    Mason mix isn't for pouring any type of slabs it's for brick block and joints

    Love the Z forms great 👍🏼 idea. I use the countertop mix and it almost comes out white and it’s easy to stain. You should always use a sawz all without the blade against the z forms to get out all the air pockets.

    You can also use a dull oscillating blade in an oscillator and it will cut just as well with near zero dust.
    I made my forms and reverse poured. I so wished I would have went with z forms. If I didn’t have PTSD from grinding concrete or spend $800 on white concrete countertop mix, $200 in industrial glow rocks and turquoise glass, I might have considered it.
    You should have really used 10,000 PSI countertop mix that has polymer and fiberglass reinforcement. Hopefully the the concrete doesn’t crack. Especially when I heard you used double coloring. The diamond sanding pads work best wet sanding with a $40 polisher. Dry sanding can burnish concrete surface and make sealer not last. Good luck.

    Fun video and gave me some ideas for my future outdoor kitchen, thanks. Never done a DIY project as big as an outdoor kitchen, but with the costs I am seeing, I think I am going to try it. Plus it'll give me a chance to buy some new toys, er, tools!
    Last but not least...GIG 'EM!!!

    Those diamond polishing pads are made to be used with water and a specific polisher thus the hole in the middle of the pad where water flows through and are NOT for a sander

    If you get tired of the color just do an epoxy pour over, maybe marble pattern, with a high shine top coat

    There is the stuff called fiberglass reinforced concrete or “light concrete”.
    No need for rebar of any sort.
    Would’ve been rather easy to make your own built-In brick pizza oven really

    I wanted to love this project and I think that i do, but I want to call out manufacturers who are super single use plastics based. I love your project and your outcome, but if the forms were had a biodegradable component, I would be way more excited. That said, if I was building a similar project at my house, I would have done exactly the same thing.

    Been deciding on the framing. Wood vs metal studs. Having any issue with heat from the grill ? Or did you install a insulting sleeve to the grill ?

    • @Alphasig336
      @Alphasig336 2 роки тому

      If you have choice I used metal on patio. The steel studs are on top of cheapest Lowes composite decking to keep it dry. It’s
      Galvanized but not rust PROOF.

    What’s the difference between portable grill vs built in grill beside prices?

    • @ZeroToAwesome
      @ZeroToAwesome  2 роки тому

      Pretty sure it’s materials and serviceability. Built ins are typically mostly stainless steel for longevity and almost every component can be swapped out since it’s stuck where it’s installed

    I have a question. Was your concrete slab sloped from the house? I would like to try this for our back patio but I am wondering if our concrete needs more leveling...

    • @ZeroToAwesome
      @ZeroToAwesome  Рік тому +1

      It was. We cut the upright studs to level the counter out but in the comments people seemed to agree that you should build your cabinets square and then shim them to level

      @@ZeroToAwesome thank you so much! I have been literally wrecking my brain on what we should do. Our home is 2 years old and we had outlets and a vent placed to create a very similar setup, but we didn't think about the concrete for it at the time. BTW, we just got our Ooni Karu 16 (will get the gas setup in the future). Working on mastering the pizza crust as I type....lol.
