extremely fascinating, not only from a cultural point of view and an artchitectural point of view,yet also from a sociological and anthropological point of view. Its obvious that they build these houses mostly to impress eachother and gain status withtin their own group. They may or may not obtain planning permission, and so they make the house very unique so even if they lose possession of it, no one else would want it, so in a way it remains theres and also continues to show off their in-group status and wealth.
At least I can honestly say I've never given money to a beggar. I've bought a beggar a cup of coffee and some food, after asking them what kind of food they would like.

The ugliest properties I have ever seen in my life. Money can't buy class or taste. A large property doesn't make a home either. It's how cosy you make it inside. Also whats the infrastructure, amenities etc of that city / neighborhood. Most likely very poor ... I'd rather live in a place with sensible people that contribute to society than a bunch of thieving / scamming hooligans that will stab me in back when i'm not looking. These scamming foreigners just don't get it. Crime pays temporarily but doesn't sort out the big picture which is living in a functional society where you pay me for my service and I pay you for yours. We all help each other out. And to those honest, hard working Romanians, I am so so sorry that these thieves are destroying your name / image around the world.

They were living on the m50 in Dublin and begging on the roads and they sent them home and followed them and they had photos and videos the news and the fella that brought them all over had a big house and a farm all from Romania.. And if you don't believe me go to dorset Street Dublin 8am you will see about 50 of them geting out oa van to beg
It's total BS. The gypsies can only afford to build the walls. They don't have any electricity or plumbing inside. They mostly live in a single room with the whole family because they can't afford the upkeep of a whole house.
