In defense of Brook, his stand against Big Mom and how he referred to her as "young lady" was really badass. MVP of Whole Cake Island.
Facts
Tbf, Big Mom is way younger than Brook. About 30 years I believe.
@@luckyman4906 that's what made it so funny and cool to me, it was as if Brook were saying: "Shut up and respect your elders, ojousan"
I remember reading someone wishing for Brook to call Kaido "spoiled brat" and dear God that would be also hilarious and cool.
He is also much more deep than people make him out to be. His characterization is really subtle, and the way his character is a commentary on death is really cool. Brook has so much heart and charm to him, he can have badass moments, amazing backstory, and a kickass fro. He's honestly my favorite character in OP (probably biased cuz i'm also musician with a fro lol) but I get that some people just don't resonate with him as much
@@luckyman4906 22 years younger, still a lot.

@@justinlapicola8505 And to be even MORE fair, they were definitely trying to sexually assault him.
It took me a second to realize it was sanji
I could be misremembering, but don't the "guys Sanji is afraid of" literally chase him all over the island trying to molest him? And didn't Sanji have to essentially brainwash himself to maintain some level of sanity while he was stuck there? It's a very bad take to criticize Sanji for getting traumatized by objectively not okay people.
It's like: sure, he learned that they're nice people that he can get along with well enough...if he can just look past the sexual harassment.

The one thing defending Usopp during Dressrosa for me is this: He lost his memory of Robin once she was made into a toy. Robin was the whole catalyst for Sogeking, which was where, to me, I saw the most of Usopp's devolopment. After the time-skip, it seems to me like Usopp has sort of become what he envisioned Sogeking to be in the first place, so when he lost his memories of Robin, he also lost his memories of Sogeking, and became the coward he was pre-Alabasta even.
Damn, that’s actually a really sound explanation
@@zaynthemane Thanks, it's not mine. I'm pretty sure Totally Not Mark was the one who first got me to think about it like this. Either him or Grand Line Review, I can't remember which
I don't know how true that is. No one else seemed to have personality changes at the loss of a memory of someone. My understanding is that you still remember events, but the person in those events just becomes a hazy mess you can't really seem to focus on. So Usopp would remember all of Enies Lobby, but not who he was there for.
Also, he came back and defeated sugar, so it's not like he abandoned the Tontatta's completely.
and even then: e buckles down, stops his cowardness and goes back to fight! he technically loses, but still won in the end.
Whenever Usopp stood up to fight, it was always for his crew, his friends, in Dressrosa that was the first time he fought for people he didn’t really know, so I found it understandable and In character to run and not wanna deal with that, then turning around and deciding to fight for people he doesn’t really know, just for the right cause is a big leap forward towards being who he wants to become
Eh - it's a good thought, but Usopp has been willing to fight people outside his weight class since *East Blue*. Remember at the very start of the Arlong Arc, where he (*absolutely alone*) tried to fight a fishman one-on-one as soon as he saw there was Nojiko and a kid to protect?
(*Not* the actual attack on Arlong Park - I'm talking about the part where he and Zoro's old bounty-hunting pals arrive at that village Mohmoo destroyed.)
I agree, in the past Usopp was a terrified but level headed (when compared to the rest of the crew at the time) character. When he started running away from the fight in Dressrosa like he always did in the past, then he stopped himself and forced himself to go back and help was a huge leap in his character arc
My head canon is since he lost his memory of robin he lost most of his character development from around that time.
@@madmiles5288 Prob not "most" but some development yeah, and I don't think that is just headconon. I mean, since it wasn't stated directly it isn't 100% confirmed tbh, but I think that it's atleast fair to say that it did play a role in it.
I think it is because he forgot about Robin. Robin and the whole Enies Lobby arc was big for Ussop’s character development, and when he needed to be brave, he looked at Sogeking. But if he forgot about Robin, then his enhanced bravery, Sogeking, and all of his development during Enies Lobby is lost, which turns him into a coward again.
the best part about zoro is the fact that he seems like a stoic badass who almost doesn't really feel like he fits with the crew, but occasionally you see he's just as goofy and weird as the rest of them. like when they get the modifications to the going merry to ride the knock up stream and his problem with them isn't how ridiculous they look but the fact that chickens don't even fly really, or how he insists you gotta do a tarzan/george of the jungle yell when swing on vines.
Skypiea was peak comedy
What about when he woke up from his dream and scared the whole crew or when he got lost with a litteraly compass right next to him😂😂😂😂
@@user-gk6nt5gi5n that is why he isn’t the navigator
Kaido loved linlin and had a child shanks

