it's so surprising I went to Istanbul back in 2016 and Cats don't even runaway from people. You know... in my country and stray cats runaway from people all the time. maybe almost over 90% of them.... people and animals harmonized and live there and it was kinda new and special for me.

Thankfully, we had a rather large garden so we still saw them wandering the neighborhood while claiming our garden as their territories. So in short, these animals aren't strictly domesticated. They don't need humans to look after them.
