So very clever! You did most of it with stuff from around the house. Awesome. Now, I'm gonna try to make a lure myself. How fun to catch a fish on a lure you made yourself. Thanks for sharing.
LOL, I guess no one here has ever taken a hammer to a coin?!? LOL I have made these and more with a round/flat head ball peen hammer. You can shape it to your liking and get some nice hammered finish on the lure if you want it. If shiny, simply polish to desired sheen. Good vid taking the time to show everyone.
Four years too late I suppose, but I used flattened souvenir pennies and quarters from my kids Disneyland trip (do we REALLY need to keep every last one of them? I think not…). Best fifty cents I’ve ever spent…
Why all that (train, etc) just to use a penny? *Why not just a piece of metal, already the thickness you require?* Hardware stores are filled with such things. Hell, for that matter, why not just use a regular, unflattened, penny (bent or unbent), as fishermen have done for eons?
1D10CRACY .. And I'm not saying you can't. Just wondering why you chose all that instead of a more straightforward approach. I have several penny lures. I selected to keep them the same size, just bent concave to add action. If I wanted something larger, a penny (weaker as it thins) wouldn't be my first choice. There are just so many other options, including other coins.
You'd end up with adhesive from the tape firmly pressed into the penny and would still need to search since no tape could withstand the weight & movement of a train.

I wasn't going to watch this because I pretty much know how to make a penny lure but I'm glad I did. I learned a lot. Excellent lure video.

That trick with the spoons was exactly what I was looking for that makes quick work for making the shape
Great idea to use the train to flatten the pennies!
Lydia & I would like some of our fish caught and eaten at this years Jamboree. Lets try some of your fishing lure's!
so you are saying people should trespass on railroad property to make a cheap lure
Yes!
Fishgrub spinners makes a kit for spinner making.
Oh, come on. This is a diy. Be creative. Buy a train. Or you could run over the penny with a vehicle a few hundred times.
What if I don’t have a train?
Get one 😂
hobby store here i come!
you can use a hammer or something to pound it with, or you could get a train

Dude. Tape the coins to the rail.
