If you’re like me - you probably found this video while trying to determine if this le creuset rice pot is actually worth buying … and take it from me - it is AMAZING. I have never had any difficulty cooking rice in a normal pot - but this looked cute plus presented the promise of no more starchy splatters all over my stove top. It works amazingly. It can take 2cups of uncooked basmati rice at maximum. So ideal for every day use - not going to work if you are looking to cook large batches of rice at a time.
I just ordered this one in Flame (the same color used in this video), and I CANNOT WAIT to run my hands across that little beauty! Annnnd of course make a nice batch of fluffy rice.
Can you sautee your aromatics (garlic & onion) prior to putting in the rice? That's how we cook rice in Brazil, and I was wondering if this pot would be good for that or if it's just for asian style rice cooking.
Hi! We can definitely give you some tips to help with this. First, try lowering the heat, heating the pan slowly, and allowing it to heat up a little longer - you'll typically only need medium or medium/low heat when cooking with cast iron. Make sure you're using enough oil/ butter to cover the pan, and heat until the oil is shimmering before adding food. It also helps to pat meats and vegetables dry before placing them in the pan, and take food out of the refrigerator 5 minutes before cooking so it can come up closer to room temperature. Finally, be patient! Allow the food to develop a good sear and release naturally before flipping it. You should be able to see the edges start to slightly lift off the pan on their own before you try to move it. Please visit our website for more info: www.lecreuset.com/blog/how-to-cook-with-enameled-cast-iron.html and www.lecreuset.com/blog/cooking-class-indoor-grilling.html. Thanks!
This Le Creuset is extremely cute, and certainly top notch quality. But come on : no one needs a $100.- pot just to cook rice. The best steamed basmati rice I have ever eaten was cooked by an Indian man who was our door keeper in Kuwait. He only had an old cheap aluminium casserole (that didn't even close well), and his rice was to die for. It's a sweet memory to me because he was the one who taught me how to do, and since then I never spoiled one rice batch using his method. A few years later, an Iranian woman showed me her way, with butter that created an amazing crust at the bottom of the casserole. There again, no fancy casserole that costs an arm and a leg involved, lol. But geeeeez... it's cute !!
Le Creuset you already have a great pot for rice. I don't recall the size of name but I could walk right to mine. It's more shallow and a little wider but that thing makes rice like Japan. I do just what he recommended cook to package directions, turn off, coast, and done👌 Your iron makes better rice then Asian rice maker machines it's crazy. Love your products glad to see quality still exist in a thow away society.
Looks like a great pot ! I'm going to buy one. What would the cooking time be for a mix of Wild & Brown rice, which has a cooking time on the package of 45 minutes? At what point would I turn off the heat? Thanks!
@@buffer-overflow I didn't buy the rice cooker in the video after all. Still haven't bought one, but my friend recommends a Black & Decker, so I'll be getting one of those.
Isn't there a kind of rule of thumb of how do I calculate/divide the timings (cooking + let it stay with lid closed)? For this example I guess the bag said that it has to be cooked 20 minutes so the division is 10 + 10, but what about a brown rice that needs to be cooked for 45 minutes?
How long can i keep the rice in the pot after cooking? I’m afraid it will get rusty due to moist in the rice. How best to clean the pot after cooking rice? Thanks.
Help!!! I bought this pot but there were no instrutions in it about the proportion between water and rice for each tipe of rice. I have cooked rice twice with the proportion recomended in this video (1 : 1 1/4) and the results haven’t been good
I’m planning to order one. Berry color. But is it gonna make your rice crusty on the bottom pot ? I need to know coz it’s really expensive to order one in here
I've done 2 cups and had great results. So much faster than rice cooker, less uncertainty of results with other absorption methods...and I have a small number of people so I don't want or need to cook large batches of rice.
Hi! The 2.25 qt. Rice Pot used in this video (www.lecreuset.com/rice-pot/LS4101S.html) holds 4 cups of cooked rice. We also have a larger 3 qt. version available exclusively in outlet stores (www.lecreuset.com/outlets). The 3 qt. Rice Pot comfortably fits 5-6 cups of cooked rice/grain without getting mushy or too starchy. Thank you for reaching out!
I don’t know where you got 10 minutes to cook rice but Spanish rice takes 30 minutes, especially medium grain or long grain. No way you gonna get it done in 10 minutes.
We need some salt in our diet. It helps brain function among other things. About 5g per day is recommended. Which, if you eat unhealthy foods, will far exceed that.. but if you eat healthy, whole foods, you have to add some salt to your cooking.

