ALQUEZAR
Alquézar is a historic village in the province of Huesca, within the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It lies in the Somontano region, approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Huesca.
One of the main attractions of Alquézar is its beautifully preserved medieval architecture.
The village is crowned by the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, a former 11th-century fortress.
This structure is an excellent example of Romanesque architecture, and its fortified walls, towers, and cloister provide a glimpse into its defensive past. The church's interior houses significant religious artworks and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