ProZD: "Number 8 is a character I really like"
Me: "That's understandable, they're all great characters, and in such a group putting someone low on the list doesn't mean you hold them in low esteem."
ProZD: "And it's Robin"
Me: "Oh, so we're fighting now? That's why you made this video? Because you want to fight me? Bare-knuckle, no holds barred?"
But it's true though.
I love Robin, not as she is but for her potential. The only reason she's not in my top 5 is because there's not enough panel/screen time for her, and she got nerfed IMO.
She used to be stronger, but now she's like a boring damsel in distress that can't punch someone.
I'd say if he was to rate backstories, potential or importance to the development of the story, they'd all be placed differently. Robin is integral to finding Raftel because of the poneglyphs for instance.
@@Zeverinsen I agree. As much as I love One Piece and think it may be my favorite manga/anime, the story kind of repeats itself over time. They go to a new place, people are opressed, Luffy fights the most powerful person there, Zoro fights the second one, the rest of the guys do shenanigans to destroy the bad guys's empire, and then they move to the next place
@@caiorocha1049 I mean, you can see that pattern repeat, because at the end of the day, One piece is a shōnen manga, the ways it builds until the fights is different every time, but at the end of the day you can't leave a place without fighting a villain

She was my favorite Straw Hat after Enies Lobby
But Oda hasn't let her do anything since sooo... I'd make her #9 since Brook fuckin slaps
One of my favorite theories about Zoro is that his family never abandoned him, he just got lost trying to go home.
Also, one of my favorite dumb moments with him is in Alabasta when the marines mention his terrible sense of directions and tell him to go north to the clocktower. When the other Strawhats arrive later and ask why he's on top of the building, he just replies
"they said to go north"
"So you went UP?"
In defense of Usopp, while he did run from the fight initially, he stopped and still went back, just as he's done in some fights pre-timeskip.
the way this makes too much sense-
Sanji reincarnation of joyboy
He just did that cuz the little ppl literal cried, thats ussop, if ppl its not dead or close to, and they dont cry help, he wont help, he is the worst in straw hats, his mentality is even worst than a lot of the villians of OP no jk.
well what if I tell you that zoro is actually dead, he died back at trhiller bark iland when he took all luffy pain, but he got lost on the way to afterlife so he back to the living world
I think he ran because he forgot that he needed to save those children and thought “OH SHOOT I FORGOT THE KIDS”
Zoro's loyalty is so top tier he was willing to throw away his whole dream of being the greatest swordsman, to sacrifice himself for Luffy when faced with Kuma after thriller bark and nobody has any idea he did it.
Well almost nobody. Remember thriller bark was when we first saw Brook. Brook knows!

yeah Brook adds an amazing dynamic to the crew. But honestly, he might be at the bottom as well for me. I really like Brook, but i think I might like the others even more. Although I might like Brook more than Franky. Hard to say.
For real, the huge panel in the manga where he's facing her down, makes him look so badass. Then there's the reveal after he's rescued that he got the fucking rubbings and just casually gives them to the crew like it's no big deal. I swear to god his balls in that arc were so huge that I can't believe he was still able to run on water... But wait he's a skeleton so he doesn't have balls. Skull Joke Yohohohoho!

My theory about Zoro is that he didn't lose that eye, he just scarred himself to look cool.
My theory is that he lost his eye because it has the same sense of direction as the rest of him and cut its way free and got on the wrong ship. Once they land of Raftel, they're gonna find it there waiting for them, wondering what took everyone else so long to catch up to it.
@@lnsflare1 damnit that is so much better then my theory!

