My father was a cop. When he was on patrol, he saw a cop from another town with someone pulled over (town on one side of the street and different town in the other side). He went to assist and saw the other cop violating the citizens rights. He reported him and instead of repercussions for the other officer, he was suspended for two weeks. He got a job as a cop in a different town. When he saw another officer stealing the battery out of his squad car, he reported him. Again, my father was suspended because the cop stealing the battery turned out to be the nephew of the police chief. He quit and never went back into law enforcement. He's still proud of his service but understood the corruption in the system wasn't for him. That was 40 years ago. Seems little has changed despite cameras being everywhere and all the audits taking place. I know there are good cops out there and videos of good cops doing a good job don't get the clicks, but there's no doubt that there's a lot broken with the system. One can o ly hope one day we can truly live as sovereign citizens and not worry about cops violating our civil rights.
Your dad was one of the few good cops in this country and I appreciate what he tried to do for his community sorry he had to leave his job because of the corruption. I hope the best for you and your father my friend.

I also was in law enforcement for 7 years and quit. Exact same reason. I found I wanted to force and punish my children if they didn't instantly obey me instead of understanding they were children and needed to be treated as and taught as children. In law enforcement you develop an us vs them mentality and everyone other than law enforcement is a criminal or "potential" criminal. And a mentality of forcing compliance.

Isn’t Rodriguez v US the case about whether a traffic stop can be extended to specifically allow for search of a vehicle using a police dog? I’m not sure any reasonable legal reading could extrapolate the decision out to say that no officer is legally permitted to extend a traffic stop for any reason. I may be remembering the wrong case, however, but I don’t think so.

Isn’t Rodriguez v US the case about whether a traffic stop can be extended to specifically allow for search of a vehicle using a police dog? I’m not sure any reasonable legal reading could extrapolate the decision out to say that no officer is legally permitted to extend a traffic stop for any reason. I may be remembering the wrong case, however, but I don’t think so.
That’s because the guy in the video is a moron and was lucky an even stupider cop was on the other side of his camera because otherwise he would have owned his ass for citing laws that do not even pertain to the case at hand. Clown ass auditor
Rodriguez v US was about unnecessarily extending a stop to have a police dog brought to the scene. Abandoning your stop to accost someone behaving in a perfectly lawful way is just as unnecessary and is violative of the suspect's (not the cameraman's) Right to be free from unreasonable seizures.
