Boston Dynamics is an engineering and robotics design company that is best known for the development of BigDog, a quadruped robot designed for the U.S. military with funding from Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and DI-Guy, software for realistic human simulation. Early in the company's history, it worked with the American Systems Corporation under a contract from the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) to replace naval training videos for aircraft launch operations with interactive 3D computer simulations featuring DI-Guy characters. Marc Raibert is the company's president and project manager. He spun the company off from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992. On 13 December 2013, the company was acquired by Google X, where it will be managed by Andy Rubin. Immediately before the acquisition, Boston Dynamics transferred their DI-Guy software product line to VT MÄK, a simulation software vendor based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense responsible for the development of emerging technologies for use by the military.

If this is what they are showing us...imagine what they really have....?
I'm not sure if these units have AI, I don't think so, they look programmed, what I'm pretty sure about is that they must be developing a strong AI so they can make their own decisions. Also, the Atlas is everyday faster and powerful, imagine all that ability together with it's own "brain". That could go really wrong or really great.
Terminator types
An to think it was a very few years back that they did not have a robot that could walk cause it could not balance. An to think how far they have came an what the future holes for man kind. They are developing faster an faster just lime everything else look at our first cell phones an we did not even have internet when Clinton came in office.
Only a glimpse of their inventions in their hideouts underground laboratory and manufactories
Good point.
If there is singularity already going on with such

The sand flea one is terrifying in implications; Just imagine it with G.P.S. targeting and a C4 charge...

Great job, you engineers!!! I worked with engineers and loved to see the final project! 👍🇺🇲
They can build robots that do all this stuff, but cant fix the potholes on my street?
yeah ive been noticing that too
drvannostran
😂😂😂 I'm weak
drvannostran That's too expensive...
Why would anyone care about such petty things when some can build robots
drvannostran cause they could give less of a shit about us debt slaves
Just a little reminder folks, if it's being shown to the public then what they're REALLY working on, the SAP (Special Access Programs), the good stuff, is 5, 10, or even 20 years ahead of this. Take, for example, the development of Lockheed's SR-71 Blackbird, it was kept secret through the 1950 and early '60's, the multi-faceted F-117 Nighthawk for 14 years, Northrop Grumman's B2 Spirit bomber for nearly a decade, and the still-yet-to-be-revealed-but-highly-likely Aurora, aka SR-91, has reportedly been under development since the late 1980's to early '90's as a replacement for the SR-71. What I find most frightening is seeing companies like Google (of which I'm a fan), creators of DeepMind an Artificial Intelligence, buy robotics companies such as Boston Dynamics (the purchase was made in 2013 but recently there's been talk of Googles desire to sell it). I view the inevitable convergence of autonomous drone tech, robotics, quantum computing and artificial intelligence (as well as the US Air Force's recent developments in autonomous drone SWARMS) as both extremely exciting AND terrifying. They've already managed to create a real-life SkyNet, both literally and figuratively in two separate programs. In a world ruled by Moore's Law, where technology (especially information technology) speeds up exponentially, are James Cameron's Terminators really so far fetched?
Don Michael Corbin Trust me James Cameron terminators will be here is just a matter of time.
Not possible that AI exist. No shit man im not that crazy to believe that. Or does it? It is obvious that future will be using robots. Look at drones at middle east conflicts. There was a blue ray tech about 30 years ago and it was officially written in science magazines . But AI?
The CIA would like to have a chat

Allright. Everything possible is done here. All engineers can go home now.
Boston dynamics....
I have a bad bad feeling about this.
Fun times are ahead.
Lol, they are not even sentient, they CAN'T take over! At least the one's shown cant
YOU ARE RIGHT 100%
Don't worry there is an off switch
Yes. Scary.
There is only one reason why this is so terrifying. Man is a blood thirsty builder! Behold, every angelic toy is also a death demon.
Yup
The BigDog has insane reflexes. I would love to have one for hiking trips.
For military purposes, though, I wouldn't limit these machines to using legs, for travel on roads. They should add wheels to these things, where they can take off down roads, and switch to the legs when it comes to rough terrain.
Not to mention that the chainsaw sound it makes is hardly tactical.
They can make something like handle, has legs and wheels
@@supercellonova bigdog robot was discontinued in 2013 after loud noises
See? That last robot got too smart. He got tired of being messed with and having his box smacked out of his hands. Damn thing just walked right out the door!
Smart robot indeed lol
+James Demos Robot was like "fuck dis nigga I'm out!"
Right!!!
Why are they trying to make them in our image? PETMAN was a bit weird, why does a robot need clothes? Would they not try and mimic the anatomy of something more stable. I know they did bigdog but they might as well be building robotic pandas because we're just as fuckin clumsy lol
PETMAN was designed to test chemical protection suits for humans. As for the humanoid shapes, so far they're one of the most adaptable for different situations. Yes, nature does have creatures that are better suited for the environment they're placed in but that's their limitation. Having an adaptable design is better for general work than a specific one, unless of course that job specifically calls for a machine that has to do one job.
i cannot imagine how much satisfaction in the creators when they could give these kicks to their robots! amazing lol
I am stunned on viewing the activities of the robots. The robots will, in my view, bring revolution in the world beyond imagination.
Wow The big dog slipping on the ice and being able to manipulate it is truly an incredible feat of engineering

