I recently saw Marillion a in Atlanta. My wife, who habitually listen to "Horse Jazz" (Country Music), reluctantly joined me. On the way to the concert she declared that she "will be bored after 10 minutes". However, after 10 minutes of Hogarth and F.E.A.R. she became a fan and is now listening to Marillion on her commute to work! She has a lot of albums to catch up with!

I just had a dream that Brave was released about 22 years ago and that I'm approaching 50. But that can't be right, can it? It was in the last few years and I'm in my mid 20s, yes? And I didn't end up buying three copies either, did I?
Still spellbinding. And from this, improving over time.

Been my favorite band since I first saw them on MTV performing Kayleigh. I feel every note, every nuance of their special, sonic gifts. It's hard to describe them to the uninitiated...no one sounds like them or can can close to the level of emotional experience they bring to your ears.

In 1983 I was 13. I heard Script for a Jester's Tear in my cousin's flat in Wroclaw (German Breslau before WW II). That was the beginning. Now I'm 53 and thinking about that boy - as he was listening to Marillion. And wondering if time exists at all. Seems to me now that there is no time at all. People die but do not die. Greetings from Poland.

    Credit where credit is due..
Steve Hogarth has the voice of an angel....
Immense lyrics, sung from the heart with an ocean of emotion...
Could listen to the opening few minutes for the rest of my life.

    What a brave, brave girl
    Never lied before
    Such a plain deceit
    Everyone would eventually know
    What a brave, brave girl
    Never loved before
    Placed herself in reach
    So he tried
    In his own way
    To find the heart
    Of the tight-packed rose
    She's gone now
    But oh, she aches
    She aches
He will search until he's found
A way to take the days
See her sadness in your face
    She's inside you
    And she's crying

One of the best and underrated / "undiscovered" prog bands of all time. Both eras. Their use of sonic atmosphere is astounding. Pure genius. There are so very few bands who display such emotion that they can actually make me cry when i immerse myself. They can rip your heart right out of your chest. This album, Misplaced Childhood, and particularly Clutching at Straws. Not for the faint of heart. They do it on purpose, though, and there is usually some form of healing (or acceptance) at the end of the album. Wow.
