I have watched Dreamgirls the movie, Dreamgirls on Broadway, I have seen the two Jennifers sing this version. This version by Dami is up there with theirs. All those comments about singing off key and cracking are utter nonsense. This is how the song is meant to be sung. It's a song about a girl Effie singing in desperation to the love of her life who is about to leave her. She's literally shouting out at him to stay with her at the end. And seriously, if Dami is singing off key, Ronan would have picked up on it straight away especially as this is his LAST chance to get his boys over the line for x factor. It's fine if you don't like Dami or her voice or whatever, but this performance is SPOT ON. This is an artist who is in full and total control of her musical
instrument. Indeed, as much as I love the Jennifers, I prefer Dami's version as I find the tone and clarity of her enuciation more appealing.

dami can sing with any speed but the time constraints on this show pushed her to sing faster.
It is no surprise she is the winner, she was pianist at 10, at 11 studied at the Young Conservatorium of Music program at Griffith University. She graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours in a Bachelor of Music. She completed a Masters of Arts degree in contemporary voice. Her mother is opera singer. As Danii said she can sing any song she got the technique and she knows music.
yeh but don't forget she said her self she couldn't sing properly until she was about 20
aiddogg3 She said she practices her voice on computer since high school to university. I am sure her mother trains her voice at very young age. Her voice needs a lot of years of training. She needs to practice long notes every morning.

i still can't believe that she nearly didn't get through the boot camp, remember she only was brought through because the competition lost a contestant. If that didn't happen we would have had a another winner that year, and no Dami Im... OMG wouldn't that have been unfathomable. Its was just fate... Meant to be.

Gee, can't remember, i think it may have been that Dani had her category, i can't remember if Dami was an over or a the young age group, as i don't know how old Dami is. All i remember that when she stuffed up singing Joleen the song they decided that she wasn't ready and didn't put her through to the last stage. But a contestant that did get in decided to leave the competition she was offered to re enter the competition. And the rest is history.

Rikardo Pardede Sam Bailey is another diamond that only required some polishing and Sharon Osborne did a great job, just like Danni did with Dami. I think that Sam Bailey emotes slightly better than Dami Im.

AGREED @CoMa!!! Dami said she could 'pour in everything' - AND SHE DID! I hear Dami's love of jazz, her classical training, her gospel/spiritual influence (listen to Dami's version of "This Is My Desire") and 'getting her rock on' in this song. With deliberate and measured vocal control, Dami sang a story containing emotion and personality, not just a song! I feel sad for those that don't hear that - too much AutoTune in their life.

Here we are 17th January 2019 and I am watching this for the squillienth time and still get tears and goosebumps. Since this performance I have been to more than 6 of Dami's concerts, including the Sydney Harbour Cruise Mothers Day concert and have had the great pleasure of meeting Dami several times and had some great conversations with her. Dami has not only proved that she is the very best singer and performer in Australia but is now loved and admired all over the world. Dami is the most sort after performer to appear at all major corporate and National events and has become the voice of the annual Christmas Carol concerts in Sydney and Melbourne. Quite simply, Dami is the very best.
I wish this song is longer every time I listen to it......

Ever since I watched Dami Im, x factor in the USA just can't seem to compare! Love Dami. Best wishes for her career and my hope is that she will come over to the US and dominate our charts as well!!
@ Jennifer, Wow that's a nice compliment for Dami. I've read report that the US version of X Factor is not rating very well. I have came across quite a few comments from people in the US who have viewed the Australian X Factor performances, especially from Dami, that they think it's a better production and the judges are generally positive.
We, Dami fans in Australia, have been asking for the US fans to help and spread the word over there. I've seen somebody mentioned on Dami's Facebook page that after she won the Grand Final, NBC news in the US briefly mentioned her and said that she is a breath of fresh air, a talent similar to Whitney Houston. If Dami can perhaps get a guest spot on Oprah or Ellen that would be awesome. I have posted some comments on Ellen's UA-cam channel telling her about Dami, but to date nothing yet. So we'll have to wait and see. But it's just amazing to see that people from across the globe are discovering this emerging star. Her debut album is currently number 1 on the official Australian chart and is also charting in no less than 15 countries.
Jennifer Yang I live in U.S. but American version is nothing compared to Australian. From the talents to the production this year, I feel more connected with Aussie X factor more than my own country hahaha. After they ditched Lillie, i quit watching the show

Never before have I seen comments from people from so many different countries as much as for Dami. What a testament to her talent and well done to Dannii. Dannii was my pin-up girl, we share the same birthday and I also have a sister called Kylie so now that she has done such an awesome job show-casing Dami I love her even more!

While I loved Jennifer Hustons version, I think this is better. She just blows me away and I actually miss x-factor or any of these type shows for the first time ever.

I love how Dami deliberately made her voice rougher to match the emotion of the original version of the song from the movie. That takes skill as her voice is usually always crystal clear & her enunciation so precise so this was amazing on that level alone & her voice sounded fantastic & her performance as well!

Yes, her voice may be cracking or screeching..she has to adapt her voice to suit the judges and she have had to practise for this song..what within a week?
Give her credit..her voice is fantastic..she is more versatile than all her competitors during the competition..I only hope she maintain her compassion for singing and bring out her best vocals in her future singing career..Love her voice..
