That grey, sometimes banded/layered obsidian I get from the San Fran peaks here in AZ is my favorite stuff so far. The banding can make it finicky sometimes. Haven't found enough of the Mohogany to know if I like it or not. And I heard you use your teeth scissors on those glove tags. Naughty Jack.

I had folks tell me that I fly tie weird. They say I tie flys like a left-handed person, but I'm right-handed. I don't think the fish care how the flys tied, just that their mouth hurts! 😮😊

Patrick, I’m the 90 year old obsidian guy from the Eastern Sierra who emailed you about two years ago saying I had been bitten by the flintknapping bug and even at 88 was going to pursue the craft. Well, I’m 2 years into it now, minus the 3 months I took off for a hip replacement. I do about 20 hours a week. I’ve made some 800 points with at least half still preforms. They are crude but functional, but I could feed my family. It’s the most interesting hobby I’ve ever tried in spite of the bleeding and sore hands, especially my thumbs.
I’m writing this comment because in your recent 2075 video (45:30 in and for 2 minutes) you suggested I had questioned your honesty by saying you cheat on the centerline. The word cheat obviously angered you. But you call several of your tools cheating tools: diamond files, screwdrivers, notch-o-matic, etc. In other videos I’ve heard you say you cheat on the centerline for expedience. So I used the word familiar to you. I was not accusing, I was teasing, poking a little fun, cajoling. I don’t do mean on the internet. I’m sorry if you misinterpreted my comment …
Hey, in the morning when I’ve made my coffee and found a new video of yours on my computer … I’m a happy camper and a happy flintknapper.

Can you point me to your original comment? I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. It's there that I would have vented my anger or made a snarky remark, or something to that effect.
You raised an interesting issue in your observation. That's why I addressed it in a video. Namely, when an observer is vigilant and sensitive to the appearance of "cheating", and I'm not saying that's what you are, the demonstration may appear to be similar to a "slight of hand" trick. I consciously seek to avoid that because it can lead to problems.
I'll need to go back and review my video. Thanks for the heads up and including the time stamp. I apologize if I misinterpreted your comment.

A lot of medieval piercing weapons are thick at the tip for reinforcement and then go to a thin profile after a couple of centimeters (for cutting, reduced resistance and weight etc.). That's for metal on metal contact - stone projectile points wouldn't face hard materials normally but they're more delicate themselves. Is it a common feature on artifacts?

It's not common for stone artifacts to have a lot of thickness at the tip.

What diameter copper rod did you use in this video for indirect percussion? Is that the normal diameter you use for flakes/points of that size?
