    @9:50 - Yes, you can use an iPhone as a camera. However, you need to use the Blackmagic camera app, not the native iPhone camera app, and you need to adjust the software so you don't see all the camera settings on the feed.

    This was an amazing presentation! You demonstrated what I needed to know that has made me pull the cord on this purchase. Originally I didn't want it because it wasn't 4k. After Tom's explanation and your demonstration, it will smooth out my work flow. Rode should have paid you for this!!!

    Thank you very much for your videos. I’ve just discovered your channel and I am learning and enjoying it a lot.
    I’ve thinking of the poor quality of your phone image through the Rodecaster… (11:10 or so…); don’t you think that the bandwidth of the lighting could be one of the the reasons?
    I really like the way you speak in your videos. Good luck 🎉!

    Thank you, Cat. Most of my questions were answered in this video. Currently, I’m using the Atem Mini Pro ISO combined with the Zoom F6 for the audio feed. Although the F6 supports 32-bit float recording, it lacks audio processing tools. I had to align the recorded audio from the Atem in DaVinci with the F6 audio and handle the post-audio processing. Therefore, I’m considering the RCV as a potential all-in-one solution. But I’m also thinking of just adding the Rodecaster Pro 2 to my setup to utilize the Wireless GO. 😵‍💫

    Cat, unfortunately my question was not answered on this excellent video. I have a currently recorded/edited netcast that I upload to several platforms, Mon-Fri. I want to start going live with it. I have several images and videos that are shown along the netcast (it usually lasts 24 to 30 minutes). Would I be able to click on the RCV to show the (prepared in advance) sequence of images and/or short videos as I present the news? How could I achieve that? My idea would be clicking on a given image and after it is shown, the next one is up to be shown when I click on the RCV again. Is that a doable process? Once again, thank you very much. I look forward to your feedback, this time... All the best, Claudio Lessa - in Winter Park, FL

    Hi Cat, when you answered the question about audio gateing you described the high pass filter, you did however have the gate turned on in your drop down.

    • @Kauffeebaby
      @Kauffeebaby 2 місяці тому

      Gating, or as it is usually called Noise Gating is a feature that if the mic level is below a threshold, the channel basically gets muted (volume turned all the way down). This can be useful if you have s low level background noise like traffic or air conditioning. Zoom by default puts a noise gate on inputs, and noise gates need some tuning to make sure they don’t cut off the beginning of words (threshold is too high) or are slow to come back on after being opened and hearing that noise each time before the gated closes.

    Re zoom. I run a hybrid meeting. I find the ATEM & Osee GoStream have inadequate audio. Zoom meeting room. Overhead projector with speakers. Two cameras. Presenter closeup and a meeting wide view. Presenter laptop plugs in to a video port. Presenter may have a video on computer. Sound from presenter video needs to go to zoom and also overhead video speakers as well as external zoom participants voice on overhead projection speakers. With traditional switchers, I need some way of inserting video from zoom to overhead HDMI feed (which has speakers). But I would need a mixer to get sound from presenter feed and add it to overhead projector. I think Rodecaster would have audio capabilities to solve this problem

    Thank you Cat, as usual, your videos are both fun and informative.🎉🎉🎉.
    I would like to take up one issue with you, because this issue is the very reason I want my boss to buy an RCV for our business.
    You indicated that you were not a fan of using the RCV to bring in virtual guests. I totally respect your view, but I wish to share my idea.
    I was planning on plugging a lap top into the RCV via HDMI. The virtual guests then send an audio/video signal, via their machine onto the laptop. The guest could send their signal via YT premium or Ecamm etc. The laptop is now working as a camera within my RCV. I thought that this would work just fine.
    So I am interested in why you are not a fan of using the RCV in this way. Is it Image Quality? Audio video latency?
    Many thanks.

    • @CatMulvihill
      @CatMulvihill  2 місяці тому

      You definitely can invite a guest on a secondary laptop, and that’s likely how I would approach it for a single guest. I think it starts to get complicated when people are planning panels, etc., and want to bring in multiple guests.

    I wish you went into more detail...if this box isn't for bringing in remote video guests from Zoom to use as video/camera sources, what other setups do you suggest? I cannot find ANY help in here on how to do that properly...for our video podcast, with three hosts all over the country, how do we get all three video feeds into something like this to make scenes around and be able to produce the show on the fly instead of hours of editing after?

      I recommend Ecamm Live if you have a Mac. You can bring in up to 8 guests with their Ecamm for Zoom integration. It requires the Pro plan, so it's an investment but that's the way I would go.
      There is a 14 trial if you want to test it out: www.ecamm.com/mac/ecammlive/?fp_ref=catmulvihill (this is my referral link)
      In May I did a series about Ecamm and the Zoom integration if you want to learn more: ua-cam.com/play/PLvHSfPVVKOLFtsjzmfb-CAl9qBhM2hcpe.html&si=cArc3U3FDyDtFhDh

    • @CatMulvihill
      @CatMulvihill  Місяць тому

      It really depends on what you are using it for. If you have a lot of scenes, the RØDECaster Video may feel limiting compared to OBS. If you have a handful of scenes, overlays and media, then it could be a nice option.

    Thanks for those tips on how to mute a mic in Rode Central. I am not optimistic in the question but could you link that button in Rode Central via a StreamDeck button?? I figure that is a "stupid" question but you never know. LOL!! And I love how you make a point of not pushing the shinny new objects on everyone! Cat, this video is really great! Thank you for the fantastic walk-through. I used the RodecasterVideo at a live 2.5-hour emergency training presentation in a Southern California emergency operations center on Thursday, and got surprised about the limitation on the number of active audio sources (as I tried to figure out audio as I was setting up). I'm not sure how user-friendly the one-knob, 9-active-sources-at-a-time audio control section is though. Seems to require a pretty thorough adding and deletion of audio sources for each use. Gotta figure out if I'm going to keep the RodecasterVideo.
