    Five years along and this is still the most helpful overview of Star Wars’ crazy rules. Thanks!

    This video was really helpful to me and helped me get my best score yet (2.2 billion).
    I also greatly appreciated your unboxing video! When I got my own Star Wars Pro I felt well prepared to unbox and configure it.

      It really is a great game, and I think a lot of people get lost on it because of all the different paths you can take. When I first bought the game, on the first day I was like OH NO, I don't think I really like it!... then it really clicked after a couple days, and working through the modes is so addictive!

    Hey Josh, great video! I'm curious...you say that destroying the death star is two-ball play and if you loose one ball the mode ends. At 11:40 you loose a ball, but still went on to destroy the death star. Is that because the Tie fighter multi-ball kept you in play or am I missing something?

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  7 років тому

      +nickbtx yes, stacking the multi balls increases your odds of finishing the modes, and Tie Fighter multi balls is pretty easy to get on its own. If you can hold it off so you are just 3 or 4 Tie Fighters away by the time you start your mini wizard mode, you should be all set!

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  7 років тому

      +nickbtx I went back to look at that time stamp, the ball save was still active when that ball drained, so it would have thrown my ball back into play. Typically when a multiball starts you will get some time with ball save activated.

    • @RyanM-gc4og
      @RyanM-gc4og 5 років тому

      looks like ball save is on almost the entire time from 11:20 on, except for 11:56 - 12:07.

    • @RyanM-gc4og
      @RyanM-gc4og 5 років тому

      why does the ball save turn back on at 12:06?

    • @RyanM-gc4og
      @RyanM-gc4og 5 років тому

      and ball save turns back on at 11:49 as well.

    Excellent tutorial; any changes to these strats now that the code is further along?

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  6 років тому +2

      Not really. All of the core stuff works pretty closely to how we showed it here. One big difference to the default in the code with later versions is where we showed how we could stack Mode 4 from both Endor and Death Star. It now only allows you to play Mode 4 for any planets by themselves (no stacking). You can still stack modes 1-3 from any planet with another planet 1-3 modes. However, If you go into the game settings, you can turn the Mode 4 stacking back on, but just know that this is not a factory default now.
      Some stuff like the way points are awarded with other characters is perhaps balanced a little more than the version that was running in this video. If you are not paying attention to multipliers when playing, the scores should be fairly similar between characters. I think now with the latest code, I may have gotten some of my best scores, or at least finished the game more often with Han or Leia.
      Lately I have been playing the game just to finish the modes, and not focusing on score as much. For me, knocking off the Jedi training requirement seems to be one of the harder tasks, so playing with Luke or Leia will let you increase one ranking every ball if you choose it as your path before you plunge. So by ball 3 and after a couple multi balls, you'd likely finished it by then. The far right stand up Jedi Target just below the Tattooine scoop is a slightly risky shot. Usually if I have a chance to finish up Tattooine modes early on, I go for it, because again, that right scoop shot can be tough when you are tired from playing the Hoth, Endor, and Deathstar modes first.
      Also, In my experience, the Pro model is much easier than the Premium/LE. Even though both games have a Hyper Space Multiball, there is really no incentive to do this mode, other than for points, or maybe to increase your chance of accidentally finishing up the Jedi training or TIE fighters from all the chaos from having additional balls floating around.
      If you simply want to finish the game, Once you hit 100 Tie Fighters, and Complete Jedi Training, and if you dont care about your score.. start ignoring things like Hyper Space Multi Ball, and completing Mode 4s and Victory Multi Balls.. since you dont have to finish mode 4s to move on, you only need to start them. To prevent myself from getting fatigued, once i start a Mode 4 multi ball, i will not play it for long and just sort of let it drain down to 1 ball so I can quickly move onto the next requirement, otherwise its easy to have a 40+ minute game going and be dead tired trying to finish that last requirement to start the battle with the Emperor.

    My top score is 11 billion and I scored 7 days ago with Han Solo.
    Usually I tend to increase bonus multiplayers and take held bonus.
    Sorry for my English.
    Usually I play it in the arcade where I live.

    I want to buy a new pinball machine, I have not owned one since the 80's. I am interested in Star Wars pro or ghostbusters pro. Since you own both can you give me some advice? I live in Canada as well and we pay more for the machines here. I know there were issues with ghostbusters with the slimer toy and the play field. What build date should I avoid? I hope stern has these issues addressed with the newer builds. Any feedback will be appreciated.

