Hi everyone. In this video I share a colour along in Rita’s amazing new colouring book, Afrika.

I have never had a Rita Berman book before as I am not a fan of too much zentamgles images but you inspired me to give it a go, so I bought this book because I spent some time in Egypt and the first pages in this book are from Egypt and I can't wait to do them justice. You are amazing! Still waiting to order the book here in the US. Small Victories is available soon, so that will have to bide me. I have RB’s Winter book and can’t wait to start using that next month. I picked up a set of Kingart Gel Crayons and they are amazing for backgrounds! Quite inexpensive too with a wide variety of colors. I like them better than distressed ink.
I find gel crayons easier to use than Distress inks but I still want to practice more with the inks as the effects can be stunning. Thanks for watching! 😊

I have the full set of the KingArt gel stick crayons so I can definitely follow along with this video! I don't own other mediums like Neocolor 2, Pan Pastels, or distress inks, so a lot of times I'm not able to follow color along videos unless I just use only colored pencils, Sparkle Pop gel pens, Posca pens, etc so I'm excited to be able to follow along! And I only have Prismas and Polychromos pencils so I have plenty to make beautiful coloring pages, I just don't have the variety of mediums like others do. But I'm working on building up my stash! Thank you for sharing this K! I love your finished pages! You do such a beautiful job!

I would like to say if I'm looking for inspiration I come to you for the sparkly shiny highlights and background ideas so even if you don't think you're "professional" you're definitely doing it right lol. I would look at that page and be intimidated by all the detail but you have a knack of making it still look detailed but doing it in a simple way (hope that makes sense 😂)
For tutorials and inspiration I like to watch your videos, Shel's colouring journey, colored by Maia and Lucy just adds colour. You're my favourites for sure 💕 and they are the first completed pages videos I go for every month because I really just love your styles and all together I learn so much from the 4 of you.

Did you have to fix the gel sticks?
Thank you! 😊 I never fix the gel sticks with any fixative, I just put some tracing paper between the pages. Hope you enjoy the book 💕

Can I use workable fixative spray over these gel stick crayons? Or is that a bad idea, or unnecessary? I've had my KingArt gel stick crayons for a while now but haven't used them because I'm not sure if I need to use fixative or not and I don't want to mess up my pages after putting so much time and work into them!
I don’t use fixative on gel crayons and I don’t seem to get any transfer on to the tracing paper I cover it with. I personally don’t think it’s necessary, I’ve never tried putting workable fixative on gel crayons so can’t comment on that unfortunately.
