First off, thanks for the shout out and great name for the shed. Secondly, I love the brigade boxes for Epic. It's a great way to slow grow into Epic Waterloo, ACW and Pike & Shotte. Lastly, a great way to make a full army out of one brigade box. Very thoughtful way of getting an entire army on the board without investing too much money. Well done, Mark! Keep it up!

Not to mention all the PAINTING. I swear that's at least equal to the COST of buying all the miniatures. Painting a stand of epics in a couple of evenings and being able to play a scenario is more achievable than painting a couple of individual figures over several evenings and being frustrated that you'll never play Waterloo or Gettysburg because there's a couple of thousand figures to paint.

I'm actually thinking of going that way for most large size scenarios (Gettysburg, Waterloo, etc.) - I mean most board games only have one counter representing a single unit most of the time. Cuts down on figure painting and board size magnificently.
One might also go with a two unit regiment, dividing the unit into two "wings". If you're doing Napoleonics, one wing after the other with both facing front would be a column - then you could use that counter or even a coin with heads being Assault Column and tails being March Column.
Both bases side to side obviously is Line. And back to back would be Square.
Another variant might be to create a Regimental Colours stand. Two wings and a regimental color comprise a Regiment.
If the two stands are facing forward with one after another in column, placing the Regimental colors out in front means Attack Column. Putting the Regimental colors to the side means March Column.
The two wings next to each other facing forward with the colors in the center could be Line of Battle. Then back to back with the colors between mean Square.

I like this idea with a single base as a regiment. I Will try it out. 👍

Meanwhile, I am actually going the complete OPPOSITE way for smaller battles with Epic Scale. To simulate Grand Tactical small unit actions, I am thinking of going 1:2 or even 1:1 scale or at the very least having each 20 man/2 sprue stand represent a company. Totally the opposite direction, with a brigade box of Epics representing a single regiment in detail.
This would then simulate small unit or single/double regiment actions like being Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain holding Little Round Top against Colonel Oates' Alabamians, maybe a grand tactical simulation of Hougoumont or La Haye Sainte at Waterloo or, the one I'm actually working on, the Great Combahee Raid by the freed slaves of South Carolina formed into the 2nd South Carolina Infantry Regiment (Colored). The raid was notable for having legendary African American freedom fighter Harriet Tubman acting as a guide and scout and helping liberate upwards of 700 enslaved people, including more than a hundred enslaved men that joined the Union Army. So the plan is to represent the 2nd SC at company scale with PLENTY of flavor - you can order your company to bring captured loot from the plantations back to the gunboats but of course they will be very vulnerable while doing this. You will not know the strength of enemy resistance and it could be as weak as a few disgruntled plantation owners and scattered Confederate Home Guard to a whole (and very angry) Confederate Brigade with artillery.
Each company will be represented by one 20 man stand PLUS one company commander and drummer on a single stand. If the commander is out front, then the company is ready for battle. If he is to the side, the company is marching. I am also doing a second set of company stands of up to four figures per sprue (breaking up the original sprues) and have added loot and pillaged items to represent a company bringing items back to the gunboats.
The regimental colors are a separate stand as is Colonel James Montgomery and Harriet Tubman. I hope to even have some Northern newspapermen and a regimental vocal choir singing Negro Spirituals as part of the display.
And thats whats cool about epic scale. You can go big by going smaller with single regiment or even single brigade stands (I may do that for Gettysburg and Antietam someday, brigade size stands) and make the small unit actions epic by going closer to 1:1 in figures on the board.
