Very basic, but functional, decent looking, and reasonably comfortable. A bit like the Lada Riva. We have had both in our family, my dad had a Lada, and my sister had the Skoda. And I really don't think they were as bad as they were made out to be. They were relatively refined for cars made in the Eastern Bloc. When you compare them with the Trabant, or FSO Polonez especially. The family dog loved my dad's Riva estate.
My dad had one of these. I always made sure he dropped me off about 400 yards from the school gates…. All joking aside, they are good, solid reliable city car and cheap to run!
Funny how these Skodas are gaining some kind of cult status, I never would have expected that in the 1980s when really, they were bought by people who wanted a new car with some room, but a price as low as possible. But I can see their charm now.

I heard of someone 30 years ago who made a "Sleeper" out of one of these...... Tuned Escort RS Turbo CVH engine with about 170bhp in the arse end. Bet it was good fun !!!! Good sturdy little motors though, rip them as much as you like but then look at how well they did as rally cars......

Had a ‘G’ reg 120L 5 with the five speed gearbox back in 1992. Great car, much maligned, but reliable and surprisingly comfortable.
