What I learned most from this video was something unrelated to Caleb. I learned that Rome is out there already cooking DBs in his 4th game. He's gonna be special once CW figures it out
He's been cooking them since week one.. it was way more obvious then then this past week.. Rome is open alot but earlier in the season it felt almost caleb was trying to feed dj and Keenan and at times force it.. now he's feeding others I think cuz Keenan was out for a bit.
21m, I think it was because Rome didn't turn his head to look back, the pocket collapsed and Caleb had to get rid of it before Rome looked back. Throwing it deep and hitting Rome in the Head or getting a first down... have to go with the first down, the WR group needs to have a faster clock on looking back.
Nah that’s on Caleb. I think he’s the truth but Rome was open and he has gotta throw that. I get it we got the 1st, but when the WR gets that open down deep you gotta throw it and then if it’s a catchable ball it’s Rome’s job to find the ball and catch it.
You saying you don't know why he checked it down so quickly while simultaneously showing the line breaking down and the Right End about to hit him is crazy
Appreciate the insight Tim, definitely helps those of us who only watch on game day (or not as the case was yesterday due to traveling home from vacation). I'll always take a win but particularly nice to see the QB mostly mistake free and certainly protecting the football!
gotta think the deeper route he went off of was because he was again expecting to get hit from his left as 70 or whoever was missing that block all day.
@2xmed266 if it wasn't for Rams secondary holding, rookie" jared verse would had 3 sacks.. Braxton is a big issue, 2weak.. gonna get bull rushed every week.. what took us so long to help him with a chip block is another reason why CMo and Waldron needs to go
That’s Jones, wait until we get our draft pick from this year in there Amegadjie. He was injured until last week but he’s a rookie and missed all of camp, preseason, and 3 regular season games. I’d love to see you and JT O’Sullivan sit down for a pod and film review. You both have a few opposite takes on some of these things every week. Appreciate the content!
Another great breakdown, Tim! I'm really hoping the two big plays Caleb seemingly turned down aren't because of Eberflus and the rest of the coaches beating it into his brain to not turn it over. Being smart with the ball is obviously important, but CW needs to play his brand of football, which is him attacking downfield with the football.
13:10 I listed to you harp on Caleb and that screen repeatedly, he didn't get hit because he didn't retreat (besides retreat is away from target, you have him retreating sort of toward the target) but either way he was going to get leveled either way because Braxton Jones got beat by Verse. If Braxton holds that block for any time at all Caleb doesn't get hit.
Jones got bullied by Verse all game. Just havent seen any development out of Jones in year 3. Time to move on cant keep letting Caleb get hit. At 9:27 holding penalty is on 65 not 64. I know they called it on 65 originally but then all said it should have been 64. However, it was 65 that was holding the jersey when the d-lineman was attempting to make a tackle to his right. If anything it was a hold on both 64 and 65.

Thank you for another good film analysis. Hopefully QB1 keeps improving and the offense generate a win that is considered an NFL statement win. Right now, the offense is very rough, personnel use is highly questionable, OC playcalling is still subpar, OL still needs to improve and faith in the HC to truly command a full game is still wobbly. Bear down!
Caleb is going to start Turning some 300yd games soon. You can just see it he knows where to go with the ball, he just needs to see it work a few times. That’s why the kmet throw was my fav of the day. And that swift run was so important because our dline got their asses handed to them just before that drive. So to see the o line step up and back out defense for once was nice
The first play.. Our angles are horrible on these pass plays. We always make it so our receivers can’t just catch the ball and get up field. We force the route too far outside and we get turned around usually resulting in not being able to read the blocks correctly.
I think I see the issue with DJ, he is out there cooking his guy while Caleb seem to be trying to force the Williams to Rome connection. Good problem to have but if he just give DJ a look, he can change the game. We got this though, bear down !
It looks like Caleb is being coached to play it safe so that he doesn't put the defense in a bad spot. If true, that would explain (to me) why he is second guessing the big plays. It was a thing with Fields as well which makes me think Flus is a big reason for it. Maybe I'm wrong, but that would explain 18 passing up on the chunk gains
Watched Chase Daniel breakdown this film and he almost said the opposite. He said this was growth from Caleb not looking to always take the shot and check down when it is there. Interesting the contrast
Finally put Swift's feet to the fire & he delivered in the passing game as well. Maybe he felt the heat from Roshon. Together maybe Chicago wont have the worst rushing attack.🤔
They should have featured him more in the passing game in prior games. He is great in space as an open field runner. He and Roshon complement each other well. is more of an inside runner and doesn't have the speed and quick cuts Swift has. I like Herbert but they don't want to play him.
Regarding the TE on 3rd & 4: They cant have Cole Kmet block because hes been bad at blocking this year so far (until he makes a good one later in the second half). So Cole has to run the route and not Rome. If it were screen option instead of a screen with Cole cutting inside of Rome, its probably a first down because Rome had inside leverage when he needed outside leverage for the screen to work. At least Shane wasnt calling as many screens this week, and one did work with Swift, but man its still infuriating that the Bears cant get an opening drive score so far. Id take a FG just to make a damn statement instead of dropping turds on the first set of plays.
First play. That all hinged off the fact that the play before that Swift didn't put his head down and get 1 to 2 extra yards, he decided to do a dance routine in traffic and got stood up. That's when I screamed at the TV. I would bench him for Rashawn Johnson. Somebody got into Swift's ear on the sidelines and he didn't do that the rest of the game and ended up having a pretty good day

At the 20:45 minute mark Tim is wondering why Caleb got off the vertical route so fast and immediately checked it down to kmet. I believe this was due to him believing he wasn’t going to have enough time to look for the deep route and his internal clock told him he needed to get rid of it right away. In this case he was right because if you look closely, you see that Braxton was beat yet again and Verse was about to get pressure on Caleb.
