I am sure you will get inundated with comments from the core fan base called the "wolf pack" as they like to flock on lovebites reactions 😅! This group are the epitome of 80s and 90s power metal and to me are the holy grail of this genre! So far they have 60+ songs and not a bad one amongst them. One thing is certain many more will fill in the gaps I have missed! I would recommend a song from the 2020 concert at Zepp diver city called Holy war and the 2023 MV of "Stand and deliver". 60 songs, no two the same and definitely no way to categorise the band other than the way they describe themselves…heavy metal. At 63 these ladies are the best thing to happen to the type of music I like (anything with electric guitar and strong vocals). I cannot praise them highly enough, but every evening (U.K.) I try. Best band of any genre ever.

Lead singer ,Asami. joined Lzzy and the boys at Download 2019 to perform that song. Miyako and Midori (blond pony tail) can shred with anyone. Haruna is a beast on drums. New bassist ,Fami , is seen here on the title track and first single from the new album. Fami joined in October 2022, after original bassist and band co- founder ,Miho, decided to leave in 2021. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. I would say this is more powermetal than symphonic metal. Symphonic metal is more like Nightwish and Epica Within temptation, Stratovarius and that stuff.. And Japanese Bandmaid is more hardrock with different influences. Even Lovebites have other influences in other songs like plain metal and hardrock and trash. But firstly I would say they are a powermetal band. Just like Unleash the Archers from Canada and BattleBeast from Finland. It all depends on what you like to listen to. They can be power metal or straight up thrash metal or hard rock/ metal. They can pretty much do it all. I would maybe go with Set the World on Fire live version.
LOVEBITES are one of the most musically talented rock bands on the planet, possibly the MOST musically talented, especially when you factor in Miyako's concert piano level skills (not shown in this song obviously). Formed in 2016, the band is named after the Grammy winning Halestorm song , Love Bites (So Do I). Lead singer ,Asami. joined Lzzy and the boys at Download 2019 to perform that song. Miyako and Midori (blond pony tail) can shred with anyone. Haruna is a beast on drums. New bassist ,Fami , is seen here on the title track and first single from the new album. Fami joined in October 2022, after original bassist and band co- founder ,Miho, decided to leave in 2021. Some songs lean towards power metal, and some towards thrash, and some ballads.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. I would say this is more powermetal than symphonic metal. Symphonic metal is more like Nightwish and Epica Within temptation, Stratovarius and that stuff.. And Japanese Bandmaid is more hardrock with different influences. Even Lovebites have other influences in other songs like plain metal and hardrock and trash. But firstly I would say they are a powermetal band. Just like Unleash the Archers from Canada and BattleBeast from Finland.
Both with female front singers and both also along Lovebites and Bandmaid my favorite bands.

Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018.

In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward.

The Four Non-Blondes song you were trying to think of is "Morphine and Chocolate," great song! I can see the resemblance between Asami's voice and Linda Perry's voice at times. Most fans tend to compare Asami to Bruce Dickinson or Ronnie James Dio, though she is actually trained in R&B and Soul and is inspired by R&B singers like Alicia Keys.

LOVEBITES are one of the most musically talented rock bands on the planet, possibly the MOST musically talented, especially when you factor in Miyako's concert piano level skills (not shown in this song obviously).
