I stopped watching the series after this episode, the rape of a man played for laughs is more than a little distasteful.

There's far more depth to it than that. Sue White is obsessed with Mac and wants to impregnate herself with his sperm. When Caroline Todd finds out about it obviously she's horrified because she's in love with him, but also she specifically exclaims how unethical and immoral it is.
