Lost our Carin back in august of 2022. Every day I wake up and wish I could have one more day, one more hour…. I’m 25 now and losing Rocky shook me to my core and was a huge lesson on what life is REALLY all about. Cherish your pets and your family. ❤
I had a cairn terrier, he lived for 20 years! But, I was so sad when he died. Cairn terriers, so smart, they learn all dog training instantly, my cairn terrier, he understood everything I told him... Amazing, how much human speech they comprehend...
20 years. Wow. Congratulations. Our Westie died with only 12 years by liver cancer. We loved her so so much and we're missing her every day 😪❤ Now we will get a cairn and hope it will be more healthy for a long long time 😊 good luck to all dogs and Greetings from germany Dany
I can't imagine my life without mine, she makes me laugh every day and I always tell her how lucky I am to have her in my life. A great companion who's never afraid to let you know what's on their mind.
My 3rd Cairn is behind me now guarding my back. She'll be 10 in Nov.. She's been my nursemaid, therapy dog, and almost constant companion since I was involved in a fairly serious accident almost 10 years ago. I had to put my 2nd Cairn down while being reassembled in my hospital bed. We drove about 350 miles to meet Gabby and moved her in with two full grown German Shepherds, she ruled them after a day or two. Cairns are definitely large dogs in small dog bodies and they can be headstrong but equally loyal and loving. She learned to walk between my crutches and I used to take her outside hung in my courier bag wrapped over my neck. She still leads me around, stopping periodically and looking back to be sure I'm following. I don't think she's ever met a stranger? She is a very weather resistant dog who prefers cooler weather and water rolls over her back like she was kin to a duck. We lost our GSD's to cancer awhile back and I do miss having an "above the knee" dog but Gabby is personable to the Nth degree! My wife fell and cracked her kneecap and now Gabby is nursing her back to health. It's hard for me to imagine life without a Cairn Terrier.
We have 2 cairn terriers now and they are the best dogs. Tough, loyal, funny and caring. Our 9 yr old female looks exactly like Toto and is always by my wife’s side everywhere, never needs a lead. We lost our 3rd cairn Boswell last year to cancer and we were devastated.
20 years! Outstanding. How lucky you were to have your cairn for so long. I have had cairns practically all my life. Our family cairn lived to be 19. I am 61 and we have our 8th Cairn, Fergus. They are such a special breed.
You are absolutely correct :) Our little one intefix, also learns and memorize tricks and orders SO easily. He knows about 10 tricks and he still learns more even though he is eight. He is adorable, respectful and lovable
Recently lost my 15-year-old Cairn too. I'm thankful for every moment I got to spend with him and regretful for every one I chose to spend elsewhere. :(
We also lost our cairn Wheaten after almost 17 years . He left such a whole in our lives . It has been almost30 years since his passing. We still miss him every day. He was a real member of our family what a great family member
We rescued-adopted a black Cairn Terrier 6 months ago. She was used as a breeder and she had many litters according to our Vet. Elly is the sweetest thing and we just love having her to spoil....No More Crate for her!
I lost my Mingus August 7th and getting Téo August 19th! Can’t be without a Cairn! I’m just amazed that they aren’t more sought after! Such great temperaments.
Our dog was 13 when he contracted an untreatable kidney disease. Buddy was our constant source of joy and looked a lot like the one in this video. We miss him.
My Lulu and Peanut are stubborn too but so much fun They are my buddies and so sensitive and smart. Can't imagine how quiet and lonely we would be without them. They wait every day for my husband (Daddy) to get home, then bam! Pandemonium They crowd you out of bedand rule the roost but get one,you won't be sorry 😃
I got my cairn back in August, im not going to lie they require alot if attention and exercise, if not they will be all over the house, taking clothes chewing cables, but now she’s amazing love her best dog i ever own
Perfect dog for rambunctious kids! I grew up with a Carin ... always up for play ... she'd play soccer with us for hours ... strong willed ... needs training.
