how do you make grips that stay on going uphill and over sheaves but at the same time detach and reattach at the beginning? I am working on a 6 place chairlift, but I do not know how to do the grips. I have plans for a detachable quad too.
I mean at least the sound of the used motors kinda great :D

this is incredible! amazing how slim and elegant your solution is. ever since I was a child I built cableways from Lego but never though this level of detail was even possible!

About the grip mechanism, it's really simple : there is a rubber band inside the grip which is trying to keep the 3 red axles lined up. When the grip enters the station, a cam is forcing the middle red axle to rotate down, leaving a gap that allows a little wheel that deviates the cable inside the station pass through the open grip.
If you look at my previous video (ua-cam.com/video/yt1U9UKgs8I/v-deo.html), there is some footage at about 0:45 that shows the mechanism quite well :)

this is so cool! do you plan to have the motor only at one station in the future, like full-size ropeways do?
Thanks ! I tried this one-motor configuration, sadly I had trouble making it work because the tension of the rope was getting too low on the untensioned side.
I think Antoineddp acheived that though :)

Hi, could you tell me how do you synchronise the two drive motors to operate the rope at the same time. I am building a detachable gondola and can seem to manage to synchronise upper and lower drive motors, that's why I use 2 on one side only
Hi ! I was using a train regulator with both motors plugged on it, so that they would see the same constant tension and therefore the same speed. This one : www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=4548-1#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}
Sometimes the two motors are in a different wearing state and don't rotate at the same speed without load... You can test this by using a differential, plug one motor to each output shaft of the differential, if the cage turns then the motors aren't synchronized.

Great job! I am totally amazed. I would like to build one like yours for my children. I dreamed as a child to be build something likes this. Is it possible to buy any of your plans for building this? Or maybe if you know some othere place where to get instructions to build such a complex gondola similar to yours? Best regards, Pal

I haven't made instructions yet, as I still haven't reached my goal : making a gondola easy to setup and reliable enough to run a full week-end without any issue. When I reach this goal, I'll make instructions and share them, probably for free. Version 30 is well on its way, it may be the one ^^ Things are gradually improving but with 27th to 29th, I'm still not done.
Also, I highly doubt you could find any instructions for a detachable gondola : as far as I know, there are about five different ones on UA-cam including detachable cable cars (multi-rope). Those I know : TheTimmy376, eliasiten, Dennis Aldejohann.
I'm sorry if this disappoints you, but in the little world of lego detachable gondola, we're still far from a "plug and play" one. I hope this will be possible one day !

Oui j'avais vu ton teaser, c'est très prometteur :) Je pense que tu peux arriver à une meilleur fiabilité avec un 3S qu'avec une TCD, puisque le chariot de la cabine repose toujours sur un support (câbles ou rails en gare) contrairement à la TC où l'interface change à 100%. Hâte de voir ta V2 en tout cas ! Et bonne expo, malheureusement Nantes c'est à 1000 bornes de chez moi, j'aurais eu plaisir à venir discuter avec toi :)

Ta télécabine est géniale. Réaliste, fonctionnement fluide…
J'essaie de modéliser ta télécabine et j'ai presque fini. Mais je suis bloqué et n'arrive pas à voir quelques parties du systèmes. Pourrais-tu poster des photos du rail courbé au bout de la station ? Il me manque également le système de la roue qui entraîne le câble. Si tu veux voir mon plan n'hésite pas !

Je suis curieux de voir ton travail ! Malheureusement je n'ai presque pas de photos de détail de ces versions-là. Les vues générales ne permettent pas de voir les détails, c'est encore sur les vidéos qu'on voit le mieux la mécanique :/
Pour ce qui est de l'entraînement du câble, j'avais utilisé une roue de motocross : cette jante www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=88517&idColor=85#T=C&C=85 avec ce pneu www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=11957&idColor=11#T=C&C=11
La poulie était montée sur un axe maintenu en haut et en bas (important car toute la tension du câble passe par là).
Le rail courbe était construit avec ces pièces : www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3830#T=C + www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3831#T=C et leurs équivalents en plates, et la forme circulaire était maintenue grâce à des rigid hoses de 3mm : www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=75c26#T=C
La télécabine est démontée depuis quelques années maintenant :)

@@pg5200 Désolé de te solliciter à nouveau, mais je me demandais si le bloc qui supporte la roue qui entraîne la câble était incliné. Sinon est-ce que la rail incurvé au bout de la station est fixé à l'axe flexible où à l'arc de cercle jaune qui ne bouge pas ?

Le bloc qui supporte la poulie est incliné en effet. L'idée est qu'en entrée de gare, la pince vienne se poser sur le rail, ça nécessite que le câble soit légèrement incliné. Je ne suis pas sûr que ce soit indispensable, mais ça aide.
De mémoire, le contour (c'est le nom du rail incurvé) est fixé au 1/4 de cercle jaune immobile, mais ce n'était pas possible de fixer chaque "segment" à la pièce jaune. C'est la raison pour laquelle j'avais utilisé ce "rigid hose", chaque segment était fixé dessus ce qui permettait d'avoir une courbure bien uniforme :)

@@pg5200 En fait, j'avais aussi construit la version précédente de 2013, mais je voulais m'attaquer à la nouvelle. Et en effet la câble déraillait parfois au débraillage car il restait accroché à la partie supérieure de la pince. Donc réelle amélioration ! :)

Aux gares, pour les virages tu pourrais mettre plus d'accroches sur la roue pour pas que les cabines aient un petit temps d'arrêt.
Sinon moi aussi j'essaie d'en faire mai mes tests sont ridicules à côté de ce que tu fais.

En fait, le temps d'arrêt est voulu :) Il permet à une cabine qui aurait pris du retard de le rattraper sans ralentir les autres. C'est une des manières de gérer le cadencement (écart constant entre les cabines).
Bon courage dans tes essais, persévère, quand je regarde aujourd'hui les essais que j'ai fait en 2010-2011, c'est effectivement ridicule à côté des résultats actuels ;)

@@przemeksosna980Why not, I've some ideas about how I could mechanically automate the movements, including acceleration/deceleration phasis, of a standard cable car. A DMC could also be very interesting to make. But any of these projects is really time-consuming and as I'm rather a slow builder, I have to take them one at a time ^^ Thanks and have a good night !

@@austayo There were many ! Mainly due to the fact that, when running such a complex machine during hours upon hours, the motors heat up, some assemblies and the rubber bands inside the grips get loose, the cable lengthens (which decrease the tension and modifies the whole balance). Also, some dynamic situations can happen (I once saw the cable get into resonance, the cabins were swinging heavily ^^). These kind of things ^^ Not mentioning the adjustment and alignment problems.
