Thank you. Excellent walkthrough of the Brother P-touch 2040 functions. You just got me up to speed on a new piece of department kit far faster than reading the manual.
Thanks! Before this video I didn't know a single thing about a label maker but by the end of this video I know how to label pretty good. Thanks so much!
I can tell you must be a really good teacher! Slow, articulate, demonstrative and patient! Thank you ever so much! I am terrible about reading instructions due to my ADHD;therefore, you were perfect for teaching me my new tool purchased from Sam’s. I am a bit frugal, any suggestions for buying the tape at the best prices?
Thank you! I haven't found any deals on the tape so far, I just try really hard to print as closely as possible 😂Mine seems to last a pretty good while, than goodness!
This was exceptionally delivered. I felt like I was in school again. Well done and thank you so much. I’m not afraid anymore of working with my label printer. Yay!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I used this label maker last year to label items in my classroom but now I have learned so many new features. I'm excited to add books 📚 to label my library!
You are so welcome! I also use it for incentives. The students can 'earn' a label for various things. I let them type in their own (prior approval required lol) and they love it!
thank you so much for teaching me how to use my new P touch label printer. You explains everything so easy. I look forward to learning everything about this machine.
Did the one you purchased at Sam's come with an electrical cord by chance? The one I purchased looks like it only came with batteries. I just want to make sure I did not possibly throw it away by accident from the box? I doubt it, I looked really well that I did not leave anything left inside before I discarded it. Thanks for your help.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have had this thing laying around my office for a year,i was afraid to use it! With help of your video i finlay master this device. Now i will label all of my files.
This was a great video! I need a simple label maker and wanted one with an AC Adapter. Used is fine, but I didn't know which one to buy. I loved your details examples of the options and have decided based on your excellent instruction... to get this one. Thank you!
Thank you❤ the directions that come with this machine are practically useless. I watched your instruction twice, and will probably watch it again, but at least it doesn't seem overwhelming anymore. This was great.
Thank goodness for you and your video! I have a P-touch 1880c. I couldn't find help for the step I was stuck on. I have the instructions, I have used it before. It's been years though. It was coming back to me with your explanations. I'll bet you're a good teacher, because your way of explaining really helped me. I am very right brained, and the printed instructions just weren't helping. I was worried that I was going to have to ask my right brained daughter for help. Again. 🙂 Getting really frustrated. So thanks again!
just got my label maker today other than my tinkering with it, your video was helping with the missing areas. thank you ( i just wish there was not much waste at the start of the print even doing the narrow) i can live with it lol
Your video was VERY HELPFUL to me! I am definitely a visual learner. So, Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Your calming voice kept me calm instead of getting upset if I didn’t get it at first. I do have a question. 🙋♀️ Is there a way to keep the machine from turning itself off? It keeps turning off in between the time I need to figure out what my next label is going to be. I’m in the process Of organizing files. So after I print a label, I look down to see what the next sheet to make a file label. Then, By that time the machine cuts itself off. I guess I just didn’t think I was taking that long to come back to the machine. Any suggestions?
Awesome! I'm so glad it was helpful! I really don't know the solution to the turning off problem, though :( I guess just keep pressing a button every so often?
Question. Are you able to change the cartridge before it runs out? For instance, if you want to change the tape for a different color. Thank you so much! I’m sure your tutorial will save me from wasting a lot of tape. 😊
I bought this at Costco. This is a great video you made. I noticed you can change the language you are typing but does this machine actually type out the label in foreign languages?
You are so welcome! I usually get mine from Sam's or Amazon. I haven't found a good deal yet, but mine seem to last a long time. If I have to do a string of names or words, like my class names, I just type it all out with a space or two in between and then print. Seems to help save tape. If you look on the Brother website, there are lots of size options you can use.
Do these printer come with the cord to plug it in to the electric socket? Mine looks like it only came with batteries, not the plug as well. Thank you.
This device, and other models have a glitch with chain print. “Chain print” feature should allow you to print different texts without wasting a tape. Were you able to find out the fix for this?
I know right??? I returned one 5 years ago because of that….So wasteful 😫 One Brother label maker I bought at Staples was more expensive but gives you more options including tape size
I'm printing multiple labels with different names but cannot get the distance between them to not waste tape. I have settings on narrow and chain print but the gap between is wasteful. Any suggestions
I just enter a running stream of names with a couple of spaces in between then hit print. There’s a character limit, but it will tell you when it’s full.
Well at least the margin function helps the tab at the end but still waste an inch on the beginning of the print. I returned one 5 years ago because of that….So wasteful and tape is not exactly cheap 😫 Ended up buying Brother label maker at Staples that was more expensive but gives you more options including tape sizes & tab length 😊
Drop right in there and click? I have messed up three cartridges trying to print a label. The tape gets all tangled up, and if a piece of label comes out it is black with white letters (supposed to be white with black letters.) I'm so frustrated! Going to have to return it. ☹️
Well. There's probably a better way, but what I do is... You get 80 characters per label. If I want to print labels for my class, I just type in names with 2-3 spaces in between each name until I run out of characters. Print that one and go again.
Hi do you know why this model gives me a black label with white prints instead of a white label with black prints. The cassette used to give me white laminated labels
It depends. If I’m doing a lot of different words, like names, I just type in the string, separated by a few spaces, until it tells me I’m out of characters. Then print
at the risk of feeling dumb/antiquated… mine keeps shutting off. If I’m lucky I can type 2 letters & it goes off. I’ve checked the battery placement…AOK…HELP😢
Ugh, that’s just not right 😕must be a loose connection inside somewhere. I would exchange if possible. If not, I would email Brother. They usually have excellent customer service. I’m so sorry you’re having problems!
I’m just going home and I’m not just sitting there and Watching the kids play and I don’t know what to do I don’t want them playing and I’m just like 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ssdewg and the be you a