Sweetest dogs ever. Big dog syndrome. They are clowns and they are fierce hunters if wanted. I’ve had 6 of them. They were all rescues and up in age. Some had health issues but we still loved them like they were our children. Now we have a 71/2 year old Cairn from a rescue and we have a very sweet Westie girl. Her we got as a pup. They are awesome companions.
My wife is from England, and we were in Paignton a few yrs back. Met some people who had a cairn. Of course we stopped to talk ,because yes we r parents to a cairn also. They r absolutely the best breed.
I got my Cairn terrier when she was 8, she's now 14 and her energy is still there!! At first she bit me all the time and believe me they have big teeth and jaws. I think she must have been mistreated before I adopted her. She brightens my day and can be found where ever I am. I love her to bits!!
we lost ours recently, her name was piper, was mix with yorkshire i think too, but none the less was a great protector, gentle to my kids and when we went hunting the quails, rabbits and yes badgers didnt know what hit them. who said you cant make a cairn terrier into a hunter, she was great! I miss my hunting buddy, we all miss her, went too soon and all of a sudden.
We had Toby, a Cairn terrier when I was a youngster, and remember he loved to,pick up big cairn stones. Sometimes his back legs would lift up as stone was so heavy!! 😅
I have a Cairn. I originally named him sterling because if his silver fur but as soon as I realized he had the spirit of a warrior and his bark is bigger than his bite, I knighted him Sir Edward Sterling. He is a little dog with a big spirit , a strong personality and all my other animals have to get his permission to pass through the living room. He's my little best pal. I 💘 him so much.
awww she's lovely, my parents cairn terrier Max, loves light reflections and gets so excited and stares at them for hours haha, if they move around he moves with them. He's so full of love and fun
My cairn is gonna be 10 this year. She loves walks. We can’t even say WALK or else she’s at the door waiting. She’s super quiet since I trained her not to bark. She’s so laid back. Ppl that doggy sit her forget that she’s in the home.
we have cairn crossed with something, her first vet decided she was crossed with a Chihuahua, but she's twice the size of Darcy! She's very protective & has so much love! Would definitely suggest a cairn as a family pet, & she has no health issues. A great choice for a pet!
We have a Cairn called Haggis he's stubborn, fiesty, likes to have the last say but I would be list without him. After a long challenging day I come home he greets me with my slipper he's cute
I had a Wheaton Cairn just like this one in the video, a spittin image. They could almost be the same dog. She lived 14 1/2 years and I miss her every day.
People get so close to their Carin Terrier that when they pass on they don’t want to replace them with another Carin Terrier. I meet so many former Carin Terrier owners who get very emotional when they see my little Brindle Carin Terrier. I’d take mine to work if they let me!!
My cairn passed away in Dec. 2018 - he was my first dog and first Cairn. He was my heart, I loved him so much. I have just now started to search for another Cairn.
My grandparents have had Cairn Terriers since the 80s. Grew up with one of them, Myrra. Then they got a Border Terrier, and since grandma passed and pa lives in a nursey home, she is more or less mine now. Borders are more tough. But like Cairns, they are terriers. And I really like terrier dogs.
I have two cairns a boy and a girl they ignore you if you don't give then enough attention. They have loads of energy and like all dogs are obsessed with food lol. Stubborn is a very good description some cairns are confrontational with other digs but others are not.
I would love to have this breed 1 day! We have Bouviers now & they are senior citizens. A smaller breed will be better for me, since I am now a senior citizen too!
I've got a Jack russell terrier x Cairn terrier (aka Jacairn) he's really smart and loyal unless he goes into hunting mode, then he ignores everything and everyone except whatever trail he's picked up haha :')
I've had a male westie and male cairn - absolutely my favorite breeds (short, stout, sweet, confident, and busy) and neither was mean, but my first choice now would be the cairn - less temperamental compared to my westie and more laid back.