You don't need to theorize, it happened on-screen. When he first started training with Mihawk at the start of the time-skip.

"So number 10 is Brook"
I now understand how Garp felt when Sengoku was holding him back at Marineford.
I agree with him at he had cool moments in WCI but not enough for me to want to see him over other strawhats maybe I could put him at 9 or 8 but not any higher on my list

I have never thought of it as "Sanji learned to fly because he was scared of gay people" and it made me laugh so hard I spit out my coffee.
I thought the same. To me he was running because they very clearly wanted him to dress and do things that he really didn't want to do.
I find his saying that Sanji “hates gay people” to be very unfair. If you as a straight man were being chased at full speed by a very large group of ugly, (they’re drawn ugly) hairy, muscular men wearing dresses trying to put you in a dress while creepily catcalling you, what are would you do? I know that most people feel the same way about Chopper and Brook, and in general wish the crew had more screen-time together, but I think there's something to be said about the fact that everyone would love to see those characters developed.
Like, nobody actually dislikes any of the characters, and would actually love to see their least favorite characters more. That's something you really don't get from your average shounen anime.
Like imagine if we had a whole series dedicated to Sakura from Naruto, or Grey from Fairy Tail. Nobody really wants that. But an entire series based around Brook, Chopper, Robin, or Usopp? It's impressive that Oda's least developed main characters still are more likeable than some fully developed main characters in other shows.
Edit: Took out Krillin because apparently people do want to see a full series about Krillin.
I second this
I agreed on everything you said except for what you said about Krillin. I would absolutely love a slice of life series of him and his family.
ProZD's opinion on Brook is in the minority cause Brook is a fan favourite especially after WCI
@@erois6190 Idk about fan favorite but people definitely like him more because of it. Either way, every straw hat character has had shining moments post-timeskip (chopper with law on punk hazard, usopp's snipe in dressrosa), which is honestly quite amazing considering how the story has moved away from the straw hats and towards the entire world.
oh, totally!
In terms of Usopp in Dressrosa, a lot of people are saying that it has to do with the fact that he forgot Robin, therefore he forgot Sogeking and what it was like to have courage, but I'm not seeing people mention the fact that the Tontattas were basically complete strangers that he met earlier that afternoon. In all of Usopp's major fights, he fights for specific reasons.
Syrup Village: He's fighting for the village that he grew up in and loves, also the Usopp Pirates and Kaya
Arlong Park: He's fighting for his own life
Alabasta: He's fighting for his friend's dream
Even in Thriller Bark he fought Perona for the sake of his friends, because he was the ONLY one who could fight her. I could go on, but the point is that every time he's forced to fight, it's for people that he loves and cares deeply about. Dressrosa is first instance where he has fight for COMPLETE STRANGERS, and with no emotional bond to drive him, along with forgetting Robin, he becomes pretty much more cowardly than we've EVER seen him. Don't get me wrong, I was really annoyed with his actions the first time I saw Dressrosa too, because he's by far my favorite character in the series, but the more I've thought about it, the more it makes sense.
Also this is the same arc where he develops Haki otr of desperation, He need it to save Luffy and Zoro from another side of the continent while being chased from having the highest bounty, That for me gives him a edge during that Arc.
Also this is the part where a bunch of morons think he's a god and he end up posing like Jesus on the cross while having his body beat it to pulp... Do I need to explain why's that funny?
