently finalising a mobile solution for the toilet 👌🏼
What size is the bed?
It‘s 180 cm long and 140cm wide. We are not that tall, so it‘s just alright 😅
