Emo I hear ya on that! I LOVE her music but somehow this song escaped me for years. I'm just finding this gem in my 50s and it totally blows me away. She really needs to get back to doing more songs like this~it showcases her voice with how beautiful it truly is. It hits me so personally when I found this last year because I'd just reconnect with a former long time ex fiancee. We'd been on AND off for almost 20 years and had finally made amends with each other. We will always be friends no matter what because THAT IS how we began at age 15. He has a terminal illness and he was told last year about 2 of my brain diseases that have made me fully disabled in these last 5 years. When I found this song was about a month AFTER I got my 3RD brain diagnosis and my 1ST thoight was how do I break this to him after just reuniting as friends after all this time? My disease IS fatal and I've got to tell him. The parts about how she wants him TO STAY hit me very deeply cuz I WON'T remember him. I'll just lose 20 years of my life in a flash~that is how this disease works and then he will just be a nobody to me. It's NOT a slowly progressive disease. I CAN go upstairs right now and come back down and just forget FOREVER that I was watching this video and forget WHY I liked it or even who she is....it will just be gone from me forever. I've got a few years left my Neuro says so get your things in order while you still can think FOR yourself and that's it. This song is so amazing to me because we went through SO MUCH in our time together. SO many ppl were against us even being together and were very blatantly nasty to us about our whole relationship and treated US as "less than" other ppl in their relationships. We didn't care and kept on going; whatever happened BETWEEN US was not told to others who disapproved. PPL ARE STILL amazed that I've accepted his apology and made amends and that just blows my mind. How long are you going to hold onto anger cuz that shit EATS YOU UP INSIDE. Especially if the other person is going to "man up" and apologize for their faults and the wrong things they did and how they were thinking about you AND acting towards you. That apology could not have been any MORE all encompassing...so WHY NOT accept it decades later? I LOVE this song but in a lotta ways it makes me sad but that also IS what makes it so beautiful amd heartfelt. I really feel that it is one of her best pieces of music. Peace Out ❤