When they do that they are trying to tell you something. My Cairn has done this since he was a puppy and he will be 14yrs old this year. He usually wants to let me know he wants to go out. If I am not paying attention he will also jump on my leg so I will make eye contact or start to cry so I will pay attention. It always works. They are very smart animals.
Well, Toto certainly drives the plot of "Wizard of Oz" -- think how much stuff _wouldn't_ have happened if Toto hadn't: (1) gotten into Ms. Gulch's garden, (2) jumped out of the basket, (3) taken the hot dog from Prof. Marvel, (4) barked at the Scarecrow, (5) got chased by the Lion, (6) escaped from the Witch's castle, (7) led the friends back to the castle, (8) pulled aside the curtain on the Wizard, and, in one of the most dramatic scenes of the movie, (9) jumps out of the balloon basket as it's about to take off. Need some excitement in your life? Get a cairn.
I’m thinking a Cairn might be my next dog however I need a dog that doesn’t suffer form separation anxiety as I would need to leave on its own sometimes for up to 3hrs….i don’t know whether separation anxiety is dependent on breed or a learned behaviour
i’ve been dog-sitting a rescue cairn every summer for three years now when the family goes on holiday, and he’s the most stubborn little ass in the world. he misses his people which doesn’t help, but can also become aggressive for often seemingly nothing. the not walking unless in a direction he chooses has lead him to become overheated many times, and i have to drag him back home as he bites whenever i touch him and he doesn’t like/expect it so i cant carry him. i have to run out the house as to not let him escape, and half the time he doesn’t let me put his harness on him anyway. starting to think it’s not worth the money hah. anyway, i am just researching what others say about the breed and it’s relatively difficult to find anybody being honest about a cairn terrier’s temperament. i know that i’d never take one on personally. i applaud those who can handle a cairn. People often say that large dogs are more challenging, but my late husky was a hoot compared to this
Well sound like it's the training of the dog that has gone wrong? my cairn also have the temperament of terrier, but he's not aggressive and I would not let him be aggressive. The only annoying thing about him is the "explore gene". He has run away a couple of times, but always ended up finding his way home.
Westies came FROM the Cairn "tree"..Cairns are black, gray, brown, etc..way back when (they) just bred out all the color from Cairns and made Westies.. soooo a Westie is quite literally a white cairn..
I agree with Cairn terrier owners, they are stubborn. But they don't have anything on Scottish terriers. I am saying this with respect, don't anyone get mad.
I have had Cairns all of my life. Rose and Fergus are the current two who are sharing our life. Can’t live without them.
Lost our Carin back in august of 2022. Every day I wake up and wish I could have one more day, one more hour….
I’m 25 now and losing Rocky shook me to my core and was a huge lesson on what life is REALLY all about. Cherish your pets and your family. ❤
I had a Carin terrier who passed away 6 years ago also named rocky
Dogs are only on loan from god as they are little angels
one time my cairn terrier and I got in the middle of a tornado and got sent to a magical place called oz and we met a scarcrow a metal man and a tiger
😂😂😂😂
That’s a lion, not a tiger.
😉🙃🤗
Dogs are mankinds best gift
And terriers are above all dogs..especially westies
I had a cairn terrier, he lived for 20 years! But, I was so sad when he died. Cairn terriers, so smart, they learn all dog training instantly, my cairn terrier, he understood everything I told him... Amazing, how much human speech they comprehend...
WOW 20 YEARS !! i hope mine lives that long ! Do you have another one??
20 years. Wow. Congratulations. Our Westie died with only 12 years by liver cancer. We loved her so so much and we're missing her every day 😪❤ Now we will get a cairn and hope it will be more healthy for a long long time 😊 good luck to all dogs and Greetings from germany Dany
Our cairn made it to 18 and we had to put her down due to kidney failure! We have a new one who is 18 months and I hope she makes it past 20
That is so incredible Ed!!! I'm so sorry for your loss, but so happy you had so many years well spent with your dog!
Our house was never without carin terriers growing up, wonderful family dogs. My father who’s 85 still has one …Hamish, who’s the grand old age of 18.
