Here we are 17th January 2019 and I am watching this for the squillienth time and still get tears and goosebumps. Since this performance I have been to more than 6 of Dami's concerts, including the Sydney Harbour Cruise Mothers Day concert and have had the great pleasure of meeting Dami several times and had some great conversations with her. Dami has not only proved that she is the very best singer and performer in Australia but is now loved and admired all over the world. Dami is the most sort after performer to appear at all major corporate and National events and has become the voice of the annual Christmas Carol concerts in Sydney and Melbourne. Quite simply, Dami is the very best.
I have watched Dreamgirls the movie, Dreamgirls on Broadway, I have seen the two Jennifers sing this version. This version by Dami is up there with theirs. All those comments about singing off key and cracking are utter nonsense. This is how the song is meant to be sung. It's a song about a girl Effie singing in desperation to the love of her life who is about to leave her. She's literally shouting out at him to stay with her at the end. And seriously, if Dami is singing off key, Ronan would have picked up on it straight away especially as this is his LAST chance to get his boys over the line for x factor. It's fine if you don't like Dami or her voice or whatever, but this performance is SPOT ON. This is an artist who is in full and total control of her musical instrument. Indeed, as much as I love the Jennifers, I prefer Dami's version as I find the tone and clarity of her enuciation more appealing.
I watched this video no less than 20 times trying to pick holes in it and it still brings the tissues out every time it is like I am listening to the song for the first time only better. I'm not a Dami fan but she sings this song FUCKING AWESOME !!!

i still can't believe that she nearly didn't get through the boot camp, remember she only was brought through because the competition lost a contestant. If that didn't happen we would have had a another winner that year, and no Dami Im... OMG wouldn't that have been unfathomable. Its was just fate... Meant to be.

Gee, can't remember, i think it may have been that Dani had her category, i can't remember if Dami was an over or a the young age group, as i don't know how old Dami is. All i remember that when she stuffed up singing Joleen the song they decided that she wasn't ready and didn't put her through to the last stage. But a contestant that did get in decided to leave the competition she was offered to re enter the competition. And the rest is history.

AGREED @CoMa!!! Dami said she could 'pour in everything' - AND SHE DID! I hear Dami's love of jazz, her classical training, her gospel/spiritual influence (listen to Dami's version of "This Is My Desire") and 'getting her rock on' in this song. With deliberate and measured vocal control, Dami sang a story containing emotion and personality, not just a song! I feel sad for those that don't hear that - too much AutoTune in their life.
Ever since I watched Dami Im, x factor in the USA just can't seem to compare! Love Dami. Best wishes for her career and my hope is that she will come over to the US and dominate our charts as well!!
@ Jennifer, Wow that's a nice compliment for Dami. I've read report that the US version of X Factor is not rating very well. I have came across quite a few comments from people in the US who have viewed the Australian X Factor performances, especially from Dami, that they think it's a better production and the judges are generally positive. We, Dami fans in Australia, have been asking for the US fans to help and spread the word over there. I've seen somebody mentioned on Dami's Facebook page that after she won the Grand Final, NBC news in the US briefly mentioned her and said that she is a breath of fresh air, a talent similar to Whitney Houston. If Dami can perhaps get a guest spot on Oprah or Ellen that would be awesome. I have posted some comments on Ellen's UA-cam channel telling her about Dami, but to date nothing yet. So we'll have to wait and see. But it's just amazing to see that people from across the globe are discovering this emerging star. Her debut album is currently number 1 on the official Australian chart and is also charting in no less than 15 countries.