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  7 років тому

      Mike Kean all of the issues that were plaguing the Ghostbusters should be totally addressed now. In terms of playfield dates to avoid, generally anything late 2016 should be fine. My replacement playfield for my Ghostbusters has a 2016 date and it was fine, so it’s sort of rare to get a bad playfield. My Star Wars has been fine... no issues at all. I recommend ordering a new machine through Nitro Pinball. If you call Tommy, tell him Josh sent you! He can ship all across canada, and also has techs available in many places to help with setup or technical issues.

      Thanks for the info Josh. I am leaning towards ghostbusters pro over the Star Wars pro. It just seems ghostbusters has so many objects on the play field and it looks like a fun game. On the other hand I love the Star Wars theme. I will keep nitro pinball in mind. I noticed they are in B.C. And I am in NL.

    Great video(s) guys!! Quick general question..I am looking to buy my 2nd pinball machine (I bought a used Bally's-Williams The Shadow machine a decade ago)...and it is down to Batman '66 Catwoman Edition or Star Wars Pro (or maybe LE if it is worth the upgrade, thought I like the cab better on the Pro)...and yes I want to buy NIB. Thanks for any tips! I am a huge SW fan and comic guy, so the theme is important to me since it is as much about the ambiance of the game as the gameplay for home ownership :). Keep up the great work!

    My local pub has just one of these! And i've decided to beat the highscore, but i dont understand the gamemodes and rules really :P Anywhere i can read or learn about the specifics about this machine? I've gotten to 300 million by sheer luck and the highscore is 1.5billion. I haven't played much pinball before but im obsessing over this machine, any help? :)

    On the mini wizards, how do you use the add a ball, and how do you get more add a balls?

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  6 років тому

      To add a ball, you have to keep shooting the FORCE drop targets until your action button on the lock bar turns orange, then you press it to add the ball and a short duration of ball save is also activated. I believe you can pass on an add a ball and use it on a later multiball, but I need to try that yet to see if it works.

    Hello! Thank you for this amazing video. I am a new pinball player who has this machine in the bowling alley i work at and i have gotten hooked! Highest score is only 300 million on the machine, and i only managed a high score of 187 million. The way your playing is absolutely ridiculous. So I have one really, really important question to ask.
    At 16:00, you ball is shot into the hole where it bring up the R2-D2 screen, and then shoots the ball back at your left flipper. The pinball machine i play on will ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS shoot the ball right in between the flippers. Ive played so many times i actually dread when it gets in that spot because i know ive tried almost everything to save the ball and it has never been recovered from that spot.
    Can this pinball machine be tampered with or maybe just be a little off that it not allowing players to save their ball from that spot? It hasn't stopped me from trying to high score on the machine, but man i thought i didn't know the "trick" to saving the ball. From what i see, your machine just shoots it right into the flipper. Thank you for your contribution!

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  6 років тому

      the scoop can sometimes get knocked out of alignment a bit over time. The operator of the game can adjust the power that the scoop kicks the ball out and it should hopefully feed it back to one of your flippers depending on the strength. If you know that shot is going down the middle each time, you might be able to give the machine a little nudge to send it off course and hopefully back to one of your flippers. Hope this helps! ~Josh

    That victory multi-ball, does that use all the balls as multi-ball?

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  7 років тому

      +Peter Vachon yes, also the mini wizard modes can have all 6 balls as well if you can get the Add-a-balls in time

      Does the death star open up on your model or is that a different version?

    • @TheCanadianArcade
      @TheCanadianArcade  7 років тому +1

      +Peter Vachon the Premium and LE models have the Hyper space loop that goes through the Death Star, but the Premium is about $2500 more than the Pro model. Not really worth the extra for me personally, but Rule-wise everything is more or less the same

      Thank you! We are going to revisit with some other character strategies down the road. I've been practicing up with Leia and Han lately and putting up some good scores... maybe Stern will rebalance it in a code update because R2D2 is just so much better to use for most scenarios to the point it almost makes the game boring. I've been enjoying the game a lot more over the last week and a bit since I started taking the other characters more serious. ~ Josh

    I prefer Metallica. Better music selection, tons of ways to get multiball and wait a minute...the setup is gosh darn near the same, including the mystery box location.