I can't imagine my life without mine, she makes me laugh every day and I always tell her how lucky I am to have her in my life. A great companion who's never afraid to let you know what's on their mind.
My sweet Cairn Lily was 19 years and 8 months this past September when she left us. She was my best friend.
😢

I have Archie, and what a character he is!! Never met such a beautiful natured little dog, loyal loving bold and mischievous lol he's my best friend 💘
20 years! Outstanding. How lucky you were to have your cairn for so long. I have had cairns practically all my life. Our family cairn lived to be 19. I am 61 and we have our 8th Cairn, Fergus. They are such a special breed.

Lovely video. We’ve just lost our wheaten Cairn after 15 years. They give so much and so she’ll be sadly missed.
Jason Beacham omg can’t imagine what would happen if ours died I am so close to him!!!!! Rip to urs!
I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could have experienced 15 years with my pupper. He barely made it to a year when he was killed by a pack of coyotes.
I lost my Cairn Terrier at almost 16 and a half years. 4 months ago. I Still cry every day. I do have another Cairn and silkie terrier.
Cairns are the best!! They are amazing. I have been graced with 5 cairns over the years. I just lost my boy after 11 years. He was the best.
I’m sorry that happened I recently lost my dog as well he was a bulldog I hope you feel better
Carin’s are just happy dogs. Very hardy and love palling around with you.
Our dog was 13 when he contracted an untreatable kidney disease. Buddy was our constant source of joy and looked a lot like the one in this video. We miss him.
my cairn terrier is the most stubborn thing ever! Hes adorable though
That definitely describes a Cairn. They are very stubborn and will not do anything they don't want to do. Mine runs the show.
I had a Cairn called Pip for 18 years. As stubborn as the day is long but would take on the world for me.
Omg my cairns terrier Georgie is so stubborn!
Mine is also stubborn.
Darcy is a beautiful cairn! Our's is turning 10 this year... still as playful as a puppy, such an amazing breed
I had a westie. Lovely dogs. Your doggy is the same color as the sand! Now we have a Yorkshire Cairn mix. Sweet dog.
Most accurate description of a cairn I’ve heard!
I have had Cairns all my life. Cairns will be the rest of my life too !
I got my cairn back in August, im not going to lie they require alot if attention and exercise, if not they will be all over the house, taking clothes chewing cables, but now she’s amazing love her best dog i ever own

Our lovely boy just turned 6. Thank goodness he is obsessed with small Kong tennis balls...no digging!! We'd never ever trade one minute!
getting one today! so excited for this new adventure !
Cairn terriers are the most delightful dogs!
My wife is from England, and we were in Paignton a few yrs back. Met some people who had a cairn. Of course we stopped to talk ,because yes we r parents to a cairn also. They r absolutely the best breed.

Awww.. I remember wanting a cairn after seeing the one that Little Ricky had in the later seasons of I Love Lucy.
Thank you so much for this video - we've been thinking about a cairn terrier so it's so helpful
My cairn is gonna be 10 this year. She loves walks. We can’t even say WALK or else she’s at the door waiting. She’s super quiet since I trained her not to bark. She’s so laid back. Ppl that doggy sit her forget that she’s in the home.

I am on my third one. Best ever dog. Snake and rat killers, all I absolutely love love love them. Best coolest dogs ever thank god for these boys.
Because cairn is best with kids, no aggression, playfull, full of life and positivy, only positivity, its like cat but dog. Love my boy Albertas❤❤
People get so close to their Carin Terrier that when they pass on they don’t want to replace them with another Carin Terrier. I meet so many former Carin Terrier owners who get very emotional when they see my little Brindle Carin Terrier. I’d take mine to work if they let me!!

I love Caims, Westies, Scotties and German Shephards
She’s a cutie!😻
This breed is a lot of fun, quite in public places, and highly energetic💜💜💜 I love my dog 🐕 and I’d hurt a brick over him💯💯💯
What a cute puppy!