At this point When I'm reading new chapters I've stopped questioning Oda's decisions and started just looking for what he might be off screening. Especially rn being the time in the manga being where it's at. Because often when I reread or wait awhile those decisions make more sense and actually help me appreciate the story more. Realizing just how much thought Oda's put into things.
Like Robin not fighting as much. It makes a ton of sense from a character stand point where she spent 20 years fighting daily from the time she was 8 all the way up till the end of Enies lobby. She is tired of fighting when she doesn't have too. But understands her goal will require to too fight from time to time and so she gets stronger. I think she is actually one of the strongest fighters if she has too but avoids it as much as she can. Which works because often the best time for her to go look for things like the Poneglyphs is when the fights are going on and the enemies are distracted.
@@UltraPaperGamer Yeah not too many people mention that moment oddly enough. Easily a top tier Ussop scene
But why was it written this way? Oda could have given a reason for him to care and be invested. Why put a character who needs emotional bonds in a position with complete strangers? Well, to make him a coward, to show that his true nature is self-motivated. And that might conflict with what some people previously thought of him, that he was a *selfless* coward, and people hoped he was developing into someone who would be more stout-hearted in the face of steep odds, not just for the sake of his friends, but for the sake of his friends' *ideals.* And if forgetting Robin, or not knowing the Tontattas very well, is enough to make him behave the way he does, the story isn't doing a good job of communicating that he is a selfless person. That says his ability to face enemies even when he is scared isn't part of him, it's something that Robin makes him do. And that is fine, I think that's still a cohesive story & compelling in it's own right, but *if* you were a person who thought Usopp was going one direction only for him to go another, you could justifiably be disappointed and drop his ranking a bit.
@@Kithara1117The thing is he is conflicted between being selfish and selfless. That is his character trait.
Since I was a little girl Nami was always my favorite character, it just fascinated me how she sacrificed herself for the village, went through so much pain and fough so hard through all the years under the Arlong Pirates. I think a lot of times people really underestimate her strength and that she is one of the most devoted strawhats (These people see her like that because they aren't able to see behind the superficial character traits - that every strawhats has btw - and think that just because she is weak that she's completely useless). Eventhough in comparison to the other strawhats she is indeed physically weak, if there is someone who needs help she will not run away (I think Oda showed that many times like for ex. on Punk Hazard where Nami just coudln't bring herself to abandon the children). Under the surface Nami is actually really brave (just like the other strawhats, but I think it is more important to mention it when it comes to her because she is physically the weakest and for her it takes much more to put herself in danger). Nami is such a special character who is extremely skilled, unfortunately it isn't shown that much anymore but it is just like this with other characters too.
Edit: What's really important too, she is really undoubtely one of the kindest characters in One Piece!
Preach sis ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ
She’s kind in terms of saving lives. That’s not really a description of kind, more so of noble. She’s not in the ranking of top kind characters
Tbh i feel like you just summed it up about how i see her. Shes a very well written character which is why she deserves the #2 spot
I'm not very far into the series but Nami is easily at the bottom of my list for kindest strawhats.
I agree with everything you said nami has always been in my top 2 and sometimes 1 she's one of the few strawhats who gets development each arc
"Brook doesn't add anything to the Straw Hats"

