- The video of my N scale coffee table railroad received many comments. This video goes behind the scenes to explore the features and secrets of running the little railroad under glass including operation, provisions for routine maintenance track cleaning. The original video for which this provides the behind the scenes view is

Wow that's amazing!
This is amazing. There is so much packed into such a small space! This is why I love n scale.
Awesome table and layout! Thank you for sharing!
Love this! As I mentioned on the other video, I have waited over 40 years to see more of this little railroad. So glad you posted it here.
The little railroad under glass has changed surprisingly little over 40 years. I am glad you were able to find the post!
This is a very enjoyable layout to see and the details are great!
🚂Glad you enjoyed it!
You thought of everything. Also crammed a lot of stuff in a little space, yet it is not overcrowded. Great job. I am starting a 41" x 72" N scale layout and watch these videos to get an idea of what I can fit. I plan on doing 2 levels. Hopefully it looks half as good as yours.
Thanks for posting a video of this. It is very helpful to me and I enjoyed watching it.
Glad you liked it. Most of all have fun building and running it. Good luck.
Looks so very good
I am just starting with a Kato n scale starter set and like the idea of table top as we live in a condo with limited space. Do you have a full or partial list of components & pricing you used including the table? Thanks
What's the dimension of that table please. Thanks...looks great.
The table is 56 3/4 in long, 29 1/4 in wide and 18 1/4 in high. The depth of the well where the trains run is about 4 in.
How do you go about uncoupling the wagons . When the glass is on. I'm taking my first steps in n gauge . Finally. Wow what a fantastic railroad
I remove the glass for uncoupling. I believe there are remote magnetic couplers available. The
railroad is over 40 years old. I don't think it would have survived that long without the glass to protect it.
Very nice layout with brilliant design and storage functionality, how did you light the caboose?
Thanks. Wipers brush against the axils for electrical pick-up to feed a rectifier which maintains proper electrical polarity across the LED’s regardless of track polarity. To minimize flickering, a1000 microfarad capacitor is connected across the rectifier output and releases electricity to the LED’s when continuity to the rails is temporarily lost.
@@richardperrelli3970 very awesome idea, could make a great Model Railroader Magazine project article.
This may help. I used part from my scrap box but what I did to build the caboose lighting is similar:

How easy is it to build something like this? I've always wanted to do a project like this but don't have the tools or the space as of yet. It's like a fever dream for the future.
This was my 4th N scale railroad and my 3rd furniture building project. Glass top display coffee tables are commercially available, but they are expensive $ and often not the right size.
But don't give up the dream. If it is too easy, it isn't rewarding.