My cousin gave me 3 tapes and I saw $1 on sale but don’t know where and when they were bought
This was exceptionally delivered. I felt like I was in school again. Well done and thank you so much. I’m not afraid anymore of working with my label printer. Yay!!!
What a wonderful explanation, you got to each point and didn't repeat yourself endlessly.
Thank you! I’m glad it was helpful!
My old PT stopped working & I saw this one at Costco. Gonna buy it. Thank you for the great demo.

Hey, thank you for your explanation. Your kids are lucky to have you as their teacher. 😊
Thank you so much. You are an awesome teacher. Your students are blessed to have you. God bless you for being a help to others 🙏🏾 ❤️.

thank you for the introduction to the label maker! Will be coming back for refresher!

Yes!! I wish there was a setting for that 😕 there is a lot of waste of material.
I learned a lot today. Thank you I was wasting a lot of tape until now. :)
Yay! Im so glad it was helpful.! That tape is expensive!
Your video was VERY HELPFUL to me! I am definitely a visual learner. So, Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Your calming voice kept me calm instead of getting upset if I didn’t get it at first.

Great tutorial. How do you minimize the left and right margins. Thank you.
thank you for the easy to understand, real help. You were so incredibly helpful to me.
You’re very welcome!
Question. Are you able to change the cartridge before it runs out? For instance, if you want to change the tape for a different color. Thank you so much! I’m sure your tutorial will save me from wasting a lot of tape. 😊
Yes, you can swap cartridges. They pop in and out with no problem. Thanks for watching!
Very, very helpful....easy to understand...I could tell you were a teacher !!!! Thank you...
Lol, Thank you! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thank you. Step by step is what I needed!
Thanks for the nice introduction to the label maker!
I bought this at Costco. This is a great video you made. I noticed you can change the language you are typing but does this machine actually type out the label in foreign languages?
Awesome job! This tutorial was very helpful! Thank you!
Very useful! Going to use this to outline and tittle topics and parts in my Bible!
This was so helpful - I don't have the instruction booklet to go with my printer, so I've not done much other than print everything in all caps!
Lol have fun! Thanks for watching!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I was missing the little booklet so this vid is a godsend. ❤
Oh, yay! Im so glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for all the information. I ran out of tape where and what size can I get the refill tape from!

Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for!
thank you for sharing. Please feel free to post more label tutorials with the same device
I’ll sure try! Thanks for watching!
Thank you I bought mine at a yard sale and don’t have no book. Thank you.
Thank you so much, I finally know how to use this little label maker thanks to you!!
Yay! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thank you! God bless the Teachers♡.
Thank you!
Thanks your video made this so much easier.
That is so Useful😁
Thank you. I just bought mine. Now to try it out.
Oh, yay! Happy labeling 😀
Is there a way to center the 2nd line
I have a question!! Why say 18 mm on machine, but it comes with tape 12 mm?? What is the correct tape?? Or what mean 18 mm??
Do these printer come with the cord to plug it in to the electric socket? Mine looks like it only came with batteries, not the plug as well. Thank you.
@@peacelovejoyandhappiness this one does
@@momdoesstuff thank you. I hope I didn’t throw it out by accident.

Does this label maker print vertical labels? If not, what model(s) have that feature?
Yes, it will print vertically. Press the FN key, then scroll through to STYLE. Hit OKI, then scroll through to VERTICAL.
how thick can you make the font?
I'm printing multiple labels with different names but cannot get the distance between them to not waste tape. I have settings on narrow and chain print but the gap between is wasteful. Any suggestions

Thank you thank you. Margin was the thing that I needed to know wasted so much tape
Hola Dónde se pueden cambiar el estilo de la letra
Your explanation is excellent!
Thank you so much!!
Thanks, but how do you Center the text if you’re typing 2 lines?
I haven’t been able to do that 🤨I just space over some on the second line
Blank gap on printed label is too much, can it be reduced to save printing material.
Does it include signs and symbols like $
Oh, yes, there's a 'Symbol' button that let's you have Many different symbols, $ included.
Thanks it was a really helpful video!
Thank you for your excellent review.
Thank you for showing us how to use this labeler. Your tutorial was very informing.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thank you bc I had no clue on how to change the font size.
You’re so welcome! I’m glad it was helpful!
Can u use different color labels ?👍
Oh, yes! Different colors and different widths. www.ptouchdirect.com
@@momdoesstuff Thank you!
is the paper self stick,or do u have to use glue or tape tomake it stick to a book or glass jar?,tfs
It's self-stick. Just peel off the backing.
bend it there is a seam on back dont try to peel from beginning or end
Very informative and easy to understand.
Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful!

Thank You! Very Helpful:)
How do you chain print different labels for less waste?
Well. There's probably a better way, but what I do is...
You get 80 characters per label. If I want to print labels for my class, I just type in names with 2-3 spaces in between each name until I run out of characters. Print that one and go again.
Appreciate the video! Well explained!
Great video, thank you!
Rally useful stuff! Thanks!
Thanks for the video Mom 💞
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching, Odetta!
Hi do you know why this model gives me a black label with white prints instead of a white label with black prints. The cassette used to give me white laminated labels
It depends on the labels. Some are white with black, some black with white, some are colors
May I ask you how many lines with small font one can print?
Only 2....as far as I can tell lol
Thank you for the tutorial, it was a great help!!!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
My machine is printing it backwards. I’ve cleared it all and it’s still printing my words backwards. Any suggestions please??
Has it ever printed correctly? If not, I’d exchange it.
thanks for the video and the tricks they were very helpful!

Oh, yes, mine is working great!
Love this video! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome tutorial, thank you!!
You’re so welcome! I’m glad it was helpful!
How do you not waste so much space?
It depends. If I’m doing a lot of different words, like names, I just type in the string, separated by a few spaces, until it tells me I’m out of characters. Then print
What size batteries no one saying that part
It takes AA. Six of them.
@@momdoesstuff 6 😱. That’s why it’s not working. They make things now with tons of batteries like printers that use a ton of ink. Spread that money 🖤🖤
at the risk of feeling dumb/antiquated… mine keeps shutting off. If I’m lucky I can type 2 letters & it goes off. I’ve checked the battery placement…AOK…HELP😢