The moment Zoro takes on all of Luffy's pain after Thriller Bark cements him as one of my favorites in the series. Interestingly, that moment is also one of my favorite Sanji moments, when he stands up to protect Zoro.
That moment rlly showed how even with all their silly and dumb bickering and fighting they truly cared for each other enough to give up their lives
It pains me to see Robin so low but you’re right
I still have faith in her because in the long run she's one of the most important SHs narrative-wise. Yes she's been very neglected combat-wise but that's because a very OP fruit was introduced really early and she could beat most non-Logia opponents in anti-climatic ways if she was utilized properly. She is still really strong as she proved when she neutralized Hakuba, a pirate captain, without even breaking a sweat.
I love robin to death but geez she's been so bland after the time skip :(( hope oda does her justice in the future
AirKat, I’m pretty certain that Nico Robin’s Awakening Devil Fruit powers won’t be fully awakened until either the events of Elbaf or on Laugh Tale, and then she’ll be as strong or equal to either Gear 4 Luffy or Gear 5 Awakened Luffy since the only training that Nico Robin got during the 2 year timeskip was the Revolutionary Army, and she hasn’t fought as strong opponents as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji has.

2 things:
1. the main reason Robin sadly doesn't get much anymore is because her purpose in the story revolves in the ponyglyphs, which will most likely relate to the final arc
2. A little disappointed you didn't mention my favorite moment in the entire series, not just my favorite Zoro moment, and I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it but to summarize it: "what happened here?" "absolutely nothing"
Nooo that moment was 😭
i feel like pro likes characters to have more chunky plot armor, bigger fillers cuz one piece fillers unlike others are so suspenseful and emotional, and since they already each had such amazing backstories of course we'd want them to like continue, we know usopp's father is part of shank's crew so he'll get a backstory for that maybe, and overall just emotional and wholesome, one piece isn't all adventure and from the start was always this venture-fantasy explore and stretch-on thing for meh, every character is amazing in my opinion in their own way.
Hes aboviously seen the “nothing happened scene” if he mentioned jimbei and robin in wano💀💀
That's because nothing happened
I get the feeling that this upcoming arc in the manga will be the Usopp arc (as we get into more stuff with giants & Shanks's crew, which relate to Usopp's two big goals) and the arc afterwards will be the Robin arc (as we learn more about Laftel and the secrets behind the poneglyphs), similar to how Whole Cake was the Sanji arc.
With that said, I do agree with ProZD here for the most part. Even when arcs focus on single crew members, these are 100-chapter sagas, there really should be time for characters to get strong moments. Like Oda smartly cut out half the crew for most of Dressrosa & Whole Cake, presumably for the sole purpose of giving the others more time to shine, but like... Robin still felt lackluster in Dressrosa?
One of the scenes that made me love Zoro the most was when he took Luffy’s pain during thriller bark
Same!! That's when Zoro became my No.1
After just looking through random pages in the manga, and seeing a fight scene with Zoro, I fell in love with him 🤣 and it convinced me to watch the anime.
i think where zoro got to me was in bartie where he took the slash from mihawk, as a kid that was the coolest thing i have ever seen
One of my favorite recent Zoro scenes is when he somehow manages to get lost and separated from the crew *while riding the same giant dog as Luffy*
...but, nothing happened!
In defense of Dressrosa Usopp. When he did that Robin was deleted from all their memories via Sugar's power. It actually led to a REALLY interesting and philosophical discussion about how deleting Robin from their memories means that his whole Sniper King arc was heavily affected. So while he was being cowardly, it feels to me that he was set back a bit on his arc.
I think people didn't really get why Usopp left the Tontattas in Dressrosa, and it's actually one of his best moments imo (And I'm not even gonna mention the whole "Usopp forgot Robin & his development" everyone else is already mentioning)
Usopp's entire arc in Dressrosa was about being a hero: He says he's Noland's descendant just so the Tontattas help them destroy Doffy's factory. In all of his previous fights, Usopp always fought for something or someone he cared about (Syrup Village, Luffy & Vivi, his friends, etc) but in Dresrossa, the Tontattas were complete strangers. He didn't have an emotional bond with them to justify fighting against 2 powerful devil fruit users that would sweep the floor with him (He had already forgotten Robin because of Sugar's power at this point) so it completely makes sense for him to escape. He knew he didn't stand a chance against Sugar and Trebol, so he thought escaping was the best course of action.
But here's the part I see nobody in the comments mentioning: *Usopp did come back!* Yeah, it was after the Tontattas asked him to, but he came back. And he didn't really have a reason to do it. Usopp was never a hero...until that point. A hero is someone who fights for people they don't know, despite their odds in battle, despite how scared they are. Usopp begrudgingly came back to save the Tontattas even tho he knew he was going to lose against Trebol & Sugar. And even if he did lose against them, he still managed to knock Sugar out, gain a lot of followers with the whole "God Usopp" thing and even acquired Observation Haki in a brave attempt to save Luffy & Law. Yeah, Usopp made a huge mistake by escaping and leaving the Tontattas behind, but he rectified that mistake and thus, his character grew a lot.
I understand ProZD and many other fans read One Piece weekly, so they most likely spent an entire week thinking Usopp escaped and left the Tontattas behind, but he did come back and had a big character growth in the rest of the Dressrosa. And even with this development, he's still going to lie & run away in the future. That's how Usopp is. What's important is that he doesn't leave anybody behind when they need him.
overall I completely agree with you. But there's actually one point of minor disagreement, if you don't mind me saying.
A hero is someone who shares meat with others. I know this because the man who will become king of the pirates said so!!
Holy shit u wrote an essay dude
@@ltrain7715 of course. I'm not gonna let Usopp libel go around like that.
Ur wrong man a hero is someone who shares his meat.
Beyond that I loved your analysis and Go D. Ussop is my favorite strawhat. I mean he is friends with Sogeking what more do you need 😂😂😂
brook consistently does things that impress me. he's like a tactician. like early sanji/mr. prince shit. he's always making moves silently in the background to support the cause.
Breaking the portrait was really cool
i would see him more like this if he didn't have the panties joke or as much of the corny humor. I would've wanted him to be a more mature character and not self-deprecatory or pervy.
If Bon Clay was a Straw hat he'd be number one, no doubt.
Number 2 actually.

