Nice video! Where can I get the workshop manual? Once you drain the mechatronic oil you just fill it through the main drain hole? If I fill through the filter hole, will the oil go to the mechatronic unit as well? On my attempt to change I didn't drain the mechatronic oil. I guess that is why my excess oil was coming out really dirty.
You will need Adata for that ,which is very expensive.I got the info from a friend. And yes, the oil goes inside the Mechatronic unit as well. Yeah it is the 1,2 l stuck in the Mechatronic for sure
nice video, i have both DQ250 6spd and DQ500/OBH 7 spd... on the dq250 i always change the filter, but the 500 it's so annoying to reach to the filter. it seems like dealers do not change the filter on its first service... how often do i need to change that filter? is every other oil change okay?? cos if no need to change filter its a much easier job.
Just like for the DSG6 once every 60000Km or 40000miles. Some people sent me articles about the fact that you do not have to change the filter. That is nonsense. If you want to keep you car in perfect shape you can not let the old oil from the filter to contaminate the new one.Hope that answers your question.
The manufacturer does recommend changing every o-ring and washer for any new component you install. However , as a unofficial advice ,I do not think it is necessary for the first and second maintenance job. They do wear in time so you might want to renew them after that so you avoid any leaks.
@@TheDIYWorkshop2020 i managed to get the drain plug OEM drain plug washer. having a tough time sourcing the mechatronic drain plug washer though. and sorry i only meant the washer, rubber o-ring is definitely going to be changed. it'll be my 2nd dsg service so hoping the mechatronic washer will be ok. thanks

Ok, I answer to myself. I got confused as it was said coolant pipe so I thought there goes coolant. Actually it is charge air pipe so no coolant there and no need to drain the coolant. One thing to be noted is that add container or plenty of rags under the transmission when you take the filter out. Even though you wait for a while for it to drain still 1-2dl overflow to your floor. Vac and blow compressed air to get all the dust and grit around the filter cover to prevent anything from going down the filter hole. It is pretty tight space there and you need to wiggle to get the cover out. It was pretty easy to do by following your step by step instructions.
Hello, I need help. My Tig II 2017 2.0 TDI 190 Hp 4 motion DSG7 has 12000 kms. I want to change engine oil. Shall I change the OIL FILTER as well or not? As it is not easy to access and a bit tricky to replace. Thanks. Appreciate your return.
Dear Aziz, we strongly recommend that you change the oil filter as well. Used oil will remain in the filter and will contaminate the new one. This does not mean that your car will brake but it might affect the longevity of the engine.
@@TheDIYWorkshop2020 Thanks for your reply. if I understood there are 2 oil filters, one for the DSG 7 gearbox and one for the engine. is it correct? My main concern is where is located the Engine oil filter in this model ? 190 Hp DFHA....
@@TheDIYWorkshop2020 No, I watched the entire video, but I apologize because at first I thought it was the engine oil filter. It looked like it, but I watched more of the video and I understood recently. Thank you.
That is up to the owner. If you care about your car and want it to be in perfect shape all fluids must be replaced. All that "DSG7 needs no oil change " is just VW marketing in our opinion.
The duration of what "Life" is depends on how long you want to keep the car. VW said the same thing about other manu-matic transmissions (i.e. Tiptronic), but if you do nothing, that "Lifetime" fill results in transmission problems around the ~150K mile mark. For a dry clutch transmission, you probably should change the Gear Oil at ~60K miles or shortly thereafter.
