Should have gotten her a WRX, even if it was the CVT variant, you wouldn't have the transmission issue the Focus has. I would know, I currently own a 2016 SE Hatch. It's also roughly the same price as a new focus, mine was basically 30k when I got it in 2016. I myself in about 8-10 months am looking into getting a WRX Limited as the focus just doesn't have the power to go up hill very confidently, always feels like its struggling to do so. Don't get me wrong, the 2016 focus are great cars, and have quite a few mods out for them etc, but that transmission has issues, its also Dry-less, which I think was a bad idea on there part, I mean who thought that was a good idea to have gears grinding together.....without lubrication ? Here's what I would do, let her get use to driving with the focus, there great for that, as they aren't speed demons stock, once she's comfortable, get her something better. Preferably before the transmission dies lolz. Ok, that's my 2 cents :P.

Yeah, I own at '17 ST and those only come manual. Those Autos are hit and miss, my company has a '14 as a company car with xxxk miles on it and it's still going strong. His sister seems like the type who won't drive it too hard, hopefully it'll work out. Plus there's possibly recalls so getting it fixed hopefully wouldn't be the biggest hassle.

I was 18 and I got my first car with my student loan money. It was puking oil and mixing oil into coolant and squeaking and had so much rust and I had no time or money or knowledge to do anything about that car, but I still loved it. 1998 Pontian Grand Prix FWD 198'ish Horsepower 3.8L V6. It was like a tank and my first time driving every day in a rather harsh winter, the car was perfect. It was a rust bucket with more issues than I'd like to even TRY repairing, but it was a nice car anyways.
I remember back when my dad played around with the thought of gifting me his '99 Volvo V70 wagon then eventually decided to go through with it when he bought his new S60. When I tell you I screamed, I mean it. By any standards the car isn't much, but I learned a lot about cars through it plus it means a lot to me so I still baby it and use it regularly as a tourer/grocery getter. The sound of the 2.4L n/a I-5 isn't bad either. I was eventually gonna strip it, track it and start adding a bunch of bolt-ons(lol) but watching this video kinda really makes me want to teach my sister how to drive/gift it to her when she's 15 in 2 years. I remember back when my dad played around with the thought of gifting me his '99 Volvo V70 wagon then eventually decided to go through with it when he bought his new S60. When I tell you I screamed, I mean it. By any standards the car isn't much, but I learned a lot about cars through it plus it means a lot to me so I still baby it and use it regularly as a tourer/grocery getter. The sound of the 2.4L n/a I-5 isn't bad either. I was eventually gonna strip it, track it and start adding a bunch of bolt-ons(lol) but watching this video kinda really makes me want to teach my sister how to drive/gift it to her when she's 15 in 2 years.