"Number 9: Chopper"
Man, you're not going to make this easy for me, are you?
In your opinion, who is number 10 and 9?
I was like this when I saw Nami at number 2
They’re all really good. It’s hard to put them in order. Even he admits that he likes Brook.
From best to worst in my opinion Zoro Luffy Robin Ussop Brook Sanji Nami jimbe Franky Chopper
And they are all on their best before timeskip. Everything went downhill afterward.
@@siic brooke was at his best before the timeskip you think? Even after combatting a sweets general, trash talking big mom, stealing the poneglyph right from under their noses, smashing mother caramel's portrait, saving carrot, and slicing zues in half which led to the final blow successfully getting big mom off their ship? And thats all just 1 arc.
Robin? More like ROBBEDin.
Pls Oda let her something
She rolls Big Mom away in Wano. Like yeah it did no damage, but it shows that Oda hasn't forgot how OP Robin is.
Also bikini armor. The only thing keeping me reading Wano arc

The great thing about One Piece is that it’s really difficult to rank the Strawhats. They’re all great characters, and even if there are shortcomings or little screentime for some of them, they are still a very important part of the crew, as Oda constantly reminds us.
Brook, who is at the bottom of this list, was the WCI MvP, saved the SH’s asses against Giolla in Dressrosa, saved their asses in Fishman Island and is doing a great job in Wano.
Even with all of these characters, One Piece still manages to make them relatable or to give them time to shine and develop.
Agree one hundred percent, odas a real genius with how he shows that in the end every strawhat is important to the crew and part of the family
Username checks out.
That’s true i don’t think any one piece fans genuinely hates any of the straw hats because they all have something going for them, but it’s definitely true that some are better than others lol.
I like brook, his backstory is fucking horrid. He had to watch as his friends die and then stay on a ship with his friends corpses for 50 years. Even without a ton of description that’s still a date worse than death
Since you emphasized Zoros loyalty: Ive seen it argued that had he not met Luffy he eventually would have become a captain in his own right. Him fully embracing his role as number 2 and never resenting it is an integral part of his character. To him more than the others its an active choice to keep following Luffy and its a choice he makes each day with great enthusiasm.
I dont really see zoro as the leader archetype he's more like mihawk in a sense lone wolf kina guy
@@mynamedontmatter4796 Yeah but every second arc someone mentions how zoro would be a captain in his own right, were it not for how special luffy must be
Except Zoro isnt actually all that loyal. He had mentioned multiple times that he might leave. In water 7 he outright says, do X or I leave. In Fishman Island he mentions that he has a standard of strength he expects of Luffy and not meeting that threshold means he wont follow him.
This fantasy version of Zoro so loyal is so weird to me. He is literally the only strawhat that might walk off anytime.
@@shihoblade when you say do x or I leave I’m assuming your talking about how he said he would leave if luffy went to go get ussop. He said this to keep luffy in line. Even sanji agreed with him. And the fish man thing i feel like he said it as a way of being impressed
Zoro's eye is either one of the following:
Design change by oda
Scar of training
He will open in the next time he will face mihawk
I could totally see that last one. As a penance for having to humble himself to his greatest enemy, and as a punishment for his 'loss' on saboady, he refuses to use that one eye (a real handicap for a warrior) until the time of their fated duel!
Kye Guard ikr!
Imagine the greatness he accomplishes in the manga rn in wano, and that then will be only by the half the coordination he can pull of with just one eye.
