It was like one of those moments in life when you going through something and the lyrics of a song hit you hard cause they relate to your situation. MTV not allowing him to show his appreciation for MJ cause of his controversial past but BET giving him that and the song being about bettering yourself. It makes all the sense in the world why it would make him emotional
MJ has some deep, profound, emotional lyrics to his songs man, even “will you be there” is a tear jerker! 🙏
It's very obvious the tears were real. I mean, he made a HUGE mistake/bad decision before that. The song is "Man in the Mirror." On top of Michael being his #1 idol, the words likely felt personal to him and it really hit home as he was ending his performance.

He was a fan. So was I. We both super fans. I cried too for DAYS! Ran a fever got sick everything! Michael meant so much to so many. This is my favorite CB performance because it was from the heart. The goal was to honor Michael’s inspiration. And he did that very well.

I honestly think he realized that he wouldn't be able to hit the notes required to deliver that song, and just pretended to get "emotional". People do it in church all the time. @@Mollllywater Not sure if you're aware of this...but they come from two different places. Tears usually from the corners of yours eyes closest to your nose. His is dry, and sweat travels along your brow line. Doesn't take a genius to figure out he's faking it.
