I've been to Koh Samui a few times now; will be returning again this year for an extended stay (60+30). So far, I've always stayed at a certain place in Maenam (to remain unnamed). Mostly, I've only really explored the area of Maenam though Bophut.
    But here's the thing:
As a solo traveler, I'm more interested in the simple (and affordable) bungalows. My needs are simple and my primary interest is to be able to establish a basic sort of "home base" from which I can just leave my baggage behind (so as to travel light) and use the nearby airport to facilitate brief, rather spartan, excursions to other parts of Thailand which I have yet to explore. I'm hoping to perhaps retire there -- at least part time -- but to make good decisions about exactly where requires some first-hand, on-the-ground experience and observations.
    So...
With regard to your segments on Koh Samui -- might you be able to put something together that addresses this sort of thing?
My concern is that (as apparent in this video), Samui is getting a bit over-developed, seemingly displacing the availability of small simple bungalows, to be replaced by the bigger fancy villas to accommodate the "high-roller" market.
Or am I mistaken about this observation?

Hi Koh Samui next on my list to visit for long term retirement rental. Was going to stay in Lamai and Mae Nam but Bang Por looks lovely too. What facilities are here such as places to eat, supermarkets, shops? Also how far from Mae Nam?

Hello Mike, thanks for the video.
I have a question if you don't mind, from your personal experience, how would you describe The weather and ocean condition at the end of December early January ?
And how would you compare it to the month of July?
I really prefer the flat Blue Ocean It's showing you video.
    Many thanks,
    Dan.

Can you call those numbers and get pricing? We live in the US and it would be hard to contact those landlords.

You can usually add the owners by number on Line or WhatsApp and contact them directly.

if you are doing these videos why dont you take a couple of minutes contacting the property owners, ( just to get a rough price per month for example), then put it up on the video( like Side Trip Life does) then you are letting your whole community know rather than say loads of people contacting directly...just an observation but you want to educate people and this is a complete way of doing this...cost of everything is quite important to people watching these...thanks

I don't want a home near the water like that. What will happen in case of Tsunami? It happened before.