Then with the ultimate standoff when mihawk in the later parts of the story, zoro has grown with only one eye, and then uses both eyes... Oh boy
he is guts from berserk now. thats it
Honestly I don’t think zoro will fight the man who he begged to train him it’s simply not who he is. Instead I feel like his last fight will be shiriyu of the rain just bc he’s the sword man for the Blackbeard pirates
Philip Silva his goal is to become the greatest swordsman, and by the most logical means, he needs to defeat the current one to prove that he is better.
It will not be a clash of idiology, hate or conflict. It will be a clash of respect and promises.
Brook: "ProZD ranked me dead last. That's fine, no skin off my back..or at least it wouldn't be if I HAD ANY SKIN AT ALL!! YOHOHOHO"
Me, clutching my Brook figure in front of my Brook bounty poster: STOP IT!! YOU’RE BREAKING MY HEART!!
not that you have a heart, yohohoho....
Hey, not a sanji fan but something I heard once regarding his nosebleed is that each of the big 3 have fatal flaws that are fairly surface level. Sanji demonstrates his weakness with women when the nose bleed becomes a real plot device instead of a joke. Zoro's terrible sense of direction is his weakness, and Luffy is too trusting of others.
Plus his weakness to food especially meat
I think a lot of them have that, especially the 5 from east blue Nami is very greedy, and usopp is a coward
I really like how the characters flaws make it so the other characters are important. One of the problems with say dragon ball is that a lot of the other characters are just not important. Like one of my favorite fights early on is when luffy is trying to fight miss goldenweek with the mind effect powers and luffy is unable to get a hot and NEEDS usopps intelligence to win
Luffy is really good at reading people, his IQ is his weakness as well as his bullheadedness in certain situations
@@wowisntitanamazinglyamazin9550 Yeah, but that part at Whisky Peak was kind of weird that Luffy trusted the people there he met that day over Zoro just because they fed him once
Brook literally MVP of every arc he’s been in. If it weren’t for him in thriller bark they wouldn’t have known about the salt and don’t even get me started on whole cake island... definitely top 3.
Not top 3 for me
@dadolf if not for brook in fishman island then, zoro, him and usopp would have all died, it is also partially his fault that they where in that situation in the first place.
Only in Thriller Bark and Whole Cake
It is his opinion
@@pickleanimation5374 So what?
Let them argue if they like.
How I see Brook is he is always upbeat and lighthearted because he sees his job as being funny and making people happy. That was basically the Creed of the Rumbar pirates, and they died singing. He survived those fifty years by laughing everything off, so he’s probably a little bit insane from that. That is also why he might come off as insensitive sometimes. He wants to always cheer people up.
Brook is kind of a broken man. He spent 50 years with the rotting corpses of his comrades with his last shred of sanity being his motivation to meet laboon again. He is so happy to actually see people who he can call a crew again
Your point when Usopp "abandons the Tontattas" was because Robin was turned into a toy, Sogeking was completely erased from his memory, so i think that's really good writing tbh
That's a great point!
Thats not at all canon. That was something Ive only ever heard from Totally not mark.
Usopp ran away because he was terrified. It was always his intention not to geg involved with their civil war. He lied that he was a hero precisely to escape the tontattas because they captured him, not his friends. It was completely in character abd made perfect sense. Plus since he cant remember robin he had no attachments to anyone there.

