I don’t have a physical type. I’m more attracted to personalities. When I do start liking a guy, it is tempting to think there’s something more to it, especially since it’s so rare that I like anyone, but I’ve learned from experience it doesn’t mean anything, except that I like him. Maybe he’s just likable, or at least is good at pretending to be. Or maybe it’s just me wanting to be in a relationship and thinking he seems safe enough. I had to learn the hard way. There was a guy at what seemed like the perfect time and he seemed to really like me and claimed to be a devout Christian, so I thought okay this is who I’m supposed to be with even though I initially wasn’t even remotely attracted to him. Well he must’ve realized I really liked him because his whole demeanor changed, and long story short I started feeling like I was the ugly one. He was the most shallow and judgmental person I have ever met. At first I was trying to be this better person for him, but fortunately I quickly snapped out of that. I didn’t like feeling so self conscious, and it quickly got to where I couldn’t stand being around him. It’s just incredibly grating when you’re accepting someone as they are flaws and all but they’re not accepting you. Now I pray for clarity and protection and wait for things to unfold naturally, or not at all. Some people are just meant to be your friend or in your life for a season. Maybe they just needed a friend or God’s working through you to help them.
I have a question… sometimes Christianity scares me. I’m not trying to be rude or judgmental at all but I have a lot of fear surrounding the religion bc it seems like we can’t do anything. We can’t have crushes? We have to give up crushing on ppl? Ik we have to deny our flesh but it’s so scary. We can’t simply crush on somebody without feeling guilt and having to give it up idk like I said I’m not trying to be rude but I won’t lie seeing stuff like this triggers me about the religion because it’s like we can’t do anything and it’s really hard. I hate to say this but it’s like we have to live a life of misery to please God Ik that sounds horrible and Ik it’s wrong but that’s how I’ve been feeling lately. I’m open to insight and feedback I’m trying to get right with the Lord but there’s a lot of stuff about the religion that scares me.
Hey Alexus! It’s okay to wrestle with those feelings and I admire your bravery to speak your mind. With that being said, there’s no shame in liking someone (as mentioned in this video). You’re human. You have attractions. However, God wants the best for you. He wants you to be protected and free (sexually that is) with one person through marriage. God knows we have these desires which is why He instituted marriage. Attraction and sexual desire is normal and celebrated in the right context. With all that being said, as Christians and non Christians alike, we will find ourselves being attracted to multiple people in our lifetime. Does that mean that we should pursue relations with every person (single or married)? No. So then what do we do with those desires? This is what my video sought to discuss. Hope that gives you clarity :) Also, don’t be afraid to go all in with the Lord! It will always be worth it in the end 💕