This MUST BE STOPPED. .. or it will stop us
Nooo we are doomed
The longer you look at BigDog, the more it appears like it's made of two people walking while facing each other altogether. It's unsettling, combined with that nerve-racking whirrling engine noise. It's like something coming off Silent Hill. Also, wouldn't the noise make it an easy target?
One day these things gonna be coming after us. It's only a matter of time
Understand this: (Why did they build it? Because we can! ) This philosophy will, and always has been, one of our biggest flaws. And will end us. IGNORANCE!

Also, there are old Era references to these same things and their systematic destruction. Apparently people didn't learn, so here we ago!
Stupid F'ing Oomans.
I mean considering how we treat each other now, I wonder why anything humans touch ever ends well. We build it for a specific purpose then try to militarize it.
@@jalfredosamurai it is kinda sad how much people show complacency to so called authorities in search of money. They even try to tell us what we want and need so we can go back to menial labor and crap jobs pulling apart our own home. My only consolation is that humans have likely been heavily influenced and manipulated to do these self destructive acts. I have a hard time seeing what good can come from strange new tech introduced to us via the same jerks that have us doing crap work. Seems people were made for more.

Look up cyberdyne robotics just like in the terminator movie. Its real there are even UA-cam videos on it. Google it, there are in Japan, probably many other countries well.
Your imagination is soon to be real
Quite good video, awesome! Would you like to be youtube friends? :]
You know what's incredible to me is not the little guy but the 4 legged pack mule that actually utilizes Artificial intelligence to perfectly navigate it's surroundings when encountering obstacles like ice. It took me 10 years to gain muscle recall mechanics that allowed me to move without thinking but AI is thinking the whole time and doing it with lightning speed. Scary if you ask me. We all know what the DOD is about and who controls them. People better wake up or humanity will be enslaved forever by AI...
To me it was not murder robots, but a starting point for a future robot with the love of engineers. The first step is very small, but at the end you can make something big.
boy, I'm glad all the right kind of people hold all the power already so this kind of stuff won't fall into the wrong hands when they attach guns to them...
(SARCASM)
Well they created these things so they can do what they want
tramar thomas
They didn’t create them. They just hold the money and power so will be able to exploit that new technology when the time and the need arises.
By ‘they’, I mean the establishment (or the upper echelons of said).
@@DAN_ZEMAN producing them, creating them, whatever. You remind me of the guy who said the robots look like they're designed for hunting.. Too many scifi horror movies you dudes are watching. Not a single damn robot, unless its stationary like a torrent or it has four wheels will be able to carry a rifle. It's complete nonsense
tramar thomas
What utter nonsense you speak.
Where is evidence that no robot can ever carry a rifle? They can put smart missiles on plains and anything else. Artificial intelligence Goode’s and fires the drones. AI lands the Tesla shuttles. But they’ll never be able to get a robot to fire a gun?? Very naive position.
They already released a gun platform from Kalashnikov years ago. A tracked unit with a mini Gatling gun.
Need I say more? Look for yourself.

11:40 I can only imagine standing infront of one of these headless handless killer machines , asking you to show your ID !
They will have head with humanoid features or like the ones in "Terminator -The Machine ".
There are some that look like humans NOW.
Because you haven’t saw how impressive 2024 robots are. This PETMAN robot is from 2011 and is dumb compared with new robots.
I can already see those AT-AT Walkers becoming reality...
15:00 That's the way I go home after a party.
Then you can do more than they are doing 🤣😂😂

