    Great advice Lucy and it is wonderful how the water and sand has rejuvenated since the Wakashio oil spill.

      @@LucyLeheilleix Yes, I have just re-visited this disaster on Wikipedia and they have an amazing satellite image of this area taken just 3 weeks following the oil spill. The pristine, pale turquoise water of Pointe d'Esny and Blue Bay can be seen clearly. There is also a lot written about the clean up efforts by local and international teams.I will watch your video again.

    In 2001 the beaches in Mauritius were packed with exotic fish everywhere but times just change as the economy grows on an island. Oh well at least I was there to witness what it was like before hand and will never forget it. It was like I was on different planet.

    • @LucyLeheilleix
      @LucyLeheilleix  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Dan for this comment. It is sad how the ocean is suffering. My feeling is this marine park should have a limited amount of boats to let the corals and fish breathe a bit…. Anyway, indeed like you say….a different planet.

      @@LucyLeheilleix I think its best if you express your environmental concern through your videos just a little bit more to spread the news around society. Either that or having to do it the tedious way withing politics.
      I think you are the top spot when it comes content creation on this island. I hope to see many more of your videos.

    Thank you so much for your informative videos! I just watched a few dozens. I will be visiting my friend in about a month. Do you have any recommendations on more off the beaten path places/less touristy than in your video? I didn't see any videos about restaurants. Is there any restaurants there that serve local cuisine you would recommend?

    Lucy - are there lockers that a person can rent at Blue Bay Marine Park, to store belongings during the day? I’m booked to stay at the Preskil resort, but want to do a day trip to Blue Bay but will want to lock up my belongings while I’m in the water snorkeling.

    Hey Lucy, your videos are so helpful, giving a wonderful overview! How is the situation with dog there? Are there stray dogs along the beaches or elsewhere? If I move there I move with my male lab mix. He loves the sea and beach. So just checking dog fight potential, always worried....

    • @LucyLeheilleix
      @LucyLeheilleix  11 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Over 300,000 street dogs here, so a massive problem. If you walk your dog on the beach, bring a long stick in case you have to fend off other dogs. I rarely have a problem (I have 3 dogs) 👍🏻

    • @missionbevolution
      @missionbevolution 11 місяців тому +1

      ok thank you! Sounds like it is in many other countries I have been. 3 dogs are probably easier as they dominate as a pack. With one I am the other one in my pack LOL. So time to adopt 1 or 2 more :-)

    2 things. 1st, coral bleaching is a natural occurrence with healthy corrals. 2nd, corrals all over the world are actually getting healthier. For example, the great corral reef of Australia is the healthiest it has ever been since we started to keep recordings. Mauritius is no different. It has a very healthy corral reef. What damages it is the 2 km long nets used by fishing boats, who break it regularly.
