I like so many things about this game: the simplicity with hidden complexity, the art, and the async pvp. I found out it was made in Godot, so now I have started learning Godot

I only learned that it was made in Godot from this video, and one of my favorite games (Brotato) also uses that engine. Well, I played this game a bunch, too, but I think I'll wait for early access to go back to it.

I knew when I played the first demo that this was an obligatory success if everything goes well. This game has something addictive that doesn't feel cheap, it's real strategy building and discovery that keeps you playing!

I played the initial demo you released on Itch and enjoyed it, even though it’s not really my kind of thing. I didn’t realise you threw yourself into it so much and carried on developing it further as a PVP game.

How is the matchmaking handled? Do you have a central server to do it or is it all client-based?
@@owdoogames It's asynchronous. When you press "enter battle" it will store your build on the server and the game will pull someone else's build from there and simulate the fight. There's no direct realtime competition, but it's still PvP.

@@PlayWithFurcifer It works well enough with the default touchpad setup. With proton, the game runs nearly flawlessly.

I love this game, its like a card battle games when actions in shop, where you strategize, but without waiting soooo looong for the opponents turn.
And love the fact you can play offline too, cus i dont have internet at my pc and it helps me relax.
Keep up the amazing work! I have no doubt in my mind that the numbers will skyrocket once the early access is launched!

Great to learn about the history. Your pace has been amazing. I may be in the minority, but it is great to see that you also acknowledge the challenges not just with effort when it comes to release items so quickly. There are many, balance, feedback, not feeling too cluttered. I think a rotation could be a solution. I am marveled at how much content game has in the demo and the pace, but there are some expected consequences, but mostly good overall.
The game has been tons of fun! keep up the great work. I have a couple videos on my channel, but most of my time played has been alone on the couch. This is a great casual game I have already lost 120+ hours playing.

Hey great video! The demo is amazing. As mentioned in the video you really got something special here. Its so satisfying fiddling around with the backpack and all the items. Also its so easy to pick up and just quickly play some ladder matches. As a (hobby) game developer myself I am curious how you implemented the async pvp system. I wish you all the best and hope your game goes to the moon!

Looking forward to a post launch video even a short one would be great. I am also amazed how on point the first early access balance patch was, and everyone including me should know this is an ongoing process and balance will be far from perfect so early on.
Im sorry, but the name Ultimate Death Shopping got stuck in my head. Im not going to be able to think of the game without calling it that in my head.

How do you manage balancing the game? Is it all feedback driven or do you use data?
Basically Feedback to set topic and which we then cross reference with data. We have a large spreadsheet with pickrates, winrates etc split by rank, class and so on. Data was somewhat easy to obtain since players upload their runs anyway :D
Thanks for sharing. How do you collect the data? I tried to use steam stats for my game but I found it very limiting. In the future I'd like to do something like creating data base or something else so I could track data patch over patch. I found steam stats just didn't have the detailed data I needed.

After your 'godot+crazygames' video, i tried your games on it, and this one became my fav out of the 3, even tought, its a little complex to me, especially after the 10th win(at least in my experience). And i didnt even thought, that this would have a wiki 💀.
Also i wonder which godot game will be the most popular/downloaded (or by revenue?) at the end of 2024.

I have hundreds of hours in the demo. It dropped at the perfect time in my life. A game that i can leave at anytime and requires little mouse precision and no fast movements was perfect for my injury.
I might not play right now but i will absolutely buy the game and recommend it to all my friends. Its a wonderful game