That man with the last robot should be careful, as it may turn out to be a terminator one day
The last robot got shoved and fell forward to the floor. He got back up. Then said, "screw this hostile work environment!!! I quit!!!!" And, walked out the door. 😂!!!
As a tech/science lover I find this awesome and scary at the same time. 😂
The music make me feel like something big is coming...
Yeah,,,,it,s true
These guys building this robots are genius with a touch of extra terrestrial
couple of thoughts: I'm in the park and I see one of these things running toward me in the parking lot, I would probably pee my pants
I see a guy walking down the street with one of the little ones on a leash (rather a chain) and it stops at a fire hydrant.
In the building, a man walks up and pushes the robot with a hockey stick, and knocks the box out of it's hands. It turns around,
grabs the hockey stick and beats the crap out of the guy with it, throws the stick down, picks up the box and walks away.
Just looking at these prototypes, it somehow reminds me of Terminator's movies. For sure the primary purpose of these robots is military use on battle fields. Can you imagine. For example, in the future would be tyrannic governments who would use such machines to exterminate rebels. And these robots equipped with infrared and thermal scanners would search through forests and other remote areas to find and kill all hiding people.
Pabloso100 there's always the off switch ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Pabloso100 Exactly!
***** most robots are waterproof no point
Isnt it beautiful? Just imagine someone begging for their life, pleading with a robot but in the end they die. Robots dont process emotion. They will be the perfect warriors
imagine? welcome in our real world.
The “big dog” robot looks like a creepy four legged spider and sounds like a horsefly in a jar.
Yo that junk not playing no games bro any type of turrets to this thing that junk would not be fair.
If it was faster and with weapons we would be cooked
I FINALLY got to HEAR what the walking 4 legged robots sounded like. Always wondered where all that power was coming from because batteries wouldn't suffice for the movements witnessed and there were no bulky motors. Videos just show it moving but with no sounds and that masked what power methods it was using. They looked hydraulic or electro-hydraulic...and surprise surprise. Now I get it...
Chris Zabriskie´s underground music so perfect in harmony......
Yaaaah ! The age of the TERMINATOR IS NEAR ! This should rap things up!
This is all the more reason why I want a 50 caliber rifle with armor piercing rounds.
Oh this is awesome i dont care if we are screwed. I love robots
I've seen "Big Dog" before and I must say it gives me the creeps. Then I heard the thing....and saw it run....oh hell nah....
You do have to give props for how stable it keeps itself.
I'm gonna need a robot to defend myself from a killer robot
and if your defender robot ships up or lose?
You would need PETMAN or Atlas because they are intimidating guys. Otherwise Spot and BigDog aren’t so smart and strong.
wow amazing what that jumping vehicle did
I have seen your work many years ago on TV find it quite outstanding ,especially the robots correcting themselves Boston Dynamics are the truly inspirational pioneers of the future !!!!!

Robots cannot take over the world if the system blows everything up first
Substations will most likely blow up when the dead shorts in transmission lines happen which would turn off all supplies
and then it ran out of battery and had to be charged for 15hrs.
Big dog runs off a 2 stroke gas engine along with a few others. Also graphene and dual carbon battery technology far surpasses lithium technology and is the most abundant elements in the universe.
@@Ole_CornPop yeah whatever bigboy. ROFL
15hrs?? WTF? Now cars charging for 20 mins for a trip of 200 miles. What kind of battery you think these robots have so they have to charge 15 hrs?

Just a matter of time before the TERMINATOR is built and fully functional!
Boston Dynamics won me over when I first saw Atlas . They continue to outdo themselves. They are my favorite & top pick. Incredible !
The way the Wild Cat revs to life is horrifying.
Seeing it stand up is frightening
Is it just me or does feel an almost primal instinctual fear of these beyond hollywood tropes like skynet and terminator like studies that generations of chickens can be raised in controlled environment if you introduce the image of a hawk they just automatically freak out even though they are generations removed from chickens that have ever even seen one.
I want to make 1 too for cooking and cleaning 😁✌️
Ok, ive seen it all now. This robot can throw cement blocks. At you!
Gay picture.
Fuck aye, we might have to wear brick poor suits as well as hard hat's these days .
And to think that these ingenious ideas will be obviously used in Military operations! how about attaching one of those cool legs to a human veteran so he/she can walk again?
naw, fuk em LOL
Imagina isso correndo atrás de vc no meio da rua, incansavelmente!! 🖐

Given they can cope with very uneven terrain, would be good at rescuing earthquake victims with the right sort of detectors.

Liam McKernan Just swim across a river. That thing can't swim.
u should not be able to run much if he was a weapon im pretty sure machine acuraccy would be superior to human he would be able to shoot u as well as do movment prediction and bullet trajectory time and stuff like even if u are in a moving car the robot would be able to calculate the time the bullet would go and shoot ahead. if they are programmed to shoot to kill u probally would have only time till the robot process move the weapon aim and shoot, if he miss one time probally will hit the next shoot so u dead, if they code the robot to shoot but not kill they will shoot legs or the enough bullets to make u go down. u will have 10 seconds at the worst scenario process time + moving mechanic parts

You are witnessing the creation of the downfall of man
mason millo Exactly my thoughts. What about the automation we aren’t seeing for the private sector. The jobs about to be eliminated are going to be huge. No jobs, no motivation....they think there is pay inequality now? You are going to have a handful of tech gurus that own the wealth and the jobs. I used to be excited about technology....not anymore.
10/31/19, Next phase: bots replicate themselves.
The terminator movie was a warning! ⚠
Stefan Urban very very slippery slope. At some point if we keep having that attitude, then we will be the ones negating a very large chunk of our future. What sucks worse? Sucky jobs or no jobs? I hear liberals talk about a living wage in the future due to tech eliminating jobs....who will be the ones deciding what your living wage is? What exactly would that be based on? I see a very dystopian future ahead.
