i love that you stayed true that you'll stay in the island and not made a portal and just got all the stuff in there. like it takes away all the immersion when 100 days youtubers do that.
I don't know how likely you are to see this, but the reason mobs aren't spawning on that platform is because you made it out of slabs not solid blocks. Mobs can't spawn on slabs
They're top half slabs, they allow spawning just like upside down stairs.
The problem is they are waterlogged
@@timmythegimmy Yeah, this is why. The game treats waterlogged blocks as water source blocks, which is true.
Nope, that only applies to bottom slabs. Waterlogging doesn't affect spawning either. I put it down to simple luck, and it being a new world with low local difficulty.

It might be worth it to let mobs spawn on your island until you get enough string to make wool blocks for a bed, and then put the lights back down. That way you could finally sleep!

Starting on an island in a brand fresh new minecraft world, is dope.
You can start creating domes with biomes inside (so you have a lil bit of everything near you), you can go exploring everywhere and it offers a bit of a challenge (and intimacy too), you can connect the islands with bridges or boat-ways, and you have to manage your resources (when they stonks....yeah big stonks big brein time) like dried kelp to smelt and campfires to cook....recycling is your best friend

Awesome idea for a series, dude. You look good in the golden pants, and these 100 days are gonna be good. Also, once you build that mob farm in episode 2, you mentioned spiders getting you string for a fishing rod, but that string can be crafted into wool for a bed. You probably already knew that, but a reminder couldn't hurt.
He used the logs as fuel instead of planks so I think the reminders will be helpful 😬 luv u waddl
Wattles make a kelp farm. Use the campfire to cook the kelp then make kelp blocks which are better than coal for furnace fuel good enough to cook more than the 9 dried kelp needed to make the block (its infinite energy) and dried kelp (not the blocks) can be used as a food source albeit a weak one. Also james, Ethan, Samantha and emily
Oh, it's the blocks that u use as coal. I burnt lot of kelp and couldn't use it

Steps 1 - ??? Punch tree, make tools, get stone. Food: COMPOSTER! Compost kelp that is all around you. Get bonemeal, bonemeal grass, get seeds - lots of seeds. Plant seeds. Cook kelp to keep you alive while seeds grow into wheat. - That's my method for survial at sea. Then once you have a source of food, go into the water with a couple doors. Use doors to make airpokets to mine the oceans without getting the slow effect of being in water (and no drowning!)

@@Reymax164 yes you can dry it in a furnace and eat it. It gives half a hunger point but you can eat it like 2x faster
Atlantis-themed buildings connected by bridges could be a cool way to expand this base. I’m thinking of the 1.16 nether hardcore base and how the structure was a collection of small/big rooms connected by corridors. Would be an interesting build! Excited for the series

Mobs don’t spawn on slabs. Change the blocks out on the water and mobs will spawn
They can spawn just not on bottom half slabs

Hey wattles! I'm a big fan of your videos and I have a idea for your island. mobs can not spawn on slabs and that is what your mob spot is made out of. also if you need food besides fish you can cook kelp in a furnace. thank you and I hope these will help you!

Kelp farm! Endless supply of fuel. Dried kelp blocks for fuel... Dried kelp for "food". Not the best food, but it works in a pinch.

For a mob farm with your out of the way platform, would be funny if you had a long path of water pushing boats into mobs and near your base. Maybe some floodgates to let the boats back once you hit a button or something. Impractical and dangerous, but fun nonetheless.
This is a vacation compared to Kikoskia's run of Minecraft Hardcore 1.3. He had literally _one_ tree worth of resources in his island, and no kelp to roast.
Your content always keeps me coming back to Minecraft with new ideas. Love to see another new series.

Mining underwater: place a door - it creates a two block high airspace so you can breath and mine at full speed. This series looks fun!

My favorite Survival Island can only be done in v1.6.4 or earlier. It's a one tree survival in an almost endless ocean biome. There is a mooshroom island about 500-1000 blocks away from the spawn island, but since it's all ocean biome everywhere else, no natural farm animals spawn. Near as I have been able to figure, there is no "Mainland" within 200K blocks of your island.