@@visible6517 Thank you! I was starting to feel alone on that. This last chapter with Ussop and Nami, like dafuq, I didn't even know they were fighting. I still enjoy it, the story and events are still amazing, but I feel kinda disappointed that some stuff is happening off screen when I actually wanted to watch it. Some times I get the vibe that Oda is really fucking tired tbh
Tbh the okamas were trying to force him becoming one of them. And that’s why he ran, he was cool with ivankov and Bon Clay

@@jinanren2026 I think Oda drew what happened to Bon chan after on the cover page. He basically took Ivan's spot in Impell down.
I think sanji just didn’t want to be kissed by them or forced to wear a dress. And since the okamas saw someone on their island they must have thought he was an okama so they wanted to “help” sanji express his hidden maiden. Like a cultural misunderstanding thing
Glad to see Franky and Jinbei getting the love they deserve
6:07 What you need to remember is that this was just after Robin was turned into a toy and because of Sugar's powers, everyone forgot she existed. This also applied to Usopp and he lost all of his character development from Water 7 and Enies Lobby because he forgot about Robin. I think his reaction was genius from Oda's part.

On the Usopp thing, remember that Sugar had turned Robin into a toy at that point. Part of sugars power is that everyone forgets everything they know relating to the toy person. A huge part of Usopps Strength came from ennies lobby, and it's incredibly hard to divorce that from Nico Robin. So when Usopp forgot Robin, he also lost that crucial development. I think it was a very hard thing to see, but that's the logic that made me see that chapter in a new light entirely
Weird how he talks about Thriller Bark but misses the best moment of his favorite character. Zoro after tanking Kuma: "Nothing happened". Chills.
Brook literally stole an essential poneglyph from BIG MOM who is one of the four warlords!! He's badass and didn't deserve that LOL

And I knew my man Zoro would be on top.
A moment that deserves to be mentioned is when Usopp left the crew and Zoro took charge. He made them understand that letting him back in too easily would be disrespecting both the crew and their captain.
Luffy is goofy and does everything on a whim but he does get serious when he needs to even before Ace died ,he never turned his back to people who needed his help ,hell he wouldn't even ask them whether they needed his help or not he would just help them , I've always loved him for that ,he was always there for his crewmates and was their savior ,I loved how he punched the shit out of that fking St Charlos or whatever his name was during Camie's auction .
Imo he gets serious when he needs to .The only difference I see is that One Piece has not been as humourus as it used to be (not dissing) so Luffy as well as others appear more serious now , remember how Zoro used to laugh and was goofy ? you touched upon it in the video, but i find Oda at his best when establishing a character, he puts so much care into who they are and why they have become that and he is absolutely phenomenal at writing kids so the backstories are for me often the most compelling parts of the story (yes i am a super fan of the post-marineford arc), this all means i almost always fall in love with a new character, but the further we get from their introduction, the more he chips away at their personality until they're left with 2-3 traits, usually the comedic ones, making them mere caricatures of the character we first got to know.

As much as I hate to admit it, you are absolutely right about Usopp. His whole thing, according to Oda himself, was he was just a regular everyday dude throwing himself at monsters and stuff. That’s why him being buff after the time skip doesn’t fit him at all
He is still the thinnest member of the crew (not counting Brook), I don't think that he getting visual muscles makes any difference, he still suffers on physical combat as always, and I think that he would've already died if he had not grown at least a little bit physically (in regards to Dressrosa)
Why is that a demerit tho? Is it more important for him to fit the role of a "regular guy" than the growth he showed by training to help Luffy and the crew better? Also, it's not like he became strong like the monster trio. He just became buff like a regular person will if they exercised constantly lol.
His "buffness" is still regular. Every avarage guy would get ripped as a pirate. He still has regular human strength.
If he went back to being skinny after the whole eating a bunch of food that would be weird
It fits perfectly fine cause usopp said himself he NEEDED TO GET STRONGER. So he comes back not only with more tricks but more buff and that all of a sudden "doesnt fit" for you? Fuck out of here lol

5: Ussop (I have an unyielding connection to early Ussop that can't be severed by his recent disappointment)
6: Sanji (when I was reading the part where he’s crying in the carriage and Luffy is yelling at him, I flooded my phone screen with a downpour of tears)
7: Robin (Robin set the bar for one piece backstories and character arcs in water 7 and Ennies Lobby. She has the highest peak for me.)
8: Jinbe (nothing to hate)
9: Chopper (Drum island is so underrated)
10: Brook (I cried)
It is insane to me that this came out two years ago and we are just now starting a new arc. My lord Wano took forever.
