Enjoyed this Yamaha display Steve. Yep , Yamaha makes everything. I owned a set of the live oak customs . I loved those drums. My band mates said they were really loud. During the Pandemic ( with no gigs for 18 months) I sold them. I needed the money. That virus messed up our country.
Thank you for the tour! I've always thought Yamaha's white Stage Customs look so much more expensive than they really are, especially when seen in person.
@oysterhead5150 yeah, bit of a bummer. I think the drum companies should always showcase their flagship, no matter what. I get the feeling PHX is phasing out. Seems to be less and less of them stocked anywhere, and they have a 2year wait on orders. Maybe Yamaha is intending to go completely china based, which sucks. It's their Chinese production of drums that stops me from buying them.
I'm a big fan of Yamaha and I swear by the Stage Custom. It's a stellar kit and understated as heck. I'd play mine on any stage. Thank you for the great video, Steve Weiss Music!
I love the sound of Yamaha drums, I hate that the finishes are so limited and then there’s the China problem. Don’t get me wrong, my Recording Custom and AHM are great, they’re well made but still…. Make Yamaha Japanese again.
You took the words out of my mouth, almost to the letter. I still have my Power RC’s from the early 90’s, with the Japanese birch, and picked up the Polar White AHM’s, because I got an obscenely KILLER deal on it, and couldn’t pass it up. But, the china thing just about made me pass on it, and still irk’s me to this day. But, one thing is certain….it’s hands down THE best sounding maple kit I’ve ever owned. But, I agree 100%, they really need to bring the manufacturing back to Japan. Do you know if it’s just now only the Phoenix kit that’s still made there?
Nothing new ? In acoustic drums ? No news finish ? What happen to yamaha drums its seems that thé flagship kit is an stage custom ?? I have an old RC and its amazing but for the new customer , the youngers stage custom and thats all ? ??
@@marcabitbol4667 English is clearly you second language, and you didn’t read his post. He didn’t say anything about no new finishes…he said the finishes were limited. And, the flagship drums aren’t the Phoenix line, they happened to just be promoting them with that display, and clearly Yamaha is offering expansion drums to that series.
I agree 100%. No way would I ever pay top dollar and have my high end Yamaha or Tama kit say "Made in China." My kit should say made in USA, Japan, Germany, or even Pearl stuff in Taiwan. Especially when nowadays the Amercian companies are pumping out excellent stuff.
Since the separation with Sakae Yamaha's passion has lessened. I did not want to be that voice, but the years have proven it true. If you look back at what was offered in the Beech, Birch, and Maple Custom Absolute, the Tour Custom (not this current one), the Club Custom, the Rock Tour, and Maple Custom Definitive the caparison speaks for itself. Grain finishes are lost when you stand 20 feet away let alone 50 in the back of a crowd (former owner of a Oak and Beech Custom: grain hardly gets more intricate than these). But fine have grain finishes; to each their own. But also offer sparkles, fades, sparkles bursts, rainbow, and the like. People would absolutely pay extra for a premium product. Resigning white, not continuing to trickle down the nouveau hook lugs to lower lines, eliminating hardware choices (yess mount series, lugs, etc), and more of what I said above all shows less passion. Thank you Steve Weiss Music for the upload and Happy Birthday to those whom it applies. 🥳
Its about time yamaha offered affordable professional range drums. Im Sorry but im not sure what happened! In the 2000s and late 2000s yamaha stage customs and tour customs were considered beginer garbage kits and now they are professional line!? No. The raydeen were considered childa drums and now they are beginner drums? Somethi g dpesnt add up here. Bring the ymaha absolute maple to 1500$ and boom more customers.
lol @ Dudes at NAMM who act like they are at Guitar Center, showing off their pedestrian skills, annoying the eff out of everyone else. As a person whose skills are indeed pedestrian, I would NEVER jam on a kit at NAMM. Screams newb… Thanks for mentioning The Cavaliers and DCI at various booths.
Nice kits......but i dont care what company makes them.....i think all kits look awful in red......cant put my finger on it....but they just do....i have no aversion to the colour red....i support LIVERPOOL FC.....but just any red kit just looks YUK...
Been playing Stage Customs since 96...on my third kit...nothing but compliments from band mates and sound techs on their sound.

Hi from Sweden 🇸🇪. Nice to be at NAMM. Thanks for the video.
That white kit is LIT!

Where's the PHX?
I know right?! Yamaha had nothing new to offer this year in their acoustic drums, disappointing 😢

I wish they would offer the stage custom hip kick as an add on
@@JohnnieJQman I mean even though their higher end kits are made in China, the quality is still there.
@@oysterhead5150…the hardware is not nearly as good as once was.
Lot’s of breakage on brackets, throw offs etc. Sad.
I guess that stage custom had all available sizes in a kit? Looks good

Great Video. Less selfies now 👍
Love Yamaha

Still no update of the EAD 10.😢
Is that white set oak?
Are there any new product/ drum kit from Yamaha in 2025?
the rack proves Yamahas hardware is tops
Phx???? Hardware????
no one drum brand can not do a new kit every year. But... How about color options???
they have lost their passion
👍👍
Slow that camera pan, bro. I feel like I’m on the tilt-a-whirl. It’s really hard to watch.

No PHX . . .
What about Pearl?
Pearl did not have an exhibit at NAMM this year
@SteveWeissMusic man that sucks! Thanks for all the great videos
Once again, as in most NAMM videos, not one good musician testing the equipment out..🤣
man listening at people who don'tk now how to play is painfull, same beat for 10 min..

Don't want to miss that shot just in case Les Claypool walks by.
ha... they really seem to have no sense of shame... amazing how they can make great instruments sound cheaply made
Maybe force these hacks to use a metronome
Yamaha drummer since 1985...
As for Yamaha Percussion...nothing new.
so many annoying mediocre drummers.
