Funny thing is, when i watched this episode I had completely forgotten what was inside the box because it was like 6-7 years ago when the fishmen island arc aired.

The Tamate Box was probably so strong because it was meant to blow up underwater, where bombs are usually less powerful
Believe it or not, explosions are actually more potent underwater.

Fun fact:tamate box was sent to mama during Fishman island arc
^ People forget that. Originally the tamate box contained the drugs that Hody used to buff himself. After the drugs were stolen the king put in a bomb big enough to destroy the next person that would open it so whoever is searching for the drugs wouldnt be able to get any. They forgot that they put a bomb in and let mamas troops take the box along with all the gold offerings. The king even reacted to it, saying that he hoped that they didn't take the tamate box by mistake.
One piece has some amazing foreshadowing.

Watch the Fish Man Island arc. It was sent waaay back then. It was one of the offerings taken with the gold. It used to contain the drugs that Hody used, after the drugs were stolen the King put a bomb large enough to kill the next person searching for the drugs.