I have two cairns a boy and a girl they ignore you if you don't give then enough attention. They have loads of energy and like all dogs are obsessed with food lol. Stubborn is a very good description some cairns are confrontational with other digs but others are not.
Lost my 16 yr 4 mo old baby. He was the happiest dog ever
I've had a range of dogs and the Cairn is in my opinion the best overall. Only exception is they don't retrieve well.
You can forget that idea of retrieving lol. My previous Cairn would bury his treat in the garden and then make me dig it out for him 🙈
glad it's not just me lol
I would love to have this breed 1 day! We have Bouviers now & they are senior citizens. A smaller breed will be better for me, since I am now a senior citizen too!
My cairn terrier is wonderfull! I love him very much. Dogs are just an so wonderfull kreation
I have a boy, Jupiter who looks almost exactly like Darcy. They are incredibly dogs.
I love your video. Had 3 of these. The best dog.
I've got a Jack russell terrier x Cairn terrier (aka Jacairn) he's really smart and loyal unless he goes into hunting mode, then he ignores everything and everyone except whatever trail he's picked up haha :')
We lost our Westie but would love to have a Cairn terrier. I wish someone in This area could locate a breeder of Cairns.
It’s been a few months since my Carin Terrier passed away. I miss him everyday 😭
I have a carin terrier his name is Stanley and he is lovely 🥰
I like the coloring.
Best breed there is. Other than Westies
I've had a male westie and male cairn - absolutely my favorite breeds (short, stout, sweet, confident, and busy) and neither was mean, but my first choice now would be the cairn - less temperamental compared to my westie and more laid back.
My Cairn has a habit of staring at me.
Mine does too. It’s usually time for dinner!
Why to get a Cairn Terrier as a pet:
1) Toto from the Wizard of Oz.
End of story.
Protect you from the wicked witch!😂
Stunning Color
I’m so happy because today I’m going to get a carin terrier(:
Great decision! Endlessly funny, affectionate wee dogs. Easy going and they just want to be where you are. Mine is the best dog I’ve ever had.
Congrats, they're the BEST (My little Phoebe is 14 ! )
Congratulations 🎉. You will be so pleased.
Oooh so lovable 🥰and all of the above mentioned!
I'd love to own a cairn terrier it just worries me how people would judge me if I did.
Darcy is beautiful.
they are similar if n0t exact as Westie ' just a different shade
We have a cairn she's absalutly brilliant
Was this filmed in Barmouth Wales it looks familiar?
to cute i am getting one
How do they do alone when you're away at work? Any separation anxiety?
Go to UA-cam and visit:
Happy days for Atticus
Awwwwwwww!!!! Love it 😍
I have one hes really mean 😂

My cairn is hyper I have him sense I was 2 and I'm 10
I’m drunk
I want one..
Can somebody point me to the food this dog eats, as well as any treat I could buy. The one I have is very picky and won’t eat.
😍😍
i'll never not have a cairn
Toto!
ARE CAIRN TERRIERS FAIRLY COMPARABLE TO WEST HIGHLAND TERRIERS??
Westies came FROM the Cairn "tree"..Cairns are black, gray, brown, etc..way back when (they) just bred out all the color from Cairns and made Westies.. soooo a Westie is quite literally a white cairn..
If I jump at mine he will go and run arround
I'm from Poland🙃 my cairn terrier is a bit different because he has no interest in other animals🤔🤔
GOT ONE 69 .... HAD PUPS 74 .... THEY HAD MORE PUPS 78 ... ORIG DIED 81 ..... TOTO WIZARD of OZ !!!
love this Check my channel my puppy is a Carin terrier he is amazing! his name is chip hes 6 and half months
I agree with Cairn terrier owners, they are stubborn. But they don't have anything on Scottish terriers. I am saying this with respect, don't anyone get mad.
What do you mean, Scotties are better dogs? Why?
when I put my hand on the monitor it covers your face
