Sorry for the delay with making this video everyone. It ended up taking much longer than I had originally thought, and due to many other projects I am currently working on (that I am super excited to share with you all), I had to push back the release date. I promise all future videos will be uploaded more timely. *Thanks again for all of your support!*
Great video man. Looking forward to future videos, I think you have a really clear and concise presentation and the examples and like play along areas were great. Cheers
I don’t even have a piano, but im looking forward to buy one. Your videos are AMAZING! I’m impressed, i’ve never had music lessons but having your lessons is just so helpful. I hope you get a lot more recognition! Thank you, so much!
This video goes into a depth that should be the standard, most videos like this would focus on concision rather than focusing on the why most of the time, like for instance that fact about the tuning system and why some notes don't have flats, and I greatly appreciate the depth you go to in explaining this.
Thank you for making this video. I really needed this. I've been struggling to read music sheets and the examples are helping are helping me solidify them.
Great . Thank you so much. Fantastic teching, easy simple and fun. I'm trying for many months to understand the music theory, navigated so many sites and videos untile finding yours. I begin to understand and to love it. I'm an old retired man who decided to learn playing violine.. not too late, isn't it?!❤
Thanks! That's so great to hear. It is never too late to learn to play music. With enough practice, anyone can learn. I wish you the best of luck on your music journey!
Hi Michael, I just wanted to drop you a quick message to say thank you for being such an awesome music teacher! Your efforts have made a real difference, and I'm really grateful for all your help. I've been practicing my sheet music daily, and thanks to you, I'm starting to understand it so much better. I was wondering if you could help me out with a few more things - like major and minor chords, chord progression, circle of fifths, cadence patterns, harmonic minor chords, scales, and inversions. I know that's a lot, but I'm really keen to learn more! Also, if you've written any manuals or books, I'd love to buy them - your teaching style is just amazing. Thanks again for everything, and I hope to hear back from you soon!.
Thanks! It really means a lot to hear stuff like this! I am currently working on many of the topics you mentioned, and I'll be sure to cover all of them! I don't have any books yet. but it's definitely a goal of mine to get some out there! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
Note: not all the black keys on a piano are Accidentals. Only in the keys of C major and A natural minor are all the black keys accidental. “Accidentals can be sharp, flat, or natural notes depending on the context of the key.”
Hey thanks for pointing this out. When talking about music notes in terms of scales or keys then you are correct; Accidentals refer to notes that are "outside" of the key. In terms of the layout of the piano and other keyboard instruments however, the black keys are referred to as accidentals due to the names of those notes having the word sharp or flat in them.
I don't know if I'll finish watching this video, but I stopped at 1:15 to make this comment. Please lose the large text at the beginning. Either speak or write, but don't do both. For me, it is very annoying and detracts from whatever gems you might be handing out.
