Oh, this is a modern adaptation of the novel _Thérèse Raquin._ I didn't realize until the boat drowning scene and I'm thinking "Oh this is like the Oscar Isaac and Elizabeth Olson period piece where the painter and the unhappy wife kill the sickly husband in the same way." Then I looked it up and yeah, 'In Secret' or 'Thérèse' 2013 is ALSO an adaptation of the novel. In Secret ended with it being a tragic love story where the couple couldn't get over their guilt of killing the sickly husband, so they both planned a murder/suicide but ended up mutually downing a bottle of knowingly poisoned wine and dying in each other's arms as the paralyzed mother in law watches on. This has a much more Girl Power ending with all of them being manipulated by the blue-collar man from the getgo.
