Also one of my Favorites. And a songthat I associate with, I have been dry for quiet some years now, BUT my love of alcohol burnt a lot of bridges, some of whom can never be rebuilt. This is a gem that reminds me never to stop staying dry.
When Jones sings and you like country music, and made bad choices yourself thru life, you relate, see someone want better and win doing it, giving you hope.
Great commentary my friend.... Everyone makes choices during life... At the end., what counts is the amount of positive ones and the final outcome. George Jones got it right and is still living and forever. Have a Great Day.!!!!1
Probably my favorite Jones tune, probably because of the message about consequenes to decisions made; a true admittance of being accountable for his choices and his life.
Don great choice and great reaction! We have all made choices that we regret but have to live with and oftentimes the retreat never goes away. I was shy as a kid and could never seem to measure up. Then I found booze…… Thanks for this!
He's got another good one called "she loved a lot in her time" you should hear. But I mean he's George Jones..the ultimate, so he's got tons of songs to hear.
On one of the awards show, George was told by the Execs that he'd only have a few minutes to sing a song and he couldn't choose this one (they didn't approve), so George didn't go to that show. On that show, Alan Jackson was given lots of time to sing 2 songs but being buddies with George, he got ticked off at what the Execs had done to George, that he sings George's song Choices as his #2 song and then WALKED off the stage without a word. The audience lost it. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/tJVp6FM0aH0/v-deo.html
As much as this sounds like something George would write about himself, it is actually a cover of Billy Yates recording, who co-wrote it. It was the one I was familiar with. Alan Jackson also did a great job singing this at the CMA Awards in protest of them telling George he couldn't sing the whole song. I would suggest doing Billy's version, but it doesn't sound much different than George's.
Good reaction Don. A lot of what you said sure makes sense. I'm closing in on 70 and there's not any time that I haven't wished that I'd paid more attention to what my parents told me. Unfortunately, it's too late now to tell them. I wish more youngsters would take that to heart but unfortunately they have to discover it for themselves. Best regards, Steve
This is one of my favorite songs by George Jones. I can say the same about some of the choices I've made throughout life. Don't know if I'd change any of them, they made for a fun time on this planet!!
George Jones was the best country singer of all time I remember listening to a interview George gave and he talked about the album choices for years he hadn't drank but he had started drinking again he said he was in the back side of his property and was just thinking about just taking some of his money and just leaving his wife and just go but he said he asked God to help him .later when he was coming home after working on the album he was drinking and hit a bridge and almost died for reason he asked to talk to a old gospel singer vestal Goodman and she and talked with him and gave his heart to God that's the story he gave
Hi/Hello, whichever you prefer Thank you for reviewin the song, my grandma is a huge fan of your reveiws (and i am too) and after we wrote the request we checked evetyday to see if you did it and when we saw you had it put a smile on both our faces. Bye/Goodbye, whichever you prefer
@Hi Hello Thanks for the good chuckle with the "Bye/Goodbye" thing! I'm glad your grandmother saw the reaction, and that she enjoyed it (you too). Please give her my regards. Guten Tag. :-)
@RockN2Country Thanks for respondin, i honestly think you deserve so many more subscribers, your just a nice guy, i dont know how else to put it. I was also gonna say that id really like to see you do a review of "She thinks i still care" (Also also im glad you liked the "bye/goodbye thing) (Also also also, im gonna stop saying "also" and then saying another thing) (Also also also also, I hope you have a good rest of your day.) (Also also also also also, im really done saying "also". For real this time)
He's one of my favorite singers in good country music with the story telling in it. 💋❤ I haven't been getting notifications from you and I subscribed to you a couple years ago. I just happened to run across your channel a couple days ago. I thought you were just gone from You Tube. I'm glad you're still here. 👍
George said that as you walk off the stage in the clubs, people would offer you a drink and it would be rude to say ' no' and on and on, night after night.
Well put Don, as you said you know there was someone along the way that told George, you'll never make it in music there is always a person like that in everyone's life we've all had but just as George, we had choices and some was good and some bad, but that's living life! I would like to request a Merle Haggard , song called "love me when you can"great song by Merle!!
If you read the sleeve it tells a up to date story of this album, he had wrote alot of just the music parts to this album then he was in a severe car accident on a relapse, in his suv and drove off a bridge head 1st. It took 1& 1/2 to cutt him out with the jaws of life. He was in the hospitol and there he put lyrics to most of his songs as he recovered!! Heavy eyy
I think "Choices" is a bit of a departure from the normal George Jones song and on this same album is another song that is also a departure from the usual George Jones song called, "When the Last Curtain Falls". I think you would enjoy reacting to it.
hi Don , i know you like Patty Loveless , have you heard Her duet with Dwight Yoakam " Send A Message To My Heart " , this is a beautiful song i listen to this song almost every day , Hope You get the chance to this one , u think you will like the music & lyrics...Have a Blessed Day..from Quebec Canada
Don, I hear that you are looking for morals songs, George Jones ' She's my rock!' or fun. Also GJ. " call the wrecker for my heart", "The one loved back then/ the corvette song"
I'll give it to you cuz you were raised on Rock it was about his drinking and the lifestyle in the cause of drinking the way he did not talking about dreams for going after dreams he's just talking about knowing you should have never drink like he did and a cost of what three fitwize not getting to know your kids the homewrecker the fact that he was so bad he drove on lawn mower to get some more drinks that's what the songs about not about giving up on your dreams

💘 George
Miss Nancy got him straightened out at the end. You could see the love there.
Elite, indeed. What a singer. Thanks for another oldie.
I love George Jones he was my dad's favorite. My dad drank most of his life and had a lot of regrets before he died that he tried to make up for.
Probably my favorite Jones tune, probably because of the message about consequenes to decisions made; a true admittance of being accountable for his choices and his life.
I always took the “voices” as the voices in his head telling him what was right or wrong and he wasn’t listen to it.
Don great choice and great reaction!

i believe it's after his car accident when he finally gave up drinking. written by the great Billy Yates
Country music today needs the Possum