Best rice cooker ever
Hi. Do you mind sharing what size you got?
So cute (both the pot and Justin Chapple 😆) as I am amazed by one pot he kept bringing out more
hands down the best analog rice cooker ever
This everyday rice pot is just fabulous. Absolutely love it and bought 2 more pots. The rice is just perfect and takes only 5-10 min to cook.
I just ordered this one in Flame (the same color used in this video), and I CANNOT WAIT to run my hands across that little beauty! Annnnd of course make a nice batch of fluffy rice.
Love mine.
I already use my le creuset of 50 yrs for rice . I love the look of the new one!

Do they make this in nectar?
any hacks for avoiding the sticking at the bottom?

Hay! We want this in Canada too eh!
Great video, Justin! Thanks for sharing your method!
love this guy ..from Food and WIne...great info..and great recommendation for this pot!

@@laurentyson I see. Just bought one. And it’s awesome.
Where has Mr. Chapple been all my life??? You are cute as a bug's ear, young man. I want to buy a rice pot.
What size of the pot in this video you used ? 20 cm or 18cm?
Just got one, gonna try your prep tomorrow, thanks

I have the same question, I hope someone answers. I see you never got an answer!
How long can i keep the rice in the pot after cooking? I’m afraid it will get rusty due to moist in the rice. How best to clean the pot after cooking rice? Thanks.
Le Creuset iron cookware is coated with enamel; it does not rust.
Can you PLEASE PLEASE do a video with brown rice using the same pot? I've tried it and cannot seem to figure out the time needed.
it is better to put the brown rice in water for hours before cooking .
You need to soak brown rice before cooking. I would say at least 3 hours. Red rice over night.
FYI, Uncle Roger said never check the instruction on the package, just use the lines~~~~~LOL🤣
just got this pot. so excited to try!

Hi Laura! We suggest following the recipe on your rice package, as proportions and cook times may vary depending on the type of rice. Thank you!
I’m planning to order one. Berry color. But is it gonna make your rice crusty on the bottom pot ? I need to know coz it’s really expensive to order one in here
Can i make soup in this and for how many as I know its fairly small?
Wonderful! Must I rinse the rice?
Hi! Yes, we typically recommend rinsing the rice before cooking it.
if you're making sushi rice, no; but for other kinds like basmati or short grain then yes.
Iam I the only one that cringed when he scraped that pot with the metal fork? 🤣
No :)
Me too!
I love rice.
Can I use my 3.5 braiser ?
Really great 🍚 thank you
Mine always has water at the bottom… and I used 1:1 ratio. So frustrating. My AC saucepan is easier
How much?
Price
The pot is nice, but is to small to cook rice for a big family, you should make a pot big enough for at least 4 to 5 cups of rice, then I will buy it.
Someone help me out... so this $220 Rice Pot only cooks 1cup of rice???
I've done 2 cups and had great results. So much faster than rice cooker, less uncertainty of results with other absorption methods...and I have a small number of people so I don't want or need to cook large batches of rice.
On their website it says it Cooks 4 cups of rice. Hmmmm?😳
Stephanie it clearly says on their website that this pot can hold 4 cups of cooked rice which is equivalent to 2 cups of uncooked rice.
better buy a rice cooker 😅
well we should consume less carbs for better health
How many cups max can this fit?

Did anyone else cringe hearing his fork scrape the pot at the end 😬 😳

Jasmine rice - 10 minutes. It's a gem of a pot. No overflow. Easy to clean. Much loved ❤
Pleas use the metric system so the rest of the world know understand!
What are you on about? He’s just using ratios.
you don't need salt in your rice , salt is bad for your health and rice does not require seasoning
We need some salt in our diet. It helps brain function among other things. About 5g per day is recommended.

try not to be so preachy. Do what's good for you and let other do the same.
Actually himalayan pink salt is really good for your body!
