Wasn't aware that I could change replacement effects on Conclave Mentor. Settings > disable "Auto choose replacement effects". This means you can first get the counter from Mentor before doubling with Branching Evolution, resulting in even chonkier creatures.
For anyone interested, doing this with just 1 Conclave Mentor and 1 Branching Evolution in play would have only given LVD 1 additional counter each time it came up.
I have to keep saying it, you're the best MTG content creator. Still the ONLY one who takes the time to put cards on screen that you reference. Not a criticism at all, just a request, love your best of three uploads even more. Thanks for all your hard work. I don't use social media of any kind any more, so I can't do more than word of mouth, but keep it up, and thank you sooo much. Your sub count is way below what you deserve.
BobSMASH thanks for making time to write that. He needs to be reminded. That amount of subs and uro / nissa decks all over standard make me feel pessimistic about magic laTely. I am trying to make a anti ugin bo3 deck. Have a dimir discard with nearest both ugins and ashiok but the win rate vs deck it is built against is still little over 50 percent, that only says how busted nissa is. I would be so happy if anybody had soulution against that deck. I hate it.
@@evzenkastl6386 Spyglass? Best solution is to play Fae of Wishes and pull out cheap spells as you need them. It's also a really good blocker against 3/3 lands.
You should go into your settings and unselect “Auto choose replacement effects.” In game 1, you could have gotten 6 counters each time ((1+1+1)*2) instead of just 4 (auto: 1*2+1+1).
I've been running a variation on this deck since Jumpstart released on Arena, and it's so fucking infuriating to me that the auto ordering doesn't automatically resolve cumulative replacement effects after additive ones. Same with my janky Torbran Emancipation deck. Seriously how the fuck did they mess the coding up and always resolve cumulative effects first?
This is the sort of deck that makes me glad we have arena to do the counting for us. So many effects and triggers and doubling, I'd never know how many counters to put on anything in paper.
Going in for surgery in 2 hours(routine but still nerve wracking). There is no better way to calm the nerves than to watch the best MTG content creator drop a new vid. Thanks as always LVD you are a hero to us all.
So many counters, I love these synergies with all the new cards should have content for years to come with all these new historic cards, keep up the great work LVD 👍👌
I explained my reasoning on stream when I built the deck. There are too many matchups where the opponent doesn't end up removing any of our creatures to win the game. Blue counterspell decks, combo decks like Treasure Hunt, Song of Creation, or Omni Flood, even Goblins to an extent are all perfectly capable of winning without removing a single creature.
Finally! I was waiting for a Mikaeus counters deck. I’m not really sure about evolution, it seems too slow (being 3 mana and not immediatly affecting the battlefield). It did actually turn out to be insanely strong though. The rest is exactly how i imagined the deck myself, it even seems a lot better. Great job man as always!
mostly unrelated to the video, but watching you playing a lot of conclave mentor reminded me of a draft i played yesterday. i was playing an m21 draft and my opponent dropped 3 conclave mentors in the first 4 turns. his sabertooth mauler was terrifying... lol
You know of all the moojeek duh goobering content creator, you're the most creative and informative of them. And your voice is 10/10 on par with merchant
A way to make this a bit cheaper for those without many wildcards would to add in garruk's uprising to replace a few copies of vivian if you don't have them, gives all your creatures trample and a little bit of card draw, does have you miss out on a few other nice effects from vivian but it is just a nice cheap replacement if you don't feel like spending wildcards on vivian
Once Kaladesh Remastered eventually gives us Winding Constrictor, will this deck replace white with black? If we replace Ajani with Vivien as you suggested, the only remaining white card would be the singleton Mikaeus, which doesn't seem essential. Constrictor is not that different from Mentor (the second ability was meant for energy and won't come up in the deck), but it has more toughness, which could be reason enough to make the switch?
just saying, end of match 6, you had 26 damage with trample(add+1/1 counter to everything with lunarch) and a 6 power rishkar that would be chumped by a 2/2, if they blocked everything out at the most efficient possible they would stop 20 damage(15 damage stopped+5 lifelinked) so they would be left with 11 hp and an empty board while you would have 21 power still left on board for the following turn, as you had more than enough lands to just sack for phyrexian obliterator. unless he would draw a board-wipe(ritual of soot might've been in his deck?) he was dead next turn if you swung with everything possible that turn(with luminarch tapping to add counter to all)
Why were you targeting the Wildwood Scourge with Vivien? It would get the same number of counters regardless of what you targeted, you're just missing out on free +1/+1 counters on other creatures by targeting it.
i think u can stack the replacement effects from conclave mentor and the evolution like u want. perhaps u have "auto replacement" in the settings activated. hydra for x=1 with mentor and evolution should give u a 4/4 instead of a 3/3 then.
Didn't you have lethal at 17:00? Play Vivian, kill the Djinn attack with all for exactsies? Edit: No. You, of course were right. I thought Vivian minus just outright killed flyers.

How about adding one Mowu, Loyal Comapion for the extra spice. I mean he probally doesn't make the deck better but in my opinion it is just a cool card design

@@LegenVD Well, I was thinking about trading, but after watching the gameplay, I can see that it indeed rarely happens due to sheer size of the creatures. So actual threat is indeed better than the Ozolith.
Don't expect to get to eight mana very often and Rhonas could be better if we only have one or two giant Tramplers in play. Although it was on the sideboard shortlist.
Not really constructed playable. You would have to build your entire deck around protecting it, which just isn't feasible in a format as fast as Historic.
I can't adequately express how much I despise the Song of Creation combo deck. It's just a long, protracted way of losing that you have to sit through because they sometimes fizzle.
Basri is too difficult to cast, Lieutenant is in the sideboard, Solidarity is an option, but probably worse than alternatives like Unbreakable Formation.
Lvd if you are fed up with nissa / uro / ugin decks as I am, can you build a bo3 deck to fight them? I know bo3 standard is so boring lately but if enough of us play a hate deck, it might discourage them netdeckers. I think that more then 70 percent of players in standard play U/G plus a color in bo3 now. And it’s becoming so boring already.
You can't really hate out UG/x in standard. Look at the most recent Redbull tournament for evidence of this. Edit: And yes, almost everyone will agree with you that standard is very unfun atm. The only winning move is to not play.
LiterallySomeDude LiterallySomeDude Hi, thanks for the info. I checked the decklists and i still think i ll rather play againts reclamation then ramp. wanted to write the same after 2:24. if u chose the replacementeffects correctly, the mentor gets affected by the evolution.

28:30 Wouldn't Gemrazer be better? you can mutate onto stonecoil for the same cost and give your serpent +4/+4 while you're at it
Yeah, it was probably still better.

have you considered adding blue for hearaldof secret streams?
Probably not worth it, the mana is sketchy enough already.
