Welding a lockbox to an existing metal gate.

Taking an old sagging metal gate and straighten it up. Adding a lockbox so that my gardener can quickly and easily open the gate. Last time I welded was in 1993 as a sophomore in high school. Will my muscle memory kick in or will it fail me?
