Today we visited the places you mention here, Point D’esney, Blue Bay and the market The boat trip and snorkeling further out were really great Excellent tips , thank you so much 👍🏼
@@LucyLeheilleix Yes, I have just re-visited this disaster on Wikipedia and they have an amazing satellite image of this area taken just 3 weeks following the oil spill. The pristine, pale turquoise water of Pointe d'Esny and Blue Bay can be seen clearly. There is also a lot written about the clean up efforts by local and international teams.I will watch your video again.
In 2001 the beaches in Mauritius were packed with exotic fish everywhere but times just change as the economy grows on an island. Oh well at least I was there to witness what it was like before hand and will never forget it. It was like I was on different planet.
Thanks Dan for this comment. It is sad how the ocean is suffering. My feeling is this marine park should have a limited amount of boats to let the corals and fish breathe a bit…. Anyway, indeed like you say….a different planet.
@@LucyLeheilleix I think its best if you express your environmental concern through your videos just a little bit more to spread the news around society. Either that or having to do it the tedious way withing politics. I think you are the top spot when it comes content creation on this island. I hope to see many more of your videos. 🏝🏝🏝 Btw I've noticed you have a more pronounced athletic build lately. Shoulders are looking solid as heck. The outdoors island life must be marvelous. Haha
Thank you so much for your informative videos! I just watched a few dozens. I will be visiting my friend in about a month. Do you have any recommendations on more off the beaten path places/less touristy than in your video? I didn't see any videos about restaurants. Is there any restaurants there that serve local cuisine you would recommend?
Lucy - are there lockers that a person can rent at Blue Bay Marine Park, to store belongings during the day? I’m booked to stay at the Preskil resort, but want to do a day trip to Blue Bay but will want to lock up my belongings while I’m in the water snorkeling.
I pray you and your family are safe from cyclone Freddy. To the beautiful Mauritian people l pray everyone is safe and the damage is minimal. Stay safe
Hello Lucy, I have question about the weather in April, because I would like to come to Mauritius on April and how looks the weather on this time, thanks for your answer. Yours video are amazing 🤩 your
Hi Lucy, our organization is thinking of working in Mauritius. Is there a need for coral restoration there? Thank you for pointing out the issues with parrot fish🙏thank you Jolyon from Counting Coral.
Hey Lucy, your videos are so helpful, giving a wonderful overview! How is the situation with dog there? Are there stray dogs along the beaches or elsewhere? If I move there I move with my male lab mix. He loves the sea and beach. So just checking dog fight potential, always worried....
Hello. Over 300,000 street dogs here, so a massive problem. If you walk your dog on the beach, bring a long stick in case you have to fend off other dogs. I rarely have a problem (I have 3 dogs) 👍🏻
ok thank you! Sounds like it is in many other countries I have been. 3 dogs are probably easier as they dominate as a pack. With one I am the other one in my pack LOL. So time to adopt 1 or 2 more :-) @@LucyLeheilleix
2 things. 1st, coral bleaching is a natural occurrence with healthy corrals. 2nd, corrals all over the world are actually getting healthier. For example, the great corral reef of Australia is the healthiest it has ever been since we started to keep recordings. Mauritius is no different. It has a very healthy corral reef. What damages it is the 2 km long nets used by fishing boats, who break it regularly.
Coral reefs get endangered because of parrotfish fishing. They are coral gardeners absolutely needful for the good health of the corals and so the entire ecosystem. Thanks🙏
Another fantastic video and info. Lucy.

Another great video Lucy
Thanks Anton. I hope you’re well!! Thanks for your continued support.
Great advice Lucy and it is wonderful how the water and sand has rejuvenated since the Wakashio oil spill.
Thanks Kerry. Pointe D'Esny definitely seems to have dodged a bullet with regards to pollution caused by the wakashio.

Thanks Dan. I have to be very careful what I say..... Shoulders are as a result of constant wing foiling. Island life is hard :)
As always great video lucy thank you for showing us delicious Mauritius 🇲🇺 😘☘️

Hi, Lucy! Thanks for all the great content. Question - Hows is the surf this time of year in Mauritius?
Hello Shawn. Winter is the surf time, generally though I wouldn’t come to Mauritius to surf….
Next month, hopefully we visit Mauritius ☺️
A great time to come. I hope you have a good trip.

Hey! I love your tips about Mauritius 😄What camera are you using for underwater videos? It looks stunning!
Hi Emilia. I use a GoPro mostly 😀
Does Mauritius mandate coral safe sunscreen these days? I remember tamarin bay back in like 96' and the coral was just dead.....even back then
Hi Stuart. Coral safe sunscreen isn’t mandated, but I certainly use it. 👍🏻
Hi is the boat trip available walk in onsite or you have to book? I have 4 hrs layover in airport and I wanna go outside at blue bay
I don’t think that’s enough time. Sorry.
Do they give you snorkling equipment or you have to bring your own?
I think bring your own
Definitely bring your own.
Hi lucy, What website do you recomend to book tours and other activities on the island
Hello. Mari deal is good, but I think it’s for residents. Otherwise activities will have their own websites 👍🏻
Where abouts are the dog beaches?
There are dogs everywhere. You can’t miss them.

Thanks so much Popa 😄

Parrotfish are a sustainable and delicious source of food. They are not endangered.
The fishing practices used however are unsustainable.

@@robertstephane8630 absolutely right. We must not eat them. They must be protected for the sake of our reefs!
